After seeing it again with subs, it was so much better. And some tender moments that just added to the great episode. This is shaping up to be a very promising series. I haven't read the novel or manga so don't know how different it is but it doesn't feel like there are gaping holes in the story to me.

The thrill was great, and the suspense really got to me.

This is just what the fall season needs.

This looks very promising, from all the Anime i seen this season till now this one seems the best.
It looked very interesting and has a nice creepy yet romantic feeling to it.

The 2 main characters also looked very interesting.
The male lead looked very mysterious and also charismatic.
While the female lead is more open yet also seems to be hiding a few things.
Almost can't wait till next week.

Being a 13 episode adaption i would imagine they would have to cut things out. Either way i was pretty much stunned.

Now while i love shows that make me think, but a detective show is sort of cliché. However, paranormal elements added into the mix, and the fact he isn't really a detective made this awesome. We will witness if that can keep it afloat now that we know all his tricks.

By the way for people who didn't know, the same voice actor from Air that did Yukito (The silver haired duded) is doing the main character, Yakumo on here.

You could just say Ono Daisuke. He's highly famous VA, you know.

This show has amazing BGM. Both the OP and ED is amazing.
Yakumo is so hot

I cannot believe they left out practically all the horror elements shown in the manga. I mean it.... all! The synchronization of the events were better in the manga if compared.

Have a lot of expectation from this show. It has to get better in terms of freaking people. At least it should some closer to Shiki's level.

Not bad for an intro episode... but we'll see how it further progresses.

Otherwise, I got engaged and got thrilled with the episode.

This one really let me down.
I'm reading the novel (still v01 file 01 though) and must say that whatever that made me love the novel wasn't in the anime.

Also didn't like the color choices.

quite displeased with the first eppy to say the least.. not like I had high expectations.. neither have I read the manga... but the eppy looked very rushed, lame, and naive... apart from a couple of melodies and a bishi I've nothing left in my mind after watchign it... which is... bad T__T let's see how it'll progress in the next eppies.. but if the taken pace is kept and the story doesn't turn out to be at least tiny bit more realistic and serious.. there're high chances I'll drop it...

I agree the manga version was more thrilling. There were some rather strange choices made for the anime. What was with that leisurly chat on top of a burning building?

Fortunately I do not know the story for the upcoming episode, so maybe I will enjoy it more. I really want this show to be good, too. Ono Daisuke <3

Well, that was a surprisingly good debut. I've heard so many bad things about Bee Train, and yet I've never gotten round to seeing any of their series, so it's a big shock to me that my first experience with them was highly positive.

I like the color pallet. I'm glad they didn't go the Blacks and Grays like Death Note.

The Manga is the manga, this is an anime. Their job is not to make the manga. -_-

I got really hyped for this, and the OP was really cool, but...well...okay I don't know. I haven't read the novels, but I have read the manga adaptions and its takes on the story seemed a bit more engaging...Well, we'll see how this anime turns out. As a first episode though, I think it was pretty good. Though it was kind of rushed, it was probably on time restraints to fit the whole story etc etc and I'll be looking forward to next episode since I've heard great things about this story!

Also, I think the soundtrack was really nice. TwT

I didn't say they should make a manga lol The anime is based on the manga so they should find a way to follow it more closely. If a manga gets animated it means it's good enough for that (I mean, it was chosen over a million of other good mangas), so why change the whole story? I mean, they didn't even explain why the teacher killed the girl(s). And who the hell sits on a roof and starts talking about life while the building is on fire? It's fine to change a few things from the manga of course, but at least they should make it good.

The first version of the manga was way better, so they should have chosen that one instead of the recent version. I didn't say I hated it, it's fine for a first episode and all, but I was expecting more being this manga one of my favorites.

Being completely unfamiliar with any other form of this series, I was underwhelmed. I thought the characters were rather bland, and what little they hinted at of the plot didn't catch my interest at all. Unless "supernatural detective show" sounds really appealing to you, I'm not gonna be recommending this one.

So far, my best anime for this season. Amazing OST, a great atmosphere and main character is interesting enough.

I know! In the manga, after the girl said 'they are beautiful', Yakumo was supposed to look startled and say 'this is the 1st time someone has said something like this'. Basically giving a little development between the two. But if you think about it, showing a a lovey-dovey scene in the 1st episode would definitely be weird.
Would have liked it more if Yakumo would have passed on the sister's msg through words.

I've been waiting for a long time for this to come out, and I must say, it was worth the wait. It wasn't a perfect first episode, by any means, but I've seen much worse. I haven't read either the novels or the manga adaptations, so it was all new to me.

Overall, I like the feel of it. I thought that the music was good (the OP and ED, especially), but some of it was a little...off. I can't wait for next week's episode!

The episode was pretty great, but it kinda felt rushed for me compared to the manga.
Oh well I guess that's just how I feel.
It's definitely gonna be a great series, though the ED wasn't really good, I loved the opening though. :)

I got dibs on Yakumo! He is so fine...laid back, smooth talking...and what was it that Gotou-san called him? The Magic Cat...yeah, he looks like a cat, long, lean, and so sleek...smooth, too. I enjoyed the first episode and look forward to more. ^^

Not too surprisingly the episode was even better with dialogue. I really liked Yakumo's character, he's not a complete white knight even though he seems to be a good guy. Enjoyed the cast and the dialogue, I thought it was well written. The mystery about who the killer was and the confrontation with him was a little weak but all in all a good debut.

And whatever sense of disbelief is required suspended I thought the moment on the rooftop was touching and visually interesting with the blazing inferno around them.

And is it just me or does Yakumo run like a girl? :P

It lacks so much of the humor the manga had, and really dumbs down how the case was solved. With only 20 mins and 13 episodes to work with i guess i just got to let a few things sidle.

I thought it was a good first episode. I didn't read the manga so it's all new to me.

I hope there's a higher quality release eventually, but whatever! Beggars can't be choosers.

Standard fare. Apart from good bgm everything else was run-of-the-mill. I lol'd at , unfortunately not unusual, pink-haired siblings. Horror/detective anime, yeah....

3/5

Thus begins my curiosity to see if Beetrain can produce a good show for a second time after they redeemed themselves with Phantom. As with every other show by them the music is the first thing worth noting. Really nice OP song and bgm, which again tends to sound more empowering than what is actually being shown lol. I'm not convinced on the mystery aspect yet, I hope they improve on it later on seeing how obvious as day this episode's was. Just an okay episode for now. Despite how much I liked Phantom I'm still being wary... this is Beetrain afterall.

I don't think i have loved a first episode as much as this..It is the exactly the kind i like.Psychic, dark and mysterious..It is definitely going to be awesome.Although there are some differences with the manga it still is as exciting and captivating as the manga was..

Not bad for a first episode lets see how it develops. It reminded me of Ghost Hunt in a way. The red eye kind of makes things more lame than better though since we are getting sick of special eyes in the anime manga world. We accepted he could see souls even with out the red eye gimmick. There was no need for it.
BTW that killer was one big sissy. But i guess it was a given since he was going after poor little schoolgirls.
And WTF did he use to cover his eye? He never heard of color contact lenses? What was that metallic thing?

I found the girl to be a very attractive character. She's down to earth and smart enough. Rarely we see a sweet girl like her that is also so realistic. She escapes the typical girl archetypes we see in anime.

On the other hand the guy isn't unsympathetic and he manages his creepy role perfectly but he doesn't escape the typical archetype at all. His your very common sharp tongue smexy bishonen mysterious guy that anyone would expect from a guy in an anime in such position. So basically i don't have much of a problem with him but his basically uninteresting as fuck because despite the big mystery atmosphere around him, his mystery figure is as typical as it can get in the world of anime.

Now we saw some big evil guy in the end so i assume the whole anime won't be independent mystery stories each episode but a central plot running threw all episodes will be established.

They definitely cut out a lot of stuff from the manga version and in a way it's sort of lost the suspense that was found in the manga. I don't know how this will all play out in the greater picture of the anime, but I'm still a bit unsure about this one. But since it's Bee Train, I think it's got a lot of potential, hopefully it won't be wasted.
