 Hakusensha has opened pre-orders for the 21st and 22nd volumes of the shoujo fantasy manga Akatsuki no Yona, both containing new OVA episodes which will adapt the story of the 18th volume about Zeno.Volume 21 of the manga is scheduled to be released on August 19, with pre-orders being taken through June 29. Volume 22 is scheduled to be released on December 20, with pre-orders being taken through October 31. Akatsuki no Yona was previously adapted into a 24-episode TV anime in 2014. An OVA episode was also released with the manga's 19th volume. Kazuhiro Yoneda returns to direct the new OVAs at Studio Pierrot, with the cast members also returning. Source: Official site |

| My favourite This is probably one of the best shoujo manga I have ever read. I am not kidding. Those who stopped at the anime should know that the contents following from where the anime ended are probably ten times better. The shoujo elements of romance is almost non-existent which is the only thing fans complain about but what really makes Akatsuki no Yona such a great manga is the way it deals with internal conflict of the characters, the political scenario they are thrown at, the struggles they have to go though towards reaching their goals. This is a true masterpiece so an OVA sounds great but I hope they make a sequel because people just don't realize what they are missing out. The battle for Kuuto, for an example, is one of the most strategically written battle plots in any medium, be it manga, novel or any other literature; even though Kusanagi Mizuho-sensei admitted some ideas were directly taken from old Chinese historical battles but the execution in the manga was A+ tier. And that doesn't even say much about the story because of the political complexity the manga has achieved to throw at us, the fans. Okay. Enough of my random appreciation. Glad that we have an OVA but I would love to see an actual TV sequel sometime in the future but seeing how it miserably failed in BD/DVD sales, I am not too hopeful. |

| So happy for an OVA. Loved the first season and that first season even got me into the manga which I also enjoy. Hope they give it a worthy adaption. I am still holding on for a season two you never know, I didn't think they would do a second season of noragami but they did so here's hoping. |

I know release times vary from studio to studio but hopefully the case is similar |
| The whole volume 18, or starting from chapter 101...because going in on chapter 100 would towards the end of something, but chapter 101-105 would be his full back story. Either way, I'm so happy about the news. I saw it yesterday on ANN and my heart was pounding from excitement, it's the best backstory and I want to say how I felt about it, but it would be a minor spoiler I guess. At the same time, it's sort of a bittersweet announcement, because now it really seems like all hopes (if there were any to being with) of a second season just got wiped away. Zeno's backstory would fit best within the story, so if his arc is adapted into an OVA, then it most likely means that they aren't ever planning for a sequel. I hope to be wrong of course, but yeah, the sales :( I guess they could still just reuse footage from the OVA and incorporate it into the story if there's ever going to be second season. I agree with shanimebib that's it's one of the best shoujo manga out there, although I don't like to compare with just demographic, so I'd say best historical-fantasy shoujo manga. But yeah, I think Kusanagi does a very good job in planning and pacing, and especially in character development (not just talking about Yona, but a certain other character). Still really looking forward to the Zeno's arc being adapted, it's definitely better than nothing. He's one of my favorite characters in the manga. |

| Oh my gosh anime sequel please! This is still a fantastic news regardless, more Akatsuki no Yona can not be wrong! Time to read the manga I guess. I wouldn't want to be potentially spoiled by any prior content that was not in the anime but will be included in the OVA about Zeno. |

| So much for a second series...Wish the series had just made up it's own ending instead of following the pitfall of "and so the adventure continues now go read the manga." For all the fans of Attack on Titan that were pissed about the Jr. High filler anime be glad you at least are getting a second series. |
