No names or backdrops makes them cardboards to me, which is also what is making them feel shallow and forgettable.

Not a word about all the fan service in Maoyuu! And I wouldn't call positive the fact people are being called after classes or having no backdrop.

Regarding your LUCKY STAR review(I found it helpful coz i put that on hold and you saved me from watching that further).I was also thinking the same in the 1st ep,5 min about how to eat icecream,cake blah blah.Its just a silly gag show around otakus(which cant make everybody laugh).
