I remember when I first saw this I thought it was ok. It's definitely a different kind of an anime from what I normally watch. I think I'll rewatch this series just to get a better feel of it.

This show floats my boat. Anyone who disagrees is wrong. Broken english is neato, makes it more real I think?

(I love opinions, especially mine)

This episode was a bit bland but it has got me interested. I thought the english was quite good but the japanese accent did come through quite strongly sometimes but at other times it was like listening to a drunk native.

I'm not loving the American language speakers. They all have accents, either that or it sounds unnatural and turns me off to the show a bit.

Why did they stop talking for 2-3 years?

I'm not loving the main character a lot but at least the other guy is interesting and the girl isn't annoying.

Where are you guys watching it? I'm watching a not wonderful copy.

You're going to judge it on the art alone? I thought it looked pretty good.

Well, maybe give it a few more episodes? The main character hasn't even joined a band yet.

The episode was better than okay, but I didn't love it. Looks like it could get interesting though.

I thought I'd check this out since I heard it referred as a music anime next to Nodame Cantabile. But as good-time said:

Love Yukio's voice. It's the same as Kazehaya from Kimi ni Todoke. The first episode is not bad, I think I'll keep watching it.

Hmm, I don't know about these dubious comments...

LOL, but no, seriously, this series is oozing quality already. From the very first scene I noticed the directing was more art-style, and the way the plot is unfolding is both unusual and expository. I'm quite enjoying this even though the artwork seems low-budget (let's just say it looks like they didn't have much money but they spent it very well)

I'm watching this anime after getting about halfway through the manga series. It's great, but as manga that revolves around music, I think it's unfortunate that I can't actually hear how amazing Koyuki's voice is supposed to be or how funky Taira's bass playing is. (It's always funny seeing the reactions on people's faces when Koyuki starts sining.)

First off, the animation is pretty sub-par. The mouth movements when people are talking seem really choppy. However, this won't keep me from watching the anime. I just hope they don't use too much of that 3D to animate the characters when they play. It'll be too distracting otherwise. They did the same thing after the first season of the Nodame Cantabile anime, but the animation was better. It must be hard animating a musician's hands.

Next thing is the Engrish. Since there is going to A LOT of spoken later, this is a pretty important part. The three drunk guys sounded like they were all voiced by native English speakers (which is a good thing), but the lines sound a bit awkward (They weren't very good at voice acting). When Ryuusuke first spoke English, I thought, there's an accent there, but he's better than most of the Japanese voice actors they get to speak English. My opinion changed as the episode continued. Japanese people probably think the English is impressive, but the Japanese who speak English in anime always sound like their mouths are full of cotton. There probably aren't any voice actors who are good at speaking both English and Japanese, so there's not much they can do about that. I'll just end up cringing a lot later on....

Not much actually happened in this episode, but I know good things are to come, so that's not so big of a deal. I expected there to be better music playing in the background for an anime revolving around music, but it just feels so silent at times. I think some of the scenes would feel more engaging if there was a better soundtrack. I also think the anime would benefit if it had some of Koyuki's narration outside the dialogue. You just can't understand the guy unless you know what he's thinking.

That's my opinion so far.

Oh no Engrigh! A Japanese actor is talking English with an accent, tragedy. They should hire some white lady to pretend to be Japanese and switch her Rs with Ls. Now THAT is the proper way to create English with a Japanese accent.

Fake accents > authentic accents

I definitely like the series so far. The music is a big part of making it interesting. I did like the Engrish from the "foreigners." It is nice to hear a little English in anime without it having to be dubbed. I also do like how the animation syncs with the music. I am excited to see more.

Well just finished this and i liked it very much i found the story quite nice for a music anime and the english is quite bad at times but comparing to other animes its perfect. The only thing lacking is the art specially in some episodes at times it becomes quite obvious even if u don't really pay attention to the art much.

Finally got around starting this series.

Last year, I watched the masterpiece Nana. Izumi seems like an interesting girl despite being labeled as near perfect. Ryusuke is a pretty cool guy imo.

And oh that Engrish, so fucking cool. Think I'm going to enjoy this.

Not a fan of the muted art style. Also, why did his childhood friend suddenly talk to him again after 2 years and why did MC shrug it off like it was nothing? Pretty dull introductory episode but eh, maybe it'll get better once the other characters start to get introduced.

she talked to him because she wasn't aware of Koyuki being in the same school. And he shruged it of because he likes her.

What a great first impression to me.Such a good show it seems. The art style isn't the best but I like how it's in city and how dirty all of the places are and how people there are nasty. The engrish was weird but I thought it's better to have something like that rather than real americans speaking. Also I LOL:d at the "What are you,a rapper or a singer? We are the world ?"

Anyway this was good right from the start and miles better than the overrated anime "No game No life"
