About ArcticMech
Returned to anime a couple of summers ago after being away for a long time. How long? Well, aside from Ghost in the Shell and the occasional Miyazaki film that made its way over to the movie theatre here in the States, VHS and LaserDisc were still the norm the last time I purchased an anime (here's looking at you Evangelion). Thanks to a bout of boredom one July/August afternoon and a suggestion from a friend, I rented said suggested anime and fell in love all over again. The first time around it was always about the robots, save for a little bit of Maison Ikkoku. The second time around started with Mecha, but has expanded to include Rom-Coms, Supernatural/Horror, Slice of Life, and even the occassional Magical Girl show, among others. Yep, it's certainly good to be back.

Wow sorry about the very late reply things this side have been a bit hectic what with work, parental duties and general burdens of life.

Anyway concerning Otogizoushi well in two minds about this one, which is no surprise at it really could be two shows, if you have read some of the MAL reviews they pretty well sum it up, first arc pretty good ideas, animation, sound and story all very good. As for the second arc turns into a supernatural show with the same characters and one is just wishing for the same character development - but episode 26 is worth a watch as it has some cool philosphy and interesting animation.

Oh yeah we have now had two deaths from H1N1 and about 17 revellars from Glastonbury were sent home for having flu sypmtoms

slenderfall | 06-15-09, 2:00 AM
Wow it really does seem grim your side not sure where Wisconsin is in relation to anywhere else so why so high, also interesting that New York has the highest death rate is there any reason for that?

Yeah work always seems to get in the way of fun - there must be a better way to live :)

Good about phantom will certainly give it a go. I am probably watching shows you have already seen - though I am 3/4 through Otogizoushi, the first arc is defenitaly worth a watch but the 2nd jumps to present day which is all a bit odd really

Hi there, hows life your side - things not so bad here though we now have 500 swine flu cases but thankfully no deaths.

So how is Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom as it looks like something I may like?

slenderfall | 05-27-09, 7:01 AM
Now politicians getting swine flu that would be news;)

Concerning NYC I really feel I missed out as there are loads of places I wanted to go to taste underground culture - but just did not have the time - I suppose its like anyone coming to London or anyother city *sighs*

Well here it does suit me though when I am bored on a Friday night it can be frustrating

slenderfall | 05-25-09, 4:19 PM
Yeah I only update my plan to watch list now if its more obsure and sometimes I go on ebay to look for an anime boxset bargin buy it and realise its not even on my list.

Oh thats funny we have not heard anything from the USA about the flu and the last time I heard I think we have 120 cases - our news is full of our members of parliment putting in ridiculous and maybe even illegal expence claims - but they will probably all get away with it.

I oly been to NY once and found it really to much to all take in - even though I lived in London I just found it to noisy and too many people - plus i did not really know anyone there my own age so I think I saw the worst side.

Things here are Ok it is a public holiday here today so I am having a lazy day - I live about 30 miles outside London by a very small town which has nothing to offer me accept a few pubs and a nightclub usually full of teens who get to drunk and then fight - which is there idea of a goodnight out. But its nice and green where I live and I only live 20 miles from the coast.

You may like Perfect Blue (psycolgical mystery) or Paronoid Agent (mind fuck) but one of his which is my favorite Tokyo Godfathers which I can only say its a feel good movie with a xmas type theme (see i am a softy really).

both reccomendations are on my plan to watch list *feels slightly overwhelmed with list* and what I have seen of Le Chevalier d'eon the animation looks pretty stunning.

So hows living in NY treating you?

ArnoldK | 05-25-09, 9:34 AM
Yeah, I've got a couple of the DVD box sets- vols. 2 and 5, am working on getting the rest. Vol. 8 is notoriously impossible to find (and with good reason) People are reselling it on Amazon Marketplace for hundreds of dollars. I am CONSTANTLY on the prowl for a non-bootleg version...

If you haven't already, I highly recommend you pick up the MI manga. In some respects the anime is better, but in others, particularly the second half, I think the manga is stronger. In particular there's one important moment in the manga that could never make it to air in the anime...
