Akaishi and Aoba are visiting Akane in the hospital and talking about the game. When Aoba found the chance to talk to Akaishi, he was spacing out. He says that it's everyone's good work that they won the game. Aoba said then it's her good work because Kou wanted to be like Aoba as a good pitcher. Akaishi said something about Kou. Aoba, then, changed the topic and said why he's not visiting. Akane said she got a phone call from him. He said he doesn't want to meet her in the hospital, so quickly to be able to come out (get better)! They already made meeting to date when the team has won from the final game. Akaishi acted as if he doesn't care, but kind of happy when Akane said she's happy to see him.
Akane told them that the hospital staff are checking her again because there's a possibility for her to do surgery. It's because he asked her, so if he doesn't play well, then it's her fault. Akaishi said that's correct, but he won't make it happen. They are leaving.
Azuma and Kou are outside. Azuma asked if he's worried about her. He would be worried if she won't be getting well even after visiting her. Even without getting into Koushien, he can still live on, just like Azuma brother. Azuma mentioned that his wedding depends on if the team are able to get into Koushien. Kou said don't underestimate Aoba sister (or something like that). Kou's thinking about Wakaba and said it's not good to die before their parents. Kou found a four-leave clover. Azuma replied that that's rare, but actually he saw one himself.
Akaishi cannot sleep, and he saw the hospital car. Kou said people in the hospital won't be in the hospital car (so don't worry). They are talking about it's the summer in Japan. Akaishi said if "that" summer never came, he would be liking summer more. Kou said it's not the summer's fault and Akaishi agrees.
It's everyone's convenience to love someone, right? Akaishi asked. Kou agrees. Aoba is on top of the building.
Next day, Kou's running alone and Aoba is talking about Kou not visiting the hospital is too cruel. Azuma said Kou knows about what he should and only thing he must do without people telling him. Azuma brother asked Aoba to help out with practicing batting. And Akaishi is in not good shape when batting. Kou is resting from running. He's having fun. He said he wants to do baseball as habit after graduation, Nakanishi said people won't allow him to do so. Let's reach the goal of 60 km/ hr speed, then they won't say anything.
Next game is against Nishikura and the manager is showing their data to the coach. The coach, after looking at their past points, felt weird about playing against them.
At the same time, Ryuoh is having a game and the pitcher change announcement is going on. The pitcher is "Matsushima"'s younger brother. Kou and Nakanishi are watching their game and Kou, remembering what the manager told him, said. Nakanishi is saying about the previous pitcher's mistake is less than Kou, who said when counting the whole life, he's more than Kou. Nakanishi commented that it's useless to change pitcher because the ball always getting hit, Kou disagrees because there will be no more mistakes happening. Akaishi called both of them to the next game.
In hospital, Akane's parents are talking to the staff, while Akane's watching their game.
In first ball, the spiky hair guy, even to his surprise, hit a homerun! However, it's hard to get next point from them. (So, Nishikura's strategy is to protect the point after losing a point? It was on purpose?) The coach and the team don't get nervous at all. For Kou's pitching, they are hitting safe batting and everyone got the points.
Momiji is watching it on TV, and Mizuki, reading book, is happy because if they lose, they can go on camping! Momiji stared at him scarily.
Second batter, Akaishi, is thinking about Akane needing surgery, is doing well and hit a homerun as well. Kou hit well, but was out in second place (he should stay in the first one). It's hard to get another point again after Akaishi. Even the spiky hair guy, who got proud of getting homerun, cannot get homerun anymore.
Azuma brother commented that everyone's doing well and the team against them must have a good coach. After they got point, it's hard to get points for both teams. The coach and Seishu people watching feeling weird. The manager hit the coach's head and reminded him that they are winning. Nishikura's coach is happy because it's under their pace. Kou's getting tired and did his fast ball. Wait... no one hit twice in Nishikura? Aoba watching at Kou reminded her of him crying alone in front of Wakaba's tomb.
Azuma brother saying again that they are batting well. Aoba showed that it's because of her.
At eighth, Seishu got 6 points, and Nishikura is saying that the round is their favorite?
Ryuoh is watching their game.
Seishu won and Momiji is happy. Mizuki said leaving camping to next time. Momiji threw Nomo to him and said Koushien is more important!
Akane fell asleep after the game's over. Akaishi gave Aoba to give the ball that lead them to the final round to Akane. Kou said he will go instead. He said he's going to talk about his good pitching. Akaishi told Aoba to lead him to the hospital but Aoba refused and confirmed that he knows the way.
Akane is playing with that ball. Akaishi did the second and final homerun, so he said he's giving that ball to her. They are talking about how good Akaishi is.
Kou asked Akane when's the surgery and the ball fell off from her hand.
Next ep... Akane telling Kou that the surgery is on the day of final game. Aoba asked if Kou likes Akane, he said yes. Aoba then asked comparing with Wakaba? He said he cannot compare a person who's alive with who's dead. Then she asked, how about comparing with herself? (with scenes of flash back between Kou and Aoba?) + Akane getting ready to get surgery.

I couldn't hold myself and finished reading the manga and I really want to see it animated.
Especially: THIS IS A HUGE SPOILER, don't open this if you hadn't read till the end of the manga.
The great win at the 12th inning against Ryuoh, Koh admitting his love for Aoba, Aoba crying and both of the main heroes holding hands at the train station.
You can't give me such a great episode and then tell me ro wait two week. Only the final remains, as far as baseball that is, I'm sure there is still plenty more in other areas.
No episode next week? Mother fucker, and I was so looking forward to it. It also sucks that the manga ended. I thought myself a long time ago that I'd continue with the manga after finishing the anime. Sucks so much. I love Cross Game.

Yeah, I could see that happening xD
-has now been spoiler'd-
Must resist with the spoiler since I have came this far >_<
Really good episode. I really have a bad feeling in this episode about Akane it seems like she is ready to take any blame with her, something like she might gone. And the game was pretty good or good enough to keep the hype for the next one. Ok, next episode seems to be a little serious with the all the main characters development can't wait to see that.
Did I miss something? What was so good about this episode? As it stands, I want Akane to die since she's been pretty useless since her introduction. I thought she was going to be the reason that Aoba got to play in Koushien, but that doesn't really look like the case. She's just an excuse to bring in the drama of a Wakaba/Aoba/Kou love triangle that can't exist. I feel like no one is coming out and saying what they should just because of her frail presence on the show.
Flibbertigibbet said: The only thing Azuma ever says lately seems to be about how he worships Kou.
Which is exactly why Kou and Azuma should get together.
ArcticMech said: Yes, boys are really that simple. Nice episode.
Everything is speeding along at a nice clip as we head into the homestretch. :)
That's why boys are better friends. They don't have evil, hidden intentions as often as girls do. ):
unlisted said: Aoba's cousin (forgot his name and don't really care) is pretty damn annoying. The show would be just fine/do better without him.
I second this.
... Ahem. I really liked this episode. :D It was kind of awesome to see that coach get served, bwahaha, since he was so arrogant and just thought everything would go according to whatever little plan he had.
Definitely can't wait to see Seishuu play Ryuou! That's going to be awesome. :) Truly hoping for a great game~
The most anticipated final must be epic ... :)
But what I am interested more is on main characters's final feelings ...

But because the Slave is in that despairing situation, having nothing, it can kill the Emperor !"
Aren't you worried about her? If my worrying about her were to cure her illness, I'd gladly worry about her from morning to night, for as many days as it would take Even if you had to give up the Koushien? Yeah. Even if I don't go to the Koushien, I could still live a happy life. Like your brother My brother's marriage depends on us going to the Koushien, remember? Moron. Don't underestimate Ichiyou-neechan

I have a bad feeling about this. I HAVE A FUCKING BAD FEELING ABOUT ALL THIS BUT I CAN'T STOP NOW. FML
Seriously, I'm about to crap my pant. I want Koh to end with Aoba, but pls pls, don't die Akane. Not on the fucking final to add to the misfortune.
I didn't saw that 8-1 coming xD
Even more with the coach telling ''I have a bad feeling about this...'' :P
Akaishi was a boss in that game, two fucking homerun.
In the next episode, Aoba... confess?!?? Or at least, it look like she ask him if he likes her.

Oh no, going on a date seems like a potential death flag.
Aoba better get a move on if she wants to be with Kou. I don't want Akane to die too. ;-;
At least they kept the baseball atmosphere light with that ending.

I really hope that they don't pull a Shigatsu.
Well actually it is the other way around xD Anyway I root for a Happy Ending, the story is already sad enough.

Hearing those past scores, coach worrying the whole time and even Senda of all people scoring a homerun I really got anxious that something bad would happen (in this match at least), good thing the other team was just lucky in past matches and don't have some hidden tactics.

same, i was expecting something bad to happen lol xD
i hope akane doesn't die, i feel like that's a sort of cheap trick to make them relive wakaba's death. but it looks like progress will be made! aoba confesses next episode?
Both Ko and Azuma found four-leaf clovers this episode leading off from Aoba getting one last episode! That was so cool.
Senda got a homer? LOL that was funny.
This whole semi-final game was much better than whatever happened in the last episode. I almost thought Ko finally pitched a 160km/h.
Seishu is going to the finals lesss gooooo.
Akane's surgery will be on the day of the finals too :( I hope it's successful. Getting some heavy Your Lie in April vibes from the last episode which I absolutely loathe.
From the preview next episode could be one of the most important ones.
