SynopsisYuuto is your average, high school boy just turned 16. His childhood friend, Rin has taken care of him ever since his parents died when he was younger. All of a sudden, a girl named Himari walks into his life. Himari is a cat-girl samurai who is sworn to protect Yuuto. There's only one small problem: Yuuto is allergic to cats!

If your that person that can't stand that pathetic weak main character or gets annoyed by bouncing breasts, I definitely suggest you cross this anime from your list right now. However besides that, Omamori Himari does live up to its harem and ecchi genre. Before I continue any further, just remember this is a review and not an synopsis. I have read many reviews that just gives out way too many spoilers yet a lot of people label it as helpful.
The whole demon thing didn't capture me from the start. Truth be told, when I started watching episode one I didn't expect much and I almost dropped it. After finishing the series though, I told myself,"Hey! that wasn't half bad at all!" There are many ecchi harem anime that just gives an entire new meaning to 'crap', but this one was quite enjoyable.
As with many other ecchi series, the art almost never pose to be a problem. With that said, you can surely enjoy the artwork of Omamori Himari.
The music was not outstanding but not bad either. Wasn't something that truly touched me or anything. However the music that plays during the climax of the story are pretty good.
As with many others, almost all the cast of characters were female. But being a guy, hey I'm not complaining.
If you are against ecchi harem anime, please do not flame it. Just keep it to yourself or maybe try reading the genres of each anime before you watch it. But if you are into those stuff, you could find this anime to be quite enjoyable.
Overall this anime deserves an 7/10. Unlike many other ecchi anime, the producers of Omamori Himari seemed to actually have put in effort to the storyline read more
This is stereotypical harem/ecchi anime with a bunch of cliché characters and an ending that everyone else saw million of times. That pretty much sums it up.
Long ago there were demons (called Ayakashi) that killed humans. Some Ayakashi weren’t evil. Himari is one of them. That Ayakashi appears on 16th birthday of our main protagonist, Yuto. She claims that she is bound by oath to protect him from the evil Ayakashi.
Sounds interesting, ka? I don't think so. The story itself is typical good versus evil with magical girls. The whole concept of good and evil ayakshi is more of a subplot for most of the series though, only playing an important role in the last 3 episodes. The other part of the story is basically Yuto building a "relationship" with Himari and being introduced to a countless amount of girls with big breasts. All these girls commonly try to seduce Yuto so it goes like this. A-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y NOTHING SPECIAL and memorable.
The animation itself isn't bad, but nothing made me go "wow" and nothing really impressed me. It isn’t bad, but I gave it a 4 because look at genres of this anime action and others. But where the hell are the action scenes in this anime? It’s really awfull.
Nothing to talk about. The soundtrack was ok.
Wow.I don’t even know what to say about characters. Really boring and dull. All characters are cliché of typical ecchi anime. There are quite many characters, but only a few are main. The only character who was ok is Himari.
+ Good humor.
+ Entertaining moments, mostly in the beginning and middle.
- Too many (bad) characters
- Cheap looking action scenes.
- Predictable ending
If you are a hardcore ecchi fan you will like. (I am echi fan, I adore anime like Sora no otoshimono and Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari). But Omamori Himari was a real disappointment. read more
Both are about a human that get surrounded by a harem of beautiful female monsters. Also the women are the ones that are fighting in both instead of the man.
Rosario + Vampire is also Harem, not as ecchi as omamori, but it's fun and has a lot of monsters and whatnot...
rosario vampire has the taste of monsters of all kinds while omamori himari are only are only the same monsters. but the general feel is the same except the main guy in rosario vampire acts normal.... for a human surrounded by monsters
Has harems that are largely made up of monsters and other non humans, but still cute!
They are both ecchi and take place mostly in school, both main chars are female and in one they fight monsters and in the other vampires. They are both funny and both of the guys in both series end up with alot of girls around him.
well omamori himari is almost the same as rosario + vampire because you have a lucky bastard getting all the chicks and the chicks mostly are the ones fighting for him, oh yeah and is human and all the girls are monsters
Both Animes are about a weak and helpless human boy being protected by a bunch of girls, or should i say Monsters who fall in loves with the boy. Both anime has many things that are similar for example: Both Are Harems, Ecchi, and many more. another thing that is similar is that at the end of the anime, the human boy protected the the girl.
Both series are categorized as ecchi and harem with the main story dealing with the protagonist beginning as a weak individual who gradually becomes more powerful in order to protect their friends. I also found both series to be peppered with bits of comedy to break up any serious overtones and greatly enjoyed the character development throughout the series.
