About the friends part, yeah, I never said we were or that you should interact with me as though you were, much less like I am your elder. The word I used is amicable. There's no reason to not interact amicably with strangers.


As for your final point, yeah, of course more toxic people exist. I didn't claim you were the most toxic or even one of the most toxic. You're right - I wasn't impressed with your attitude, but that doesn't mean I was offended by it. I understand it's the internet. It's not a question of softness. Like I said, I just thought you were complaining about being mistaken for a hater, but I already granted that was my misunderstanding. I said you were free to disregard the advice, either way. ;)

Yes, like I said, I at no point suggested that ep 17 is the best. I only talked about the spectacle of it. I suggest you read that part of my essay, including some paragraphs back, because I don't think you got the point I was making. I was talking about ep 17 strictly in terms of the effect it has on the escalation and spectacle creep of the story.


I don't have any thoughts on the manga, because I make no secret of the fact that I am an Anime Andy. You don't need to prove to me that the anime does things differently from the manga, because I feel like that's beyond the scope of my review. I was simply analyzing the anime as such - as a standalone work - not its quality as an adaptation. I explicitly said in the essay that manga connoisseurs are better suited for that kind of analysis than I am. In short, I trust your judgement as far as manga comparisons are concerned. I have no issue with you there.


Lastly, I would like to give you a piece of life advice. Feel free to ignore this if you think I'm overstepping. I want to make it quite clear that I am personally not offended. We've got no problem. However, you said that you find it annoying when people complain that you are a hater, when, in your view, you're not actually hating. That leads me to believe that it's a fairly common occurrence for you to be mistaken for a hater, and I believe I might have some idea as to why. You do have a tendency to come off as extremely aggressive. Put it to you this way, saying "I'm not being personal to you" immediately after using the phrase "that is because people like you" is not exactly appropriate for an amicable social interaction. Especially since you did not give my point of view the proper amount of consideration, given that you assumed that I "thought that it's the best thing [I]'ve seen in [my] entire [life]", which is just completely incorrect. Again, please understand that I'm not offended. I'm not bitching at you. I just think that if you lost a bit of that angst, people would react more positively to you.

I think you misunderstood my point. My favorite is episode 16, the JouGOAT fight. What I said is that ep 17 is the most spectacular, i.e. that is when the visual spectacle reaches its absolute zenith (so far). That doesn't make it the best. If you want my personal take on it, while I didn't really have much of an issue with the artstyle and direction - I think it's just a matter of taste, as opposed to something like Naruto vs. Pain - I felt it was just underwhelming in concept. I mean the concept of Makora being the biggest threat. It's literally an NPC that came out of nowhere. I found it... difficult to take him THAT seriously.

Is that to say you didn't like it? Liked it? Couldn't be bothered to read it?
