Do the Rule of Three Episodes. It ain't good that you simply make a review after just one episode.
You're too American for idol culture, should've been better if you tried to watch the Macross saga (from SDFM to Macross Frontier).

I haven't really seen much more than the first episode of the series, but its on my drive ATM to painfully watch. I agree that if you haven't seen either of those two you will enjoy it. I know a guy that hasn't seen Shana and like Aria.
I was actually really hyped for this and also thought it could of been something special. I think that if it was given the 24/26. The show would be worse than it is now. From what I saw this series needs better casting. I think that's what ruined it for me. Having Rie Kugamiya as Aria was just a complete fail. The directors clearly didn't understand how to cast this character well. Rie is being completely overused for the tsundere character type. Nothing can beat her Shana/Taiga. Therefore putting her in a role similar to that just taints her image. I don't know if you've read Skip Beat but the main character goes through this dilemma after Dark Moon. Everyone wants her to be the same character she played in Dark Moon but she doesnt want that it feels to her that shes just gonna become that character that always plays that stereotype.
Toaru Index was a great series, what got that to be good wasn't just the environment and secondary character. The plot was the best thing it has going for it. It was complex at times and the whole science vs magic stuff was just genius. Tho i personally enjoyed the first season more than the second. I really don't think aria could of been as good as Toaru because the plot of aria cannot surpass what Toaru has accomplished. It can get close but I doubt it can ever beat it. Not unless it goes Evangelion/Magica XD But that's a different story
ANYWAY long rant lol
