Despite his passion for mathematics, Haruichi Onoda fails to make the cutoff for admission into the prestigious Royal High School. He instead enrolls at Fukuoka Prefectural Kajimori High School, where he boldly declares at the entrance ceremony that he will represent Japan at the Math Olympiad. As he tries to fade into the background to begin studying for the Olympiad, a stranger refuses to leave his side. Mami Nanase is fascinated by the world of mathematics, but she has no fundamental grasp of the basic concepts. Nonetheless, she tries to push forward and solve problems from previous Olympiads, irritating Onoda in the process. In an attempt to get rid of her, he issues an ultimatum: she has to solve a past Olympiad problem by morning, and if she cannot, she has to leave him alone. As Nanase drafts a messy proof, her frustration and desire to find the answer strikes a chord within Onoda, who slowly realizes that she is serious about mathematics—albeit in her own way. Meanwhile, Onoda struggles to perform well on exams and contend with former classmates who disdain him for having such ambitious goals. As the days left until the Olympiad dwindle, these young mathematicians have a lot to prove beyond the solutions on the exam pages. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Yoshiharu Kawaura is part of the first generation of humans born on the Moon and has a wild dream: to be a part of the elite who live at the center of Newton City. As a homeless teenage runaway with only meager savings and an irreverent attitude, he hides and sleeps in internet cafes while trading stocks on the Lunar Stock Exchange. With his hard work and natural intuition of the market, his seed money of one thousand mools grows to seventy-two thousand mools in a matter of months, with the end to his streak nowhere in sight. Unfortunately, despite the Moon being an economic paradise with limited regulations and low taxes, street urchins like Yoshiharu must always remain on the lookout. After an especially close call with the police, he takes refuge in a church owned and ran by Risa, a part-time worker at a Chinese restaurant. In a stroke of fate, also staying at the church is Hagana, a cold girl with mean eyes and genius-level mathematical abilities. Yoshiharu—now assuming the pseudonym Haru—immediately sees Hagana's potential as a quantitative analyst and establishes a partnership with her for a virtual stock trading competition known to be a ticket into the financial community. As their growing success both in and out of the competition leads to more people investing in Haru and his goal, will he be able to keep his cool and stay on top of the ever-volatile market? Manga, 1988Finished2 vol, ? chp

They are burning Japanese cars in Detroit. The top management at Toyosan Motors must decide whether to begin offshore production of its cars in the U.S. But our hero Mr. Kudo fears that offshore production will devastate the numerous local subcontractors of Toyosan, leading to a hollowing out of the auto industry in Japan, leaving only a financial shell. The American color TV industry has already suffered such a fate. The villain, Mr. Tsugawa, calls Kudo a wimp and sees a splendid opportunity for union busting. Will our hero prevail? Thus begins the first episode of this rollicking yet incisive introduction to the world economy from the Japanese point of view. Other episodes treat the appreciation of the yen, the impact of the 1970s oil shocks, deficit financing, the internationalization of business and banking, and the post-industrial future of Japan and the Pacific Rim. The book is an English edition of volume 1 of Manga Nihon Keizai Nyumon, originally published in 1986 by Nihon Keizai Shimbun, the Japanese equivalent of the Wall Street Journal. It is based on a serious introductory text put out by the newspaper and is packed with informative charts and facts. When the comic book was first published in Japan, it was an immediate best-seller, selling over 550,000 copies in less than a year. The stories in the book reflect Japan's national mood during the "Japanese miracle" and into the 1980s economic bubble: apprehension and optimism jostle one another, and there is a sense of national self-pity. The book also reflects a deep suspicion of politics and bureaucrats. The prime minister appears more worried about his government's popularity than about taking the right economic course. Ultimately, the employees at Toyosan Motors demonstrate that the success of the Japanese economy will not depend on natural resources or politics but on business practices that are ethical, socially responsible, and forward-looking (Source: University of California Press)

The story is based around a self survival concept. Youth unemployment is becoming a bigger social problem, and adolescents do not know how to survive without the aid of others. For this purpose, a group of politicians decide to create a school made to conquer that dilemma: Cecil High, the National Free Economic High School. Students are given 10,000,000원 admission money from the school to live off of, but there is a big catch! If a student runs out of money, he/she will be kicked off campus. At first glance, it seems like an exceptional deal, however, the balance is not as one would expect and many students quickly struggle to keep their education and avoid expulsion! (Source: Naver)
