Being one of my favorite classic writter, Kafka is also well know in the world for his enormous impact on the culture (not only in the litterature tho)
As said in the quote, Kafka thought that we need books that ''affect us like a disaster". Here is my list of manga that effected me a lot. Short list for now but I'm constantly trying to read this kind of stories so there will be updates.
Of course, big Trigger Warning, most of the folliwing stories aren't very pleasant to read, you may have trouble while reading them, depend on your sensibility and your traumas.

In this story, the main character face a bad event and react in a violet (and stupid way). Years after that, he's facing his sins, fight for forgiveness and simply want to be a kinder personn.
My favorite manga since I've start reading it, Vinland Saga made me think a lot about what I've done in the past, all the pain I've give to other, such as foreigner or even to my own family.

When like me you had grow up with abusive parents, it may be hard to read this because of all the painfull memories of those times that will come up.
However, this story is a good depiction of brain damage of a child, caused by his '' mentally sick '' mother.

Probably the best depiction of LGBTQ+ community I've ever read.
The main character is being mocked for being _probably gay_ (well he's gay but didn't want people to know). He's attempting to commit a suicide then a found a friendly and "family like" community of LGBTQ+ and try to accept this part of him and simply being happy and proud of who he is.

I've litteraly fainted while reading this manga once.
This story is about an excutor during the French revolution and we littreraly see panels of people getting torture (childs sometimes too), beheaded or even dismembered. Those drawing are stuck in my head, absolutely horrifying.

As a huge fan of Lupin III's saga, I've recently been starting the manga version of this saga. Holly crap, in the anime adaptation, Lupin is a Don Juan, funny and stylish. In the manga, Lupin is a sexual criminal who rape a girl in almost every chapter and kill those who try to stop him. Wow the contrast is harsh.

To be honest, I didn't read this manga (yet) because I didn't find any translation, neither raw scan. However, the anime adaption slap me in the face like only few anime barely managed to.
Except all the death, the story ask us few question about the "morality" of commiting a suicide and the "morality" of people who help other to commit one. Very deep sometimes but interesting asfck.
