This was a bad episode. No one wants to see Gon all emo and useless... lets just forget that it even happened.

It's not that surprising Gon is like that, Hisoka basically shattered his self-confidence.

I think Killua should have kept the extra badges. I know he'll have no trouble holding on to his, so it's not like he needs back up badges, but he could've eliminated more participants by not throwing them away...

Did Gon leave the badges? I thought I saw him put them in his backpack.

Feeling: Deppression, Condolence

This was for sure a deppresive episode... But in my opinion it provided with a very important approach many shonen manga wont cover... Gon missing his home and his relatives (Mito-san) meanwhile he was in this difficult moment... It gave realism to the plot, i mean he is still a kid!!
In some points it felt like a filler, tho
And Killuah against those guys... hahaha i was like "oh poor guys they probably felt raped when it all finished"

Overall: An important episode, but overextended...

Well I liked the episode. Hisoka completely had Gon in his hand while Gon feels he failed miserable. He basically had his enemy help him and then throwing it at his face, it's sadistic really, I wouldn't be very happy if I were in Gon's shoes.

Sometimes you need a loss to get stronger, to be able to come back and learn from the experience.

I really like what they did with Gon and Mito-san here. Also, the throwing up. Super gross but the right touch to show the desperation and helplessness he is feeling for the first time. It also enhances the reveal of a major personality flaw.

Also, not sure if it was in the 2011 version, but looking back, this is the point at which Gon realizes that he doesn't want to rely on his friends too much. That he wants to become strong on his own merits. Both a good and a bad desire, one we'll see the fruits of by the end of the Chimera Ant arc.

The 4th test is kinda dragging on. I like how they gave Gon some depth this episode, but I'm ready to see what comes next.

I'm level on mal-badges. View my badges.

Gon actually recovered quite fast. Okay episode, the previous one was better. Let's see what's next.

So many drawn out scenes in this one... I hope the 2011 version has much much better pacing.
I assume that snake guy overwhelmed the "princess" and now also Leorio?

I think episode was spectacular. Having watched the 2011 version, Gon's unshakable optimism was a tad off-putting. Sure, he had some setbacks, but it wasn't very apparent that he was worried about his Aunt and he bounced back too quickly from his failures.

In this episode, Gon did make it back to his old self, but not before some serious reflection. I really like how this version of the show gives Mito's character more substance which in turn makes Gon a more complete character.

I felt so bad for Gon... Hisoka being the harsh "dark" unknown existence contradicted Gon's "happy" self, and that resulted in him getting pretty much... traumatized.

I kind of liked the episode, Gon’s scenes were surely long, but it expressed an inflection point in Gon’s development, that experience made him change and realize how far he’s from being strong. I really hate Leorio sometimes, he just never thinks in a plan, when in a world like this, nothing is what it seems. Poor Hanzo, hahahaha.

Leorio: Don't enter
Gon and Kurapika: Lets enter
