I'm actually going to be mad if this show doesn't get a sequel while World God Only Knows does even though it's TV ratings are really, really bad.

I mean, in TV ratings, Zakuro kills that show.

Popularity most of the time never reflects quality.
So many shows come to mind that prove that point.

True that. Unbelievable and unforgivable. Over the years, I have seen that some shows will never get the hype, despite being some of the best out there. Anime masterpieces anyone? Good examples are this and this, since you'll never hear many people talking about them. Otome Youkai Zakuro and Kuragehime are most likely to add to that criteria.
Actually, I just recently had someone recommend Cross Game to me. Now I have even more incentive to watch it!

It's a complete mystery to me as to why shows like that get second seasons. It's not bad show, but by no measure at all is it an amazing show that deserves a second season. Same goes for OreImo, which is by no means revolutionary, yet somehow immensely popular. Must be Kuroneko/Kana Hanazawa.

Another great episode. Lord Amaryoju was funny giving pocket money to Agemaki and Riken like they were little kids. Riken and Susukihotaru looked just like a family taking out their childrens for a walk. Zakuro was so funny blushing when she denied that Agemaki he's her partner. The maze scene was excellent especially the part where Agemaki holds Zakuro's hand and telling how he feels about her.
I think there isn't a person who didn't expect Hanadate/Omodaka to be the antagonist.
Good to know that Zakuro finally feels the same way as Agemaki.
I suspect that they will rush things now with only 3 episodes left.

I will be sad when this show will be over. I also hope for second season and I will surely buy this dvd.

Precisely! I do like the (Shiori) arc they're going into for Kami, Susukihotoru is just plain adorable, and Kuroneko is also awesome. I'm glad Kana's doing a lot of voicing this season.

But her best role in anime is in the best ongoing anime as Tsukimi.

BTW guys I just got vol. 4 and 5 (most recent) today and although I don't have much time to read it yet (just started a new job) vol. 5 doesn't even seem close to the end to me...so i really hope they go for another season at some point!

Same with Kuragehime (just got vol. 6 and not even close to done).

Let's pray for good dvd sales though I have to say the japanese market always seems to favor the trashiest kind of overhyped anime. well, one can always hope...

True that.

Same goes for the people on this side of the ocean. Overhyped anime always do better than the genuinely good stuff. -_-"

yep, it's the same thind everywhere but when japanese studios decide on sequels they do it based on japanese sales. which are sometimes just...unspeakably wrong.

Once again GORGEOUS animation, character design and visual. Top quality voice acting.

Even if the storyline is cliche, there are enough qualities for this series.

Bakuman ended low on animation budget, but the base material is good so it's ok as long as they remain faithful.

Same thing for Index, but the animation budget should be higher for the action scenes

As for Tantei Opera..... :/
As you said, the story is cliche but everything is interesting enough to watch and not to say that this show is a lot of better than many others show in this season.

Oh yeah, Tantei Opera Milky Holmes is many times more awesome than the P&S, and countless time more funny than the Boring-Squid Girl.

Perhaps the fact that I haven't watched as much anime as others helps, but I haven't found this story too cliche at all. Yes, some of it is predictable, but most entertainment is in my opinion. What gets me is the number of times my spine tingles watching this show. I average about 1.5 spine tingling moments per show. This one made up for a couple that didn't have any! It was superb!

As for a 2nd season, I would love to see it, but I expect we will have to wait on more source material before they can do that. The manga has 5 volumes out, 4 were out before the show started, the 5th just came out. My gut instinct tells me that this season covers volumes 1-4. I would love to see them put out a 2nd season in about 2 years when Lily has gotten up to volume 8 or 9. :)

well depending on how the story ends, we'll get hints if it will ever have a second season or not...let's hope it will get an open ending.

i for one really love this show....hah, makes me wonder if Agemaki will actually kiss Zakuro or not before the series ends :-/

Not always, there are quite good number of shows out there which never ended, despite having it open ended, and following the manga to the last episode.

Furuba anyone? or may be the most recent ones like Hakushaku to Yousei and Skip Beat!

If your anime doesn't show boobs or pantsu, no matter how good they are, they won't sell much as long as DVD/BD are concerned, and thus you are likely to not have a sequel. There are exceptions, but very few in number. :/

So what kind of being is Lieutenant Sanada? I know is not human, but I don't think he's a demon either. A lot of thing reminds me of inuYasha and one of the is the name of the guardians of the temple. If I remember correctly Sesshoumaru two headed dragon's name is A-Um or A-Un?

The list of shows that I wish would get another season and the list of shows that I love dearly are very closely related... Ah My Goddess, Spice and Wolf, Blue Drop (to name a few...)

I have high hopes that Zakuro will return once the source material has enough volumes to warrant another season...

This ep was super, it really was. I got to see Zakuro blush alot of times and then run away. When she runs away, she is kidnapped and then she learns about some crazy stuff and runs away again. Run damnit RUN for your life!

Lots of things happened that were so good that I gave it 5/5 - -

No male half-spirits... It's sad they don't take on a similar form. ):
& the other girl are used a tools and laborers, that's not fair I'm sure they have some sort of power, they should all get together and break away...~

I loved how honest, and serious Agemaki was with Zakuro, I'm sure now she really knows how he feels ;)

~Episode was great, pretty intense near, & Hanadate was super obvious as the bad guy, they pretty much gave it away in the opening theme, when I saw him in the mask... sadly it doesn't hide much of anything.

This has really gotten intense and sad at the same time. Loved this episode because of it. Agemaki needs to hurry up and save Zakuro. I couldn't imagine a worse place for your woman. On one side a hot guy's waiting to get her PREGGERS and on the other side a jealous skank is trying to kill her. *fan self* Oh my! It's like a soap opera except with demons and bishies.

Always liked tibetan guardian dogs\lions, they are so cute!

Agemaki x Zakuro maze part, so good, more than good.

Hmm. Again I have to say that Zakuro somehow manages to avoid feeling cliched, it's like a classical play where you can predict most of the things happening but still enjoy the ride. Or rather, a modernized remake of a classic play - lighter in structure but still following ropes. They should make Drama CDs and such, they go well with good seyuu and character driven series with not much of a plot.

But to the point. I can feel a turn for the drama, it becomes emotionaly more heavy but it didn't become a tragedy.. yet. Hanadate is shown to be more inhuman and his desire for Zakuro seems more like a hunger than anything. Cold even if burning. Fortunately, he decided to wait a little, instead of raping Zakuro on the spot...

The way things are in the village are sad to say the least. Those half-spirits are being discriminated wrongly. We see that there is no inherent taint in them, but powerful beings as they are, they sure would face fear and prejudice from people and authorities. Again I feel bad for our half-spirit cast - they are basicaly doomed to be, at best, second-class citizens when their heritage is revealed, and then we have all so humane matters of romance troubling them.
I wonder what's the matter with male half-spirits. Aren't Hanadate one? I understand they just get treated so poorly they never develop into persons unlike females in the village.

I can already see Rangui dead though. A spider or not, (another awfully similar thing with InuYasha, referring to Naraku), she went overboard to try to kill someone who is suppose to bear the child of her master. Is she just stupid or what? I really don't know. And consuming her will give her the power as a concept was unfortunately taken from the same anime I just mentioned. :P

Hey, it could work! Consuming Zakuro and taking her "energy" Hanadate was so keen on tasting would make her highly desirable for him, so she could finaly get laid... Or not. Hell, I thought he was going to do it with Byakuroku the way he was holding her <_<

garfield15 said:
I love how Hanadate, or should I say Ondoko, was removing his mask all slowly and revealing as if we DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW WHO HE WAS! :P

Lol. Right :D

P.S. It saddens me that Ganryuu x Twins are no more than filler, but at least they had their moment in ep5... Up to the last few episodes I felt like all coupless progressed equaly, but it seems we will have only Agemaki x Zakuro in the spotlight for now on.

Well at least the Black Widow is good for something other than showing her cleavage.
So Omodaka just wants Zakuro to bear his child huh. He's neither half or full youkai so what is he O_o
