Popular light novel series Zero no Tsukaima by now-deceased Noboru Yamaguchi has been announced to resume until completion. Publisher Media Factory will continue the light novel's publication in its MF Bunko J imprint.

Noboru Yamaguchi died in 2013 at the age of 41, after more than two years of fighting cancer. The remaining plot and ending of the series were assigned to the series' editors by Yamaguchi on his sickbed.

Noboru Yamaguchi began writing Zero no Tsukaima in 2004 with illustrations by Eiji Usatsuka. It was discontinued in 2011 with 20 volumes out of 22 planned volumes due to the surgery and treatment for his illness.

A manga adaptation of the light novel by Nana Mochizuki began serialization in seinen magazine Comic Alive in June 2006, and it ended on October 2009 with seven volumes.

Zero no Tsukaima previously received four TV anime adaptations and two specials. It also received three visual novels for PS2.

The light novel was licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment for English release in 2007 but was later cancelled.

That's very cool of the publishers, even if they care mostly about money. I don't even know ZnT but props from me.

It took 4 years to announce this? I don't know, I just think that this could be fake. money makes the world go around If this is indeed what the author intended, then great. I personally wouldn't like my favorite series written by someone else though, the writing style, the details, all that will be different, and more importantly, nobody knows a character better than the author himself.

Apparently his family also requested to have the novels finished. It was his life's work after all.

I haven't read the novels, but reading this gives me some more motivation to start them.

The 4th season of Zero no Tsukaima is the true ending of the franchise, making a sequel is completely unnecessary.

Wow never expected this to happen. I may not be a fan of the series but I felt for the fans, it's a shame the author passed away at a young age. I'm glad they are finishing it.

Well I didn't expect that...

Glad we'll get the ending he envisioned though as terrible as the franchise is, I've grown a soft spot for some of the characters.

I like the idea of finishing the unfinished works of authors who can't ever finish the works themselves if the author gives his/her ideas to someone he trusts, someone who also knows his style of writing well.

Considering the novel had 4 anime seasons, the novel had to be damn popular. And with only 2 volumes left from 22, there won't be much time to mess things up.

I liked the anime and wouldn't mind seeing another season, especially with the ending the author had in mind. So I really hope they do a good work on these 2 volumes and make it as close to what the author wanted as possible.

I feel sorry that the author died with cancer. No one deserves it.

But I don't feel sorry for the fact that his novel sucks.

I hope someone continues Kaze no Stigma.

Not a fan of the novel. The anime is not enough for me to interested on it. I tried reading the first volume of the novel once out of boredom but after I completed volume 1, I totally lost interest continuing it.

Great news to the fans but their are far more better LNs that deserve this instead.

Heard about it yesterday, was very surprised but I'm curious as to how it turns out. Not sure it's really *needed* though but why the hell not

You know that was an anime original ending they made in order to make up for the fact that the author died before the series was over right? :s

Maybe they wanted to get things right?

The LN was far from godly, but it was still better than the last two seasons of the anime, so maybe I'll pick it up again. It's an entertaining enough read, and still better than some of the LNs that are popular nowadays...

If only it would happen to Kaze no Stigma... *sigh*

The author passed away half a year after the series was over. And IIRC, he wrote the script for the anime, just in case he would die before it was done airing, so if thatls true, then the ending is as canon as you can get, as far as the anime is concerned. Maybe the LN will deviate from that, we'll have to wait and see.

Either way, I like the idea of the series finally coming to a full closure. Everyone wants it, including the fans, so I see no reason to not do it. Plus, it's a nice tribute to Yamaguchi.

One of my favorite fantasy/romance series. If a 5th season was ever made, it has the potential to give the series a real ending.

Always had mixed feelings for ZnT, but I think is still good news. The Series wasn't all that great IMO although it was still decent compared to all the clones we have these days and the series deserved an ending when it was so close to finishing.
This sure is an amazing signature!

I don't know how you can say the 4th season wasn't an ending, that's about as conclusive as you can get. I imagine the LNs will end much the same way.

Despite how bad the series turned out to be partway through, I really enjoyed it.

Been a long time since it's finished though.

Anyway, I wonder if the last two volumes would get any sort of adaptation in the future. Not sure if I wanna read the LN

Probably because the vast majority of season 3 and 4 was pandering harem fanservice garbage. Granted, the LN is not innocent, but it at least tried to give a decent fantasy plot.

I am on the fence with this one. One part of me is saying that it is pretty cool that they are going to give complete the Author's last work kind of as a completion to his life's work.

However, part of me is also saying that it might just be better to leave it as it is, incomplete. I feel like if someone else writes the ending to the Light Novel it will kind of take away from his writing style and turn it into someone else's story. I feel like that in a way is kind of disrespectful.

I would love to hear others thoughts on this.

From what I heard, the author wrote the ending already (someone correct me if I'm wrong though). The editor was entrusted with the rest of the work.

There is big difference with how plot goes from LN and anime. I won't say anime ending canon with how the way LN progressing.

I might just watch the anime/s simply because of this act of kindness and respect towards the author (let's forget about the economic aspect for a second, shall we?). Even if it's utter crap, I'll give it at least six episodes.
