Yuusha Party wo Tsuihou sareta Beast Tamer, Saikyoushu no Nekomimi Shoujo to Deau

Among all the beasts that roam the world, there are unique types of "ultimate species" that harbor immense strength and magical prowess considered to be at the top of the power scale. As such, many humans covet their abilities, leading some of these species to the brink of extinction.

As a beast tamer, Rein Shroud can employ the assistance of various animals for many tasks, such as reconnaissance and logistics. By virtue of his ability, he joins a party led by the vile and manipulative hero Arios Orlando, only to be banished after six months due to his uselessness as a non-combative class.

However, unbeknownst to the team that cast him away, Rein is an exception among beast tamers. His potential becomes apparent when he meets Kanade—a cat spirit who is also one of the ultimate species—and is able to form a contract with her. With Kanade by his side, Rein sets out on his journey as an adventurer, steadily rising up the ranks and meeting more ultimate species along the way.

Totally adequate 3rd-screen content. 6/10

TL:DR; The theme of this light-hearted beast-girl-harem power-fantasy is "you shouldn't be able to do that." A sentence that would actually describe a few different shows. This one, though, has some good character design, fun adventures, and passes the "good enough" mark in nearly every aspect.

Have you ever felt inadequate in a group of friends? Like you didn't measure up to their expectations? Did they actively bully you out of the group and demean you? Have you ever wanted to prove to them you were actually a super valuable member of the crew? Like so valuable that if you ... left, everyone's lives would grind to a halt and the leader would obsessively fixate on putting you in your place to the point of self-destruction? Have you ever wanted to tread the line between "pets" and "wives"? Well, fortunately for you, Beast Tamer perfectly encapsulates that shallow revenge fantasy with a side of harem.

There isn't a lot more to say. If it's one of your very first harems, I could see it sticking the landing. But, in every aspect from animation, plot, sound design, and more, this series scores a solid 6/10. It's not bad by any means, but this girl-based monster collector series will not be anyone's favorite and will not leave a lasting mark on your soul.

Mixed Feelings

the plot is basically non existant, it may as well be another boring harem slop anime, and it basically is, with the difference being that its executed in a way that's really satisfying, especially based on the track record of harem anime. now, if you want good plot, and you want to actually consume any brain power watching this, give up, do NOT watch this. but if you're bored and just want a nice happy ending type thing, this is for you. i really enjoyed this anime personally because i watched right after some slop isekai, and this really was a breath of fresh air

What I liked:
- fairly ok art
- a mostly feel-good tone
- (unfortunately) average (lack of) quality for an isekai. I mean, if you love isekai so much that you're willing to forgive core flaws, this might more or less entertain.

What I disliked:
- it looks and feels more generic than my dog's balls (I misspoke, I actually don't know how my dog's balls feel like)
- the hinted harem with two pedo red-flags
- cardboard flat characters
- no cute tamed animals. Really, it's literally THE main reason to watch a feel-good taming story, wtf?
- the idea of him "taming" people like if having cat ears or dragon tail means ... you are a beast, NOPE, absolute hard line from my side. Even more considering the hinted romantosexual development at the horizon. Imagine, tamed = not fully free, calling him master, looking like a teen or even like a kid, and with romantosexual stuff going on. Only a Japanese could write depraved s... like that.
Truly this kind of s... is why I spent the last years with Korean storytelling. They have other flaws but not this one.
- the copy-pasted "banned by the hero's party", why does such a lame trope get re-used so much? There is so little potential in it. If you really want to use it, at least give it some bare minimum of originality ffs.
- the last half manages to be even more boring. My guess: yet another amateur writer (probably very young) who had a barely decent (copy-pasted) idea for a general concept but ZERO ability to develop a story around it. = the beginning feels acceptable because we get the main (lame) banned trope, we meet the other (equally generic) characters, but then when the story has to kick, there's no ball.
