Great Shoujo Manga

Jul 05 2022, 9:04 AM | Updated Aug 4, 2022 11:14 AM
All of these are Shoujo, there isn’t a single shounen piece in here. These can vary from fantasy Shoujo to action Shoujo. They are not all romantic in nature. None of these are one-shots either, though some are more short than others. Please enjoy these and I hope you find some interesting things in here. I’ve read all of these and loved them so I’d be honored if you’d do the same.
Akatsuki no Yona
Manga, ? vol, 2009 Me:- Author:9
An ongoing work that has great action, characters, romance, plot, setting…. It just dies everything right and more. The characters make this story feel so alive and watching them struggle together to stay alive as well as to help others keeps you in your toes. Then the budding romance between the two main characters has you begging for more chapters almost as quickly as you finish reading them.
Banana Fish
Manga, 19 vol, 1985 Me:- Author:10
This series is probably one of the saddest stories I’ve ever consumed in my entire life. It’s definitely not the saddest but it’s up there. The characters are all well rounded and the action scenes are brutal. It’s a pretty awesome series.
Skip Beat!
Manga, ? vol, 2002 Me:- Author:10
This manga has been ongoing for 20 years and I am head over heels for it! This happens to be my favorite shoujo manga and I think every shoujo fan needs to read this as it’s influenced a lot of shoujo manga today. It’s a wonderful series that I have a sneaking suspicion that it could end in a couple of years. Definitely check this out.
Kamisama Hajimemashita
Manga, 25 vol, 2008 Me:- Author:9
This is another one of my favorite shoujo manga. The lore in this series is so fun and new for a fantasy shoujo. The main characters have some of the best chemistry I’ve ever seen in shoujo manga and the history of the main male lead is so interesting and only gets more so as it unravels. This is another must read.
Manga, 27 vol, 1990 Me:- Author:10
An older series but this manga is a must read for everyone, Legen of Basara is an action packed and emotional journey with a whole lot of highs and lows. Every chapter is beautifully drawn and the intricacies of the story keep you on your toes with every page turn. It’s smart, unique, beautiful, and the characters are all well developed and cool. Read this, it’ll make your day.
Kaichou wa Maid-sama!
Manga, 18 vol, 2005 Me:- Author:9
This series is an amazing read, people watch the anime and then decide to stop there but the romance between these two doesn’t stop there. It only gets better and you get to see how their character’s evolve in the world not only so that they can stay together but also so that they can be their best selves. There are so many more squeal/scream worthy scenes that have you at the end of your rope. READ THIS!
Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori
Manga, 28 vol, 1995 Me:- Author:10
This story is a dramatic, romantic, whirlwind. It leaves you breathless because you never know what’s going to happen next. The characters are all incredibly unique and interesting and watching them develop over time is also fascinating, it’s a long work and I recommend binging it. Check this out!
Love So Life
Manga, 17 vol, 2008 Me:- Author:8
This is a series about a young girl who babysits two children. The children are adorable and watching everyone interacting makes you wish you had children to spoil. It’s just a fluffy and emotional story so definitely read this one.
Dengeki Daisy

Tokyo Crazy Paradise
Manga, 19 vol, 1996 Me:- Author:9
Another hit by the author of Skip Beat and this one is pretty crazy. The plot and the setting are all pretty fun and intriguing and the story itself can rather funny at times. The characters are hard not to ship together and I loved every minute of this read.

Kimi ni Todoke

Kimi ni Todoke: From Me to You

Kimi ni Todoke
Manga, 30 vol, 2005 Me:- Author:9
This is such a cute manga, most people have only seen the anime but I think that’s a real shame. The manga goes in even greater depth and you get to see how their futures together pan out. All of the characters are easy to get attached to and it’s important that everybody reads this.

Saiyuuki Reload Blast
Manga, ? vol, 2009 Me:- Author:-
Manga, 9 vol, 1997 Me:- Author:8
Saiyuuki is an action packed series that deserves more recognition than it gets. It’s fun and violent and there’s no romance plot at all. I’d say the interactions of the main characters keep everything light hearted but it can also get pretty deep and emotional as well. This series does everything right.
Beast Master
Manga, 2 vol, 2006 Me:- Author:8
This is a funny little series written by the author of Dengeki Daisy and I love this one s well. She has a way of making you love all of her characters. This series is probably one of the sweetest things ever and the two main characters are adorable.

This series is so sweet, dramatic, and fun, and it’s by the same author of Ao Haru Ride. It’s so good that there’s a movie out now about it and it’s absolutely stunning. I honestly like this story more than Ai Haru Ride.

Genshijin Kareshi

Primitive Boyfriend

Genshijin Kareshi
Manga, 3 vol, 2017 Me:- Author:8
This series is incredibly cute, sweet, and too short for words. Watching this girl fall in love and try to find her soulmate is just so precious to me that I can’t handle it. I seriously think it’s one of the cutest Shoujo manga I’ve ever read. It looks ridiculous and I was I could say more but I don’t want to spoil the pleasant surprise and it’s also a pretty emotional series. Just try it and see if you like it.

Ichigo Jikan
Manga, 2 vol, 2009 Me:- Author:6
I’d say that this manga is pretty weird. The two main character’s have wonderful chemistry and while the manga can be fun to read it also is a bit controversial as their is a sort of power dynamic in this. Read with caution.
