Other side loves violence-themed shows but describe a show about cute little girls labeled as seinen is weird. That's the way it goes for some people. The other side can't seem to understand that.

Currently only watching Psycho Pass and Magi

Everything else currently airing is garbage and I have been watching anime for like almost 2 decades now so its not like I can go back into the past and dig up some oldies cause I have already seen em all.. Japan why must you crush my soul!!!!!!!!

Why cant I have another Cowboy Bebop/Ghost in the shell/Akira ANYTHING JAPAN ANYTHING! I WILL DO ANYTHING!

Will you import anime you like for 400-700 dollars a pop to put your money where you mouth is?

That is pretty unreasonable but I might if it was good enough. I started watching anime at a time when there were no "fansubs" there was no youtube and no streaming sites. You had to wait months to possibly/maybe get a sub for an episode and be lucky enough to find it on the internet and then download it with your dial up connection. I personally barely understand japanese so I never saw a point in importing anime from oversees especially if I had to pay like 60$ shipping and like 120$ for the actual goods, what use would I have of it?

But I have bought some english versions of anime but of course I bought those from local stores and did not pay 400$.

Edit: Actually now that I think about it. There is no way in hell I would pay 700$ an episode... That is just ridiculous maybe I would if I was a billionaire.. 200$ might be a bit more reasonable if it was REALLY REALLY GOOD like the best anime I have ever seen.

Good shows are pushed out every seasons so I don't see a reason to get this depress. There are over 6000 titles on MAL so maybe you've not looked hard enough :)

There are some eroge titles in there so remove like 1000 from that number.

There are a TOONNNNN of moeshit anime in there so remove like 3000 from that number.

And there is also a TONNN of shonan(not all shonan is bad but most of it is) so remove 2000 from that number.

So I am left with about 1000 shows. Now to pick and choose the ones that actually interest me and you get it down to about 400 shows. I have seen every single one of these over the past almost 20 years.

So you are good with Seinen, especially Josei and Shoujo? XD
Well, if you have seen about 400 titles then there might not be anything that would be original or interesting anymore. Masterpiece with our standard is probably released once or twice a year :)
I think it's time to find other medium of entertainment and check back anime occasionally

I assume you were making a joke when you mentioned Josei and Shoujo. But yes I have basically reserved myself to watch maybe 3 or 5 anime a year. Most of them barely last 12 episodes I am lucky if they get a full 20-24 season...

My other medium used to be video games but it seems that medium has taken a side for the worst in the past 6-7 years as well.. Maybe its time to start playing a sport or something...

Yea I cannot really expect to find shows like these very often..

Monster, GITS, Akira, Cowboy Bebop, Bakemono Gatari, Fate/Zero among many others that I have loved in the past.

Er, it's more like $25-30 an episode to import. Expensive, but nothing remotely near $700 or even $200.

I could swear I've seen 25 minute OVA episodes go for 12,000 Yen (1 episode) sometimes.
Though it's still considerable lower than 200-700$ per episode.
I probably regret this post by now.

GSG is a shonen. Its just another great example of how those demographics don't mean anything at all.

Oh man, 1000, that sounds really dire! The problem is that it's wildly inaccurate.

I actually track the sales data for everything that gets released these days, and while the more detailed statistics in my list go back to about 2005, I can confirm that there are only 89 TV anime based on visual novels from 2005-2012 inclusive. That's 8 years. About 18 are sequels so the number of unique franchises is even lower.

I think he meant Hentais, not the literal meaning of Eroge.

A seinen SOL surrounding elementary-middle school students? While it does sound creepy as fuck, I'm not one to judge something I've never seen. I will probably give this one a try, because who knows. I might end up loving it just like I did with GJ-bu.

Ro Kyu Bu and Kodomo no Jikan are seinen, too. Loli stuff tends to skew towards seinen since teens are more interested in big boobs.

Strange. I've never watched Ro Kyu Bu or Kodomo no Jikan (not in my PTW either), so I don't really know why you directed that to me. But yeah, I agree. Teens tend to lean more towards big tits than smaller ones.

Eroge only has one meaning, but, true, I wouldn't be surprised if he used it incorrectly considering his other "interesting" choices of terminology. Eroge, moeshits, and shonans...

I meant hentai excuse me for not knowing all the terminology.

All I know is hentai is porn.

Shonan is geared towards young children mostly boys things like "Fairy Tail"

Seinen generally is the stuff i like stuff like "ghost in the shell" "Monster" ect..

Moeshit is the stuff with the adorable little girls who get in adorable and sometimes funny situations.

And as far as I knew eroge was just another term for hentai. I never bothered to learn it was actually a term used to describe hentai shows or games based off of novels or whatever.

Shonen is the term used to describe teenage boys, thus the demographic. Seinen means adult males, thus the demographic. Moe, well, here's a definition I found on ANN :

ANN said:
Moe is a Japanese term used in connection with manga or anime to describe something precious, usually (but not always) the ideal of youthful and innocent femininity. Written with the kanji for "to bud or sprout" (萌), the concept covers a range of ideal behaviour for youthful female characters in manga or anime.

It's more commonly referred to as "cute" in MAL and in general as well.

Eroge is an adult visual novel consisting of sex and such. Hentai a pornographic "material" in an (Japanese) animation form.

Well thanks for that. The More You Know! I guess...

However shonens have always been a mystery to me. Some shows that are labeled as shonens have some content that is pretty questionable.

Also that description of moe seems pretty creepy especially the part about "usually (but not always) the ideal of youthful and innocent femininity. Written with the kanji for "to bud or sprout""

That may be due to the fact that it was published in a shonen magazine. Say Death Note, for example. It's more a seinen than a shonen, but it's labeled as the latter due to having been published in Shonen Jump. This manga (Non Non Biyori) is also a similar case, I believe.

PV is out. I love the beautiful background art showing the countryside, which is one major appeal of the manga.

So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old?

I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them?

I wonder how long people would put up with this.

As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series.

Perhaps you'd better give an example of how there are 5-8 anime of "cut girls doing cut things" (or you mean 'cute' not 'cut' ?). In the recent spring season I could only count Yuyushiki and Aiura. There are some anime with sexy girls doing sexy things, which I don't think is the same thing. And then there are anime which has solid story with action and drama and "cute girls doing cute things" are just added elements. I don't see how there are 5-8 anime that has "cut girls doing cut things".

And I'm a 21 year old veteran (though I hate applying that title to myself) now in college, and I will be watching these "little elementary girls fuck around" (as you so succinctly described the show).

Also, though I'm aware that this concept is excruciatingly difficult to understand or even begin to comprehend, but something not being to your tastes does not...

...let's take a quick break, I know this is a lot to take in at once. Okay, once more:

Something not being to your tastes does not mean it's not good or inherently bad. And as a fan of the kinds of shows they've produced recently, I can tell you that Silver Link is doing an amazing job with the things they've done recently. It may not be to your tastes (and that's unfortunate), but that doesn't mean they could be doing "better."

I really don't even see the point of people commenting in this thread with things like that. Especially when you try and make people who are going to watch it sound like pedophiles or weirdos for doing so.
---------------------------------------------
Anyhow, I'm really looking forward to this. I can't exactly pinpoint what it is, but something about the art is really alluring to me.

Rather then trying to patronize me, also by giving your crucial input on the series, I would like for you to remember that this is a forum; which is made for opinions. Now I actually like the studio Silver Link for anime such as Baka to Test, Sket Dance and many others that they were involved with. Just disappoints me that they are resorting to redundant moe anime, a concept that for some reasons appeal to people like you, adult males.

Now do you honestly want to tell me that a male in their 20s watching elementary school girls' daily life for enjoyment isn't bit of an enigma? Believe it or not, I'm not trying to be offensive I'm just being honest.

Not to mention, although pointless to add, there are actually middle schoolers as well.

Doesn't help at all.

I'm going to pass on this shit honestly, I'm 17 year old male I have no business watching little elementary girls fuck around.

I'm tired of anime like these, Silver Link could be producing much better anime then this.

Anyhow, I'm really looking forward to this. I can't exactly pinpoint what it is, but something about the art is really alluring to me.

Actually, most of the people who may or will be buying this are over 25 and watching it will probably be the same at least in Japan. Anime featuring students sell and are well liked, Fact. Also, a middle school anime is what I need, I like anime with characters that are in grades other than High School.

Have we just had these kind of anime cut girls doing cut things. I am not Against it but it seems to mush. One season for example you can have 5 to 8 anime like this.

I think you're overestimating the amount of series that we get.

We only had 36 of them in the last 8 years.
