The MAL userbase is super 'MEH' wouldn't give a crap what they think, because they like stuff with Major Story and stuff. Not all of them is like that..

Haha, thanks. I can see why people enjoyed it, but it hit all the dealbreaker buttons for me.

As for SAO... I just think the whole first arc (and the direction it was implied to be going) could have been the whole story and it would have been fine. One could argue it would have been predictable, but I'd rather have enjoyable and predictable than whatever THAT mess was.

Hello, random stranger. :D Well I think western cartoons tend to be more children-friendly. A little blood is of course present in some of them, but Japanese anime tend to go through really mature and fcked up themes like: rape, incest and etc. And the whole ecchi genre is weird. All of this stuff created by USA or such is rarely present. Because of all this I think Japan is pretty fcked up and has some weird culture. :D Though I watch every genre anime I tend to go more towards more universal shows that are set NOT in Japan but in some fantasy world ( Attack on Titan, HxH, etc. )

Anyways, that is my differences between western cartoons and anime. :D

Because I'm from somewhere around there as well. ;)

Btw, I see you watched Gits Sac, but you haven't seen 2nd GIG yet. It's very good and one of my favorites. The opening is great too. Gits has the best music I've encountered in anime so far.
