I'm 23 years old, female, and not a particularly good student at my college. My problem is that, while I love the learn, I don't like school or homework all that much. ^.^;; I've only gotten into anime in the past few years (since I was around 16, though I didn't discover fansubs until a couple of years ago.) but I've found it's one of my favorite things. Unfortunately, I have about a billion hobbies including anime, and I'm behind in all of them, thanks to my squirrel-esque attention span and wide range of interests.
I'm not particularly picky as far as anime genres, apart from the fact that in general I don't enjoy military or mech themed anime. That isn't to say that I won't watch a series automatically if they are in that genre, merely that It's a minus one in my minds priority "To Watch" list. I've started to realize I'm kind of male-blind when it comes to anime, though I occasionally will frickin adore a random male character (like Kyon from SSnY and Yuuichi, from Kanon '06 -- who are basically the same person -- and Renton from Eureka 7). Most of my anime rules are a general thing... my tastes are too wide in every sense to really pinpoint particular things I will always like or not like. Like everything else in my life, I generally prefer to let the source prove it's worth on it's own terms.

BTW, Becky from Pani Poni Dash! is awesome. When she pulled out Himeko's ohage!!! Nearly shot my drink out my nose! That show's way better in Japanese, though, and I MUCH prefer the fan-subs to the official ones.

Aoi Hana is everything I'd hoped it would be. Let's just hope it's popular enough to warrant another series. The other anime I was referring to was Kanamemo but I see you've dropped that one. Not to your taste, eh? I agree that Canaaan isn't really a yuri series but it's always nice to see a bit of Girls' Love amidst the explosions and cool action scenes.
I wish that scanlators would focus more on ongoing series and less on one-shots, nice as they may be.

Oh I never get bored. That's like my superpower. Besides, slice of life and feelings of nostalgia are exactly my thing! I gotta say, YKK just shot up to the number one spot on my list, based on how you described it.
Thanks a ton for explaining all that for me.^^ I'm gonna start reading YKK right now. It just sounds like a perfect fit for me. Like Toradora, Azumanga Daioh, Clannad, and Rumbling Hearts are my perfect animes (best not to leave out Naruto!!).
No, I'm really sorry. I'm terrified of things like AIM for chatting. No kidding, just the thought makes me wanna leave the internet (has happened). I'm fine with messages here on MAL. It may not be as unnerving as these wall posts. Even though I am getting braver about it just recently. Wow, that's so quirky how we both have strong issues messaging. I really hope the PMs on here are okay for you. Still, I'll make sure to let you know how my choice turns out on that Manga.
Oh, NEVER worry about graffiti-ing me with long-winded comments. If there was a fan club 'devoted' to that I'd join up in an instant! I just wouldn't be very active because that's not my thing. *ouch*

I've never heard manga explained like that. So that's the difference. I always assumed the opposite. You know, I assumed an anime would be more fleshed out based on how little dialogue I found in the two or three manga I've ever passively flipped through at the book store. Plus I'm all to familiar with fillers, which made me think that manga moves really slowly. See, that's why I have to at least give it a shot. I'm so into anime, and then I'm hopeless about manga.
Yeah, I hear you, better not start with anything that long for my first try. Well, I was also looking at Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou and Kuchibiru Tameiki Sakura Iro. The latter is only one book. I'm way more of a series novel reader than a short story person. Though, I bet that comparison is off, too.
Would you have a suggestion? I'm even looking at Mahou Sensei Negima! which my good friend really likes (even though it was made into an anime). I guess I shouldn't get strung-out over that. Lots of people do both. Actually, I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to anime; I liked everything people have recommended to me so far!

I really liked your reviews for Hen and Sumomo mo Momo mo. Very well done. I haven't started either yet but I'm thinking of cutting my manga teeth with Hen. I figure, if I was gonna try manga at all, I should choose something not done much in anime. Well, at least not what I've seen.
I hope you're still on MAL, you have a really interesting profile. I wanna find out how you can read 86 manga at a time!

Whoa, I was right! *saunters back coolly* You are a damn good writer. I don't think I can express tension the way you did in your fanfic. It's okay, I understand what it means to be busy. I get a lot of people asking me for more fics or sequels or continuations. And I just don't feel like writing.
