Honestly, besides his art he really has nothing going for him. I've watched 5cm's Per Second and Hoshi no Koe and they were both awful adaptions.
I can't comment on Kumo no Mukou as i haven't read the manga but I'm guessing that was adapted poorly too as it is still shit.

Stop with the happy endings lol
The tragic ending is the one that represents the most symbolism.
If you really want an ending that motivates more about life, you should read the manga. Manga is amazing, and it delves into the lives of each character more than the anime. Manga also has the exact same art. Manga rivals the anime in character, but the anime is amazing in its atmosphere.

Love his works, I would like to see something that has a happy ending though.

i love his works altough voice of distant star was hmm... medium if you look at EF serie or the place promised in our early days, i also noticed that the place promised in our early days and distant star have very similiar cities where story begins.

Glad to see that some directors are fine with sacrificing their numbers for quality.
Hats off to the second Miyazaki!

Just had watched 5 Centimeters Per Second and now thinking if he is a sadist for writing such story..
Ugh, got infected by Kagerou (Inu x Boku SS) way of thinking, grouping people into S or M.
