ReZero maybe struggling due to the pretty big other shows that had BDs out at the same time? If people already spend all their money on Osomatsu and KonoSuba there's less left for ReZero~ And then you have Jojo on top of that as well |

Don't worry everyone, Mayoiga and Big Order will save this season anime sales. I am actually sad that it looks like nothing will reach 10k this season unless Re:Zero legs are quite strong. When was the last time we got such low sales? |

I always had a good laugh when I looked at their amazon stalker points lol. It's legs look really strong but I don't think it can go past 8k maybe 8.5k at best. Well the only show that has a realistic chance to break the 10k mark is Macross, so there's that. I don't really know when the last time was but it's not uncommon for this happen once in a while. |

Hoppy said: Haifuri will do fine soon, but RIP Spring sales, there's nothing I else I liked that may get a second season. That depends on what source these shows have or who is part of the production committee. If you look at an anime original like Kabaneri then yeah it's not too good since this is their main income source. If you look at shows that adapt manga or LN then this doesn't resemble their entire financial success. Prime example for manga would be BNHA and for LN it would be Re:Zero. Wo while I don't know what other shows you liked, I wouldn't look at it so negatively for now :) |

And with no high profile sequels coming out this year is probably going to be one of the worst in the last 6 years. You're forgetting about UtaPri Season 4, which will do very well too, although not as good as Love Live Sunshine, unless the anime ends up being a disaster. It's true though, that there aren't many high profile sequels that can save this year besides those 2 (well technically Love Live Sunshine is an alternative point of view rather than a sequel). What needs to happen is a dark horse to emerge, such as Madoka Magica in 2011, or a totally unexpected breakthrough, such as Girls und Panzer in 2012. Doesn't Osomatsu-san count? Only the season an anime started airing in is relevant, unless it is a split cour. Osomatsu-san was just a 2 cour anime that started airing in Fall 2015, so no it doesn't count in this case. |

It's coming, the end of the BD era and the start of the STREAMING ERA. BD will remain as a collectors item of course but will not be as vital to success anymore. sterlingcrave said: does anyone actually have a clue why the sales this year are so abysmal? Economy is not doing good, so less money for people to spend on anime, also Streaming is now getting big so more people are not buying anime disks. RELIFE has already streamed it's entire season before it even aired on TV and more shows are getting funded based on steaming sales. |

Well guess flying witch kinda did well with 2.5k but Tanaka to not even sell 1k just agh to painfull. I'm kinda salty about that, Tanaka and Flying Witch definitely deserved better. Even Kuma Miko sold more than Tanaka, I thought people hated it. Seems like every show this season kinda flopped, not even Jojo got 10k. |

Doesn't matter what you think lmao. Really? Could have sworn it was made for Japanese audiences considering it was produced in Japan and had a Japanese cast, but what would I know? And that's anecdotal evidence. Also popularity on 2ch doesn't mean really it'll sell a ton. There's more that goes into buying stuff than just discussing it. Also 2ch doesn't always line up to what is popular due to it being more biased towards male users. You can't really get a grasp on what the fujoshi/female fans like cause they take to different places like twitter or something to discuss their preferred shows. |

G_Spark233 said: I was expecting re:zero to be a lot higher. ^ Basically this. The show had a lot of hype everywhere and considerable amount of stalker points so it was expected to do far better at least in 10k+-15k+ range . Not sure if it is a good thing or bad thing tho, considering the direction the show went into. I'll reserve my judgement on whether it deserves more or less sales till end of show. Did it really? It has practically no promotional campaign until this last few weeks where it's been picking up steam. Shows like Kiznaiver (bombed), Stray Dogs, Kabaneri have huge marketing campaign and was hyped up before it even airs. Esp Kiznaiver ( with huge backing from multiple producers and advertisers) There are giant billboards of these shows. Its literally the only show I see talked about everywhere both in JP sphere and in western sphere. It might not have had a marketing campaign on level of Kabaneri, but the word of mouth is absolutely insane and almost reaching Madoka airing levels. And in the west, its basically this years Erased/Parasyte/FSN etc - aka the show that no matter what gains huge following of viewers. You go to western sites and its all re;zero, bokuhero, re;zero, jojo, re;zero, boku hero. You go to jp stuff like 2chan and etc and its all the same too. The show had considerable amount of stalker points too. Yet so far this is basically trailing lower than expected - around Rakudai level of sales - and that show had almost no hype anywhere despite being great. Its just baffling. Wow. I didn't know JP also had the same level of hype and online discussion that we are having. Man. Shame that it sold so low. With the amount of talk her alone, I was expecting it to break 10k at LEAST. |

The thing is there is only so much you can do against various heavy hitters. Besides this guy exaggerated a lot.
