| It is the abomination of all anime and manga. All you have to do is throw in one fanservice scene, and you've ruined a whole episode/chapter. Throw in a few, and the work dies. It's no wonder people hate TTGL, KlK, and SAO. Not. Shooting in the dark with SAO, btw. Fanservice is just an appeal to the fanbase, be it ecchi, action, or otherwise. It basically comes down to the execution. You could argue that works which incorporate a lot of fanservice are inherently worse, but that's not necessarily true either. Only when it distracts from the purpose of the anime or weakens the narrative does it become negative. |

| i don't really have a problem with it, its just sometimes it feels like its thrown in there because the artist's/producers feel they HAVE to otherwise there going to be shunned by anime lovers for not showing sexy panty shots or beach episodes, it MOSTLY never develops plots, it dumbs down characters and doesn't do anything for them, its time wasting and..... i'm not going to say its horrible and i hate fan service i really don't but its tiresome to get through sometimes! |

| For me the things that are wrong with fanservice in a nonecchi anime are that it ruins the intensity of the anime, ruins the romanticism and smoothness in the relationships between characters, and it makes the guys look like annoying idiots (which sometimes they are). In fact i'll admit that in most anime I watch I would be ten times more satisfied if the characters had sex. Things like boobfalls, peeping, accidentally flipping skirts and what have you make the boys look like idiots and perverts, therefore reducing their appeal to the girls. This means that the girls will not be as romantically interested in them and nobody will have sex. Characters are more likely to have sex if the males are not seen to be sex obsessed immature perverts by the girls. Just take Yuusuke from Green Green as an example. He was a bit perverted but was soon discovered to be a kind and caring boy who actually cared about relasionships, and what do you know by episode 13 he got laid. |

| It depends on how is this fanservice used. If you start watching anime that is all about fanservice and that is its main selling point I dont see anything wrong with it and I can even enjoy it. For example stuff like to love-ru, Kiss x Sis, Nisemonogatari, Aki Sora, DNA² etc are perfectly fine and highly enjoyable. But if you have this serious story and they decide to lighten up a mood and show you some panty shots, naked girls or some stupid beach/pool/onsen and whatever crappy episode its only annoying and totally ruins my anime. So properly used fanservice which fits the story or theme of anime is fine. Fanservice which is used only to increase the sales or popularity of anime because they can't make a proper story or mood is simply bad. But overall I will always prefer anime without fanservice. |

| Fanservice usually means a shit plot. Personally I don't have a problem with fanservice if it supplements the anime rather than be the main objective. As for the whole objectifying thing, there is a lot more shit out in the world that objectifies women than a simple panty shot in an anime. I'd say if you don't like it then just don;t watch it. There is no need to deny it to other people just because you don't like it yourself. |
