All the time when i'm reading manga I think about writing a letter to the manga-kas to thank them. But many of the North-American companies give you the address of the company for fan mail. I want to write to the Japanese company just like regular Japanese people do. I probably only have the time to write to one manga-ka so i've been pondering who would I write to. It would have to be written in Japanese of course.

So the question is...

What manga-ka would you write a fan letter to if you could only pick one?

..i think mine would be Yuu Watase but i'm not sure.

Ah, that's really hard, but in the end ... I guess I'd have to choose Hisaya Nakajo... Hana-Kimi was one of the first series I ever read, and ever since then it's always been my favorite series. I love her art and the story is so great... I don't know how many times I've reread it because I've lost count. Ah, I really wish I could write to her. But I don't know Japanese.

Thanks a lot Faust721. Now i'm downloading Hayate :) I'll let you know how I like it, k.

Bwaha! I got up close to them and got their autographs as Anime Expo last year. Although, I didn't say anything, like many of the people. Not even a "Thank you." How rude of me. Pictures restricted only to press too :/

I'd write to 3. Kentaro Miura (Berserk), Hiroaki Samura (Blade Of The Immortal) and Takehiko Inoue (Vagabond).
Those three are the manga-ka of, IMO, the 3 best seinen manga right now. All are known for their epic tales and amazing art.

tanemura arina. hands down, best mangaka ever. i own copies of all her works, have artbooks, and even a wall calendar. i adore her works.

i used to be a huge fan of miho obana (after tanemura) but after kodocha her stuff got progressively worse each time (partner... andante.... honey bitter...) so maybe i'd send her a letter of "make better manga cause i know you can" sort of thing hahaa~

Tough question! I guess I would either write to Chika Shiomi or Saki Hiwatari. I respect them both very much. I like Chika Shiomi for her dynamic artwork and mixing of horror/shoujo, and Saki Hiwatari for her incredible stories (PSME). ^_^

I would write to Watsuki Nobuhiro because he is definitely my manga!idol. I admire how he's not afraid to try new stories regardless of whether or not they will be popular and how much thought he puts into his characters - I would probably ask him lots of questions about where inspiration for his characters come from.

Kubo Tite; blaming him for making the last 20+ chps so damn boring but thanking him for saving the arc with *spoiler*
Eiichiro Oda; just to tell him he's a freaking genius and awesome mangaka that I adore and love

If we can send letters to the afterworld, then I'd write to Dr Osamu Tezuka. I'd like to tell him how amazing his stories are and how much I love his work and how Ode To Kirihito will always be my favoritest manga.

If we have to keep it to the living, then Kaori Yuki. Her art is breathtaking, her characters multi-dimensional, her stories full of twists and endless depth. Plus, she's such an enigma, I'd love to be able to talk to her and find out her story like "The Thirteenth Tale". :3
