| pretty sure he just read one of the 4 activation phrases to her, i assume that means that she is the gateway to exile or she's the exile herself. still i'd have thought you'd need the answer to the riddle for it to do any good. |

| The Guild is doing something to the weather, and I guess that's why stellar navigation appears to be useless. Al seems to have been some kind of a sleeper superkid, and her powers might have something to do with the weather, too. Dio and Alex were kind of neat. I liked the music in the scene where Alex and the Guild guy were sipping coffee. |
| I can stand the way mystery is done in this show. It hardly ever gives us anything and drags us along by our nose. This wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if the characters had more depth, or if we had some bigger idea of the overarching story. So far this has been a pretty anime about following some dumb clueless kids where we hear the grownups speaking in jargon we couldn't possibly understand. Last Exile had such a strong start before it got in too deep, I can only hope we get more of a direction to go in now on and we lose this mystery stuff. At least we got good husbandos, the cool and sexy Alex and the devilish and playful Dio, probably the two most interesting characters. On further consideration I think I've found out where this anime shines. It shined at the beginning when we weren't being force fed stuff we didn't want to know as it avoided showing us the flaws of its unbelievably childish cast, and it shines when it goes rule of cool and we have a succinct focus on a race, or something. The race episode was cool because we both got a rule of cool race that played to the anime's strengths, and an engaging sub plot with Alex that pushed the plot forward and gave us lots of hints. Episodes like this one feel like the worst of the bunch. |

| Dio and Lucciola are allowed onboard the Silvana. Alex pays a visit to Vincent of the Urbanus and starts a fight with them. Dio triggers something in Alvis. It's both a smart and dumb thing to keep the Guild members aboard the Silvana. They get guaranteed protection from the Guild, but a lot of the Silvana's secrets are left wide open. Can't say Claus did a good job at minding Dio. Although, he was on a mission, so who took over his role... Badass Alex started a fight with the Urbanus. A bold move. |

| Loved this episode! Idk what it is about older early 2000s anime, but they make me feel really cozy. Also what the heck did Dio do 0_o |

He knows that Dio's faction knows part of the riddle so he might be trying to soften up to Dio to get that information out of him. |
| This anime.. it seems like it's not sure about what it wants to be half the time. There's always something awkward about the mechanic guys maybe it's just the dub, but the two Guild pilots come on board the Silvana and they're like "Ya we're here now, so go pound salt" and the mechanics, and Klaus are like "WTF? You're prisoners then!" But then they just let them wander around the ship. Alex even is told about it but he's like "Good. Let's see what happens." HUH?? They're obviously dangerous, even if they aren't totally unfriendly, but letting them just walk all over the place including into one of the gauge rooms- C'mon. So he talks to the girl and she starts glowing and yea, that was what he was trying to do that was obvious. The animation is extremely clunky. The plot is all over the place... first Lavie and Klaus were like odd jobbers, then racing, then bounty hunters, now they're escorting the captain of this big ship who has basically taken them hostage. It's 11 episodes now and I don't understand how this show is so popular as a classic anime. So much about it feels amateurish. Also the old man characters look creepy as hell- with over detailed faces that can't animate, so they are just like these masks. And that whole thing with the auction was extremely stupid, and pointless. Unless this anime really pulls a rabbit out of the hat and does something truly amazing later, I don't see it getting higher than a 6 for me. |
