World Destruction

THE REAL PREMISE:
In a world where oceans are made of sand, and beastmen have rule over humans, a woman seeks to unlock the secrets of the "destruct code" in order to destroy the world. Her motivation: her brother was killed by beastmen. She involves 2 others who engage in some antics until episode 9, when they finally start to unravel the truth behind the "destruct code."

THE GOOD:
- The standard action/adventure plot has a nice twist at the end.
- The characters are likeable, though not immediately so (it took me 8 episodes to warm up to them).

THE BAD:
- The character designs for beastmen are a bit silly. Humans with animal ears? Really? A man with a crocodile's head named Dr. Crocodile? Really?
- Episodes 1 - 8 don't further the plot very much.

CONCLUSION:
Most of the anime is your standard adventure story. There's a twist at the end, but even then, it won't be anything you've never seen before. Also, episodes 1-8 don't advance the plot very much; so, I suggest watching the first episode, and asking yourself, "Do I like these characters enough to stick around until episode 9?" This anime was an okay anime, I enjoyed watching it but it definitely wasn't the best out there but hey, it entertained me for 13 episodes (which when you think about it really isn't a lot of time).

Story. 8

The story really wasn't told very much throughout the middle. Basically you're told that The World Destruction Committee (which consists of 1 person) has an object that can destroy the world.... the Destruction Code. That is told in episode 1... also the WDC gains 2 new members... also in episode one... where do you learn about the rest of the storyline? probably around episode 10 or 11... I don't remember. But really the rest is just character development and traveling of the three and how they positively affect everyone around them... and the real question is "do they really want to destroy the world?"

Art. 7

The art is cute, nothing special. It's comedic, but used in an effective manner. Nothing really stands out until the end where the climax of the series happens... then the animation and art style starts to really stand out

Sound. 7

Nothing special here... I don't even remember it. The opening song i found kinda annoying to and would always skip it. When everybody is happy the tunes reveal a happy tune. It makes a decent atmosphere.

Characters. 10

Easily the best part of the series. Character development here is amazing, I grew to love all of them. However I must say the villians are completely retarded... and Dr. Crocodile is just a joke of a villian... but the main characters and the bond between them seriously was the best part of the series by far.

Enjoyment 8

I enjoyed it. I liked learning about the characters and how they progressed over the 13 episodes. You learn about their personality, their past, and then at the last 2 episodes you get your fix of the story. Not too bad.

Overall 8

We just keep in mind this anime was a promotion for a DS game... that being said don't have high expectations but if you're looking for a short action / traveling from town to town kinda anime (example = Claymore) then I'd say this can satisfy you a bit. The ending is kickass. Note that. It really is awesome.
