The only reason they bothered licensing Us Dudes Ain't Got Wings is 'cause it's cheap and it's proven ecchi sells in America.

I love this series. There are only a few parts I didn't like such as the gangs and their drama.

Funi, why this anime, Oretachi sucks, try getting Denpa Onna or something else that's good.

1000 times this. I honestly don't understand their licensing, it seems so random and thoughtless.

Even Media Blasters have a brain, they just licensed Squid Girl (has both subs and dubs) with a ton of bonus features to boot.

why do they take the bad shows. Just about anything else this season would have been a better choice.

I honestly dropped this after episode two because I thought it was rather poor on both the ecchi front and just in general.(I'm alright with random jumps but I hated the timing of all of the jumps). This is good for people who really liked this but if they were going for a ecchi show Dororon Enma-kun would have been nice.

They might as well fucking license Yosuga no Sora.
At least I'd have a reason to sell all the BD's I bought for it, Sora's was effing expensive.

Don't give Funi ideas like that, I never want to see Yosuga licensed outside Japan, that was one of the worst anime I've seen in a while.

I agree this anime is just as weak as Yosuga no Sora in the ecchi department, Hidan no Aria would have been a better choice for Funi.

They're licensing this... but dropping Higurashi. I'm feeling somewhat raged.

I don't know much about Oretachi but from what I do know about it I am about 95% sure that Higurashi is a better series, which I am still angry about them dropping. Unfortunately, it is true that ecchi shows tend to sell better in America.

It's all about sales. Good quality does not necessarily equate to good sales. Likewise, poor quality does not necessarily equate to poor sales. As someone already said, fanservice series are proven sellers in the US. That's why series like this continue to be licensed.

I haven't seen this show yet. I do plan on trying it out sometime. If I find it decently entertaining, then I will probably buy it.

Coupled with the fact it's probably cheaper due to it not doing so well in Japan.

That would explain a lot, especially when you consider how funimation have been hemorrhaging money recently. It does boggle my mind though, who actually goes out and buys those bad ecchi series funimation sells?

I would imagine it's the same kinda 'moe" culture in the states. I personally don't understand it and don't want to so for all I know I'm completely offbase.

I wouldn't say that.
You wouldn't appreciate it if someone called you a moron for your spending and or hobbies now would you?

If they like it and it's what they want....more power to them. More cash flow means more money for better series when they come along.

I wonder who buys the ecchi titles Funi licenses, if any save for HOTD, I can see that selling but the rest I give a big no. They don't license the good ones very often for one thing, I could see their marketing strategy being ok if they at least licensed the good ecchi titles.

Funi didn't license HOTD, Sentai did.

Funi's biggest ecchi license over the past couple of years has been Strike Witches.

Sentai and Media Blasters snatches up the good series, both each got 1 of the best anime for Winter 2010.

I got the impression that Higurashi didn't sell because they picked it up from a previous distributor, and far too late too. Everyone who was interested in Higurashi S1 already had it.

What's sad is it means you won't be able to buy a hard copy of S2 or the OVAs (unless if you go for Region 0 / import).

My guess is they thought Higurashi would bring money since it had somewhat of a fanbase.

Doubt that'll happen,Funi released Strike Witches and nothing like what you said has happened.there are bigger issuses out there then this.
