Nah, I can't have fun when it is not great as the manga. The ost is good and the animation is better than the two first movie. I don't care about the background. They were already good in the other movies.

And I hate this attitude. Can't have fun? Don't watch the movies. You don't care about the backgrounds? Half of what makes Berserk so damn good is the artistic direction being so unique for a manga. Don't fool yourself into thinking Berserk is the pinnacle of storytelling as you're way off the mark, it's a combination of EVERYTHING that makes it so good - The movies succeed at some parts of that, but falls flat on others.
.

I talk about the anime and I said it already good. In the manga, it's something else. This is the perfection. I have a right to be very disappointed with the project. I have a right to want the best for my favorite manga, but it turned out that this was not the case for me.I do not have much positive point to say.

You have a right not to like that kind of message, but I will not hide my opinion.

I dislike the fact that they couldn't manage two of Berserk's greatest scenes ever.

Nonetheless, very gruesome. Definitely a decent adaption of the series haha.

IMO they fucked up when they left out the part where Griffith faked his death, held a little girl hostage and burnt a tower full of people. The whole series is a mess, which is such a shame. I wouldnt recommend this to anyone, if you want to get into the franchsie read the manga, there is the ass kicking going on. The movies were just too rushed and retconned to be a "good" (faithful?) adaptation, bad CGI that will look even worse in 5 years left aside.

You know what the CGI reminds me of? Alien 3.

At the time it was quite a feat, but now it's just laughable. Only, Berserk is like the same level as Alien 3 in the modern day, which is beyond sad.

3 movies in one year, and from an animation studio I expected better from. Really stupid.

The subs sucked.
Anyway, I was hoping they at least wouldn't skip how the king really feels about his daughter (since it was heavily implied in the previous movie) and a bunch of other stuff they skipped, but whatever..

That's not during the Eclispe. It's a few sequences later right after the skull knight expalins to Guts his new situation. The movie literally ends one seconde before it happens.

He did say that, it was right before Griffith said "I sacrifice".

Anyway, great movie. Definitely better than the previous 2, even though they left quite a lot of stuff out.
Just wonder if we'll ever see more. Probably not, but a man can dream right?

Definitely enjoyed this movie more than the other two. As someone who has only seen the TV series, seeing skull knight was pretty awesome! Some quite disturbing rape scenes, this movie was brutal man. O_O

Eclipse was the best one of all movies. I could feel Guts pain/anger while Griffith do all that to Caska, btw, everytime I see Eclipse I remember how much I hate Griffith. The rape scene mas brutal.
They cut the part that Guts try to kill Caska while they have sex coz he remembers the sexual abuse from his childhood. I guess they wanted to make their love scene more "epic", coz that's the memory Guts always remember when he see Caska's new self.
I hope we have some new OVA/Movie next year!

I was wondering if the Eclipse would have the same effect on non manga readers as it has had on us (I assume we are all manga readers in here). The other two movies are so short that characters aren't given enough time for people to get connected, so I'm wondering if the scene in this movie is better for us because of our knowledge of the source material.

Also I hope they drop the CGI in any subsequent movies, I rather they take 2+ years to drop each movies than get this CGI. TBH the stuff used on skull knight and the apostles wasn't bad, it looked good actually, but the humans... they need to hand draw those.

I haven't read the manga. I watched the original animated series, which I loved, so it was a pleasure to see it redone. Although I think the original series handled some of the characters' relationships better, I have to say I LOVED the 2nd and 3rd movie. I think I especially loved them because I don't have this legendary manga to compare them to. Obviously I can't tell what's missing, and it felt very cohesive to me. The only complaint I have is that Casca looked like she enjoyed the rape and I kind of wish Guts got more angry. For some reason I remember him being even angrier in the series... maybe I'm wrong though, it's been a while. I'll read the manga one day...

Yes Griffith "femto" raped her.
she was crying and at some point she was saying to guts to not watch.
plus, she couldn't resist cuz she was half conscious (after the other apostles played with her :P)
and the tantecle was wrapped around her hands.

Mother of God, that was amazing. Enjoyed every second of this fucking masterpiece, especially loved the Griffith lake scene, where he tries to kill himself, you can clearly see that dude just doesn't care anymore, he's done, until he finds his behelit, then we go to fucking Eclipse, holy shit, first of all, the deaths of Hawk's commanders are perfect, the appearance of God's Hand was spot on (btw when I heard my girl Miyuki Sawashiro voicing Slan, I came) and on top of all that, dat rape. SK did his stuff like a boss, that fight against Zodd was like only 1 minute long, but SK fucked him up really good, and his encounter with Void was priceless.

Some things were left out from the manga as we all expected, but I'm kinda glad that they left out the part with king and his daughter, then again I'm kinda disappointed for not seeing Wylad and more of Silat vs Guts stuff, but I'll let it slide.

The after credits stuff got me hyped up so much, especially that "This is only the beginning" title, I truly hope they continue this and animate more, especially the Conviction Arc, dem crazy executors.

As in a release outside of Japan?
The second movie won't even be out in the US until August, so I doubt we'll be getting the third one anytime soon.

Best movie in the trilogy IMO. They actually put in more details from the Manga than the other two movies and that is to be commended. The art and animation are much, much better than they were previously. My only problem is that I don't like Guts's seiyuu, he doesn't capture Guts very well IMO.

Well this image makes it look like they originally planned to actually show why Rickert wasn't with the Band of the Hawks before the Eclipse. It still would have been different from the manga, but it would have been nice to have this potential scene...

In the original anime didn't Rickert go to a camp for recruits and they all got slaughtered by monsters?

They only mentioned he left in the movie and even at the end he never says anything to guts about it. Haven't read the manga so not sure what really happens

Well the raep scene is as always mindf*cked, but at least we will have the continuation not like when i watched the earlier series

Man, that was great. I personally don't see what's wrong with the animated 3D scenes, but I'm no art critic so it's probably just me. I actually thought it looked pretty good during the fights.

While I don't like it skipped some things, or put different things in the same scene while they shouldn't, I think they did an amazing job on the Eclipse itself. I dare to say the eclipse in the movie was even better than the anime and manga!

I am completely disappointed by the third movie. It was the worst so far, with the second one taking a lead and the first somewhere inbetween. My expectations were crushed.

I really wanted to, but I hardly felt touched by any of the scenes. As someone above said - manga was a dozen times more moving and even made me shed a tear or two. I was waiting for the same moment in the movie, but without a success (prison cell scene, Griffith's 'eavesdropping' and many others - I'm pointing at you).

Voice acting and sound composition in general weren't well executed. The soundtrack didn't fit the, especially dramatic, mood. Guts' lamentation sounded, not fake, but very weak compared to the emotions the character was trying to portray.

The only memorable thing was L'Avènement_06 (Guitares '1135') from the soundtrack, which will be a common guest on my playlist.
