I think there's a lot about Roselia itself that was cut off because of constraints that a movie had. In fact, I feel like there's a lot more that was cut out than let in. The longer of a Roselia story we get (long movie, full series, 2-cour, multiple seasons, e.g.), the closer it would get to the ideal of being able to tell everything, including the bits and pieces of nuances from event stories, of Roselia. But that's the cost of a really large series: You really can't just boil everything down to a simple movie, especially when dealing with intricacies. I think at best, if the movie was 2 hours (which is already longer than most movies), we'd be able to get the core elements of most of the characters down. But as I mentioned before, we still won't be able to do anything about it feeling 'rushed'...

As am I. I've been wondering what the Popipa movies was going to be about ever since they announced it, and it seems they'll be tackling new ground here. I'm actually still an avid game player, myself, hahaha.

You hit the mark on what the Roselia movie truly is. It's a great recap or even a love letter to see the wonderful characters of Bandori on the really big screen, fully animated, which can strike a different feeling from the game's usage of Live 2D (not that the Live 2D is bad, mind you.)

But from a storytelling perspective, it falls short. The movie's ambitions are simply too grand for what it can realistically achieve for an hour when Season 1 takes around 25 chapters of story in-game to catch up to, while Season 3 takes up two event stories to tell the story of RAS. Developing one or two characterd in such a short amount of time is difficult enough, but Roselia is a band of five, each with their own struggles and growth portrayed in-game that honestly cannot simply be put in a single movie.

My honest thoughts speaking, the characters of Roselia are very interwoven with the cast of the other band members in terms of growth, so it is actually very much impossible to put every single part of every event story or event card story in-game into the movie, with how much content is already shoved in. Even a full season or 2 won't be able to showcase the entirety of Roselia's growth, because of how much there is over time, much less a movie.

With all that said, I think the best way to enjoy the movie is to read the in-game stories first, then come into the movie with the mindset of it being made for the fans (because it is) to see Roselia's stories animated, but acknowledging that the final product is what it is in comparison.

The Popipa movie, on the other hand, won't be going through the entire Roselia story, instead picking up after Season 3. As a result, I wouldn't be surprised if that one is better paced than Roselia's movie is.
