Although there are general differences between the animes the first time I watched Digimon on TV I thought immediately hey - those two animes are almost the same - the names of both of them are called after the creatures and those creatures are manually receiving orders from a human to defeat another pokemondigimon creature and in order to beat a powerful creature the digimonpokemon has to develop skills or evolve to another shape their form in order to win, and both of them (especially the adventure series) is an adventure in the world of the creatures to make some kind of goal, and that  read more

Another breed of monster show, this along with Pokemon and Monster Rancher was one of the big 3 monster related shows. Filled with crazy creatures and adventures, if you liked this show (or Pokemon) you will very likely enjoy this series.

Kahn comes from a different world and is teleported to one in which monsters, called Zinba's run rampant. From the start you know he is supposed to save the world but no one believes that he is capable because of the fact he is a small kid. Escaping from the castle that he is taken to, he runs away and ends up running into a golden lion that has an interesting secret. The main reason I beleive others will enjoy this if they enjoy Digimon is that the connection that Linkers have to Zinbas reminds me of how Digmon bond with their DigiDestined which allow  read more

On the net there is another world, a world that people can dive into. What seems to be a game isn't one like the main characters think and their lives end up being turned upside down. The suspense also builds up.

Both stories are about kids, cute & powerful creatures and adventures.

Both of these anime happen to have a very simular theme. A world on the internet with AI, artificial inteligence. In one, you can easily go to the world, while with the other you end up staying away. But it is still two alternative worlds.

I've never tough of this before, but after I saw some fanart crossover between Digimon Adventure and Persona 4, I think they're actually similar... Better you should compare Digimon to Persona rather than Pokémon, why? because in both Digimon and Persona, they're really share much similarities... 1. in Digimon, partner are chosen by destiny, same goes to Persona 2. the human partners in Digimon must get their crest and active it... in order to use the crest, they must understand what're their crest really means, why it deserve to be his/her crest? if they've understand it and take an action about it, the tags and crest will active... same  read more

Both feature children stranded on islands, surviving on their own (shaky) merits and aided by strange creatures. Although Survive is more mature and realistic than Digimon 01, both have the same strong friendship themes and slow character development. On the other hand, Survive lacks battles and power-ups, so if your interest from the Digimon side is in that (or, coming from the Survive side, you can't stand that), avoid. Otherwise these two are really two titles that just fit.

They both are basically based of the same idea: different worlds being parallel to earth. They also have fun talking animal-type things.

Both kids shows that feature fantastical creatures that battle alongside the cast of heroes (the Digimon/Bitbeasts). These creatures are powered by the spirit of their human counterparts.

Both classic kids anime with similar themes & premise. Both target the same demographic with a lot of shared elements (monsters, forces of darkness, young heroes, righteous ideals, toy/video game cross promotion).

Both classic kids monster battling anime, in both the monsters battle alongside the heroes and they are powered up by the spirits of their human partners. Both also heavily teamwork focused.

They are both children's shows that feature young protagonists whom control monsters to battle/duel. They both have many great monster designs and character designs. The art for both shows is great and they both target the same demographic. If you watched one when you were younger you may well have already seen the other but if not, you'd definitely enjoy it.

Both classic "monster tamer" kids anime. Both involve monster companions that speak like humans and communicate & battle alongside kid heroes against the forces of darkness. Both have wide ranges of varied monster designs. Both series also have great humour.

Both show kids with exotic animals as friends. Digital monsters in one shoiw, colorful dinos in this one. The kids are the center of the adventure and the world changes because of the arrival of the creatures.

Seven kids are enjoying their summer when suddenly, a digivice appeared before them, and the next thing they know, they are in the "Digiworld." There, they meet creatures known as digimon. There are evil digimon in the Digiworld, but they are not bad in nature; rather, most of them have been turned evil by nefarious forces. Each child had a digimon waiting for them in the Digiworld; and though not all Digimon are strong, the digivice that the seven kids carry has the ability to allow their Digimon partner to evolve into a stronger type. Together, they will going to embark on a journey to  read more

Both are shows about kids being kind of thrown in a world unknown, full of danger, in which they know nothing, where they need to explore, and with some real worldbuilding.

This may seem like a strange recommendation, but hear me out on this one. Hyouka tells the story of a Houtarou, a high school boy who solves everyday mysteries along with his friends. Digimon Adventure on the other hand has less of a mysteries element, but the connection the characters have as friends has a quite similar dynamic. In the beginning of Hyouka, Houtarou just doesn't want to deal with any other people, but slowly becomes friends the people in his club. In Digimon, we see Tai acting as the main character and he only looks out for himself at first. He too grows closer  read more

Iconic children's monster battling anime. Both have young heroes who ally themselves with each series respective monsters. Both have charming characters and art styles.

Children team up with monsters as their partners and engage in proxy battles - with the humans sometimes actively participating in the fight too. While Digimon is a virtual reality, Buddyfight is an alternative dimension.

These animes have colorful animation, interesting and a bit unusual storyline and lots of vivid colors. I have watched both as a little kid and I remember them fondly for the mysterious atmosphere they gave out and the fact that they never aimed to be blatantly childish, even with kids as the target audience.

Main characters are selected to protect the world. However, they are not the perfect ones for the job. Each character has some family issues such as divorcing parents. They constantly complain about being selected. As story progresses, the main characters mature little my little.

This may look like a strange combination, but it's not. In both series you have a group of kids (all with their personal problems) who are in a different world. They all have to overcome their problems in this world.

Beginning is about transporting another world. In Digimon, you can see, a group of child transporting in a school vacation. In this serie you can also see this.

Digital world with creatures not found in our world, that join up with a human and become friends. Then they have to fight to reach their goal to save everyone.

Both have the same sort idea of one "monster" accompanying the boy, and the boy has a device that "keeps" the monster when not needed. (though different from Pokemon) If you like anime that have that sort of monster idea, you'll like Onmyou Taisenki.

The plot of Digimon Adventure and Bokurano both start with children being chosen during a summer camp to represent and protect their planet. There is also a reason for those children being chosen, but in Bokurano it's shown sooner. These series also involve parallel universes connected somehow, and what is done where children are brings consequences to their universe or world of origin. Children in both anime fight for some reason alongside with beings (in the case of Bokurano, just one being, Zearth) that are not common in their world. At first, children think that's not real (in Bokurano, a simple game, and Digimon Adventure,  read more

An Anime for kids and has a toy lines based on them. The main character looks like Leomon.

Meadabots has a older feel to the animation with even less detailed art but the plot and characters are solid. Instead of monsters you got robots and instead of fighting evil digimon there's a crime syndicate and tournaments with other robots. The reason i think you would enjoy this show if you enjoyed digimon is cause it just has the same feel when watching it. Your interested to see more and learn about the universe your in. You wanna see how they win and all the different types of robots and what exactly they do. it may not be the exact same plot or arch type  read more

Odd that this the first recommendation for these series but: -Both children's anime. -Both shows have similar age characters. -Both shows have sentient monsters. -Both shows have their heroes battle alongside these monsters. -Both great and iconic shows from the same era with similar fandoms and franchises spawned.

What happens when kids have their summer camp? Why, they go on these amazing adventures of course with wierd, talking creatures and they end up in the long run, saving the world by working together.

Both feature a young protagonist with a very limited wardrobe and a powerful partner whom they support via a small handheld device. Also, they both offer relatively light-hearted Saturday-morning-style action.

Similar to Pokemon but the stories are a little less repetitive and gets slightly darker than Pokemon as the seasons go on.Both shows are about kids that find friendly powerful creatures and go on an adventure with them.Though with digimon the monsters are digital creations instead of real lifeforms and unlike most pokemon digimon can talk.Nonetheless both are great children's shows about friendship between kids and creatures.

No recommendation for this yet? Well, old school series like Digimon Adventure probably slipped out of some people's heads. But at any rate, these two series have quite a bit in common. Both series features sci fi themes involving a deep journey to another virtual world that blurs the lines between fiction and reality. In that fictional world, there are digital like beings. Both series has main characters who are independent, skilled, resourceful, and helpful for those in need especially for their friends. Both series has comedy, drama, action, and a game atmosphere setting. Both series sets the fictional world with similar aspects such as the city, ocean,  read more

Perhaps an overlooked series but the classic Digimon and Log Horizon both takes place in a virtual/digital realm surrounded by fantasy atmosphere. The main characters are part of a group as they fight for survival. There are mechanics explained in both series throughout its plot. Digimon Adventures offers more of an adventurous setting while Log Horizon focuses other aspects of the virtual realm such as economics. However, both series relates to its technological realm that the characters are a part of.
