As am I. I've been wondering what the Popipa movies was going to be about ever since they announced it, and it seems they'll be tackling new ground here. I'm actually still an avid game player, myself, hahaha.
But from a storytelling perspective, it falls short. The movie's ambitions are simply too grand for what it can realistically achieve for an hour when Season 1 takes around 25 chapters of story in-game to catch up to, while Season 3 takes up two event stories to tell the story of RAS. Developing one or two characterd in such a short amount of time is difficult enough, but Roselia is a band of five, each with their own struggles and growth portrayed in-game that honestly cannot simply be put in a single movie.
My honest thoughts speaking, the characters of Roselia are very interwoven with the cast of the other band members in terms of growth, so it is actually very much impossible to put every single part of every event story or event card story in-game into the movie, with how much content is already shoved in. Even a full season or 2 won't be able to showcase the entirety of Roselia's growth, because of how much there is over time, much less a movie.
With all that said, I think the best way to enjoy the movie is to read the in-game stories first, then come into the movie with the mindset of it being made for the fans (because it is) to see Roselia's stories animated, but acknowledging that the final product is what it is in comparison.
The Popipa movie, on the other hand, won't be going through the entire Roselia story, instead picking up after Season 3. As a result, I wouldn't be surprised if that one is better paced than Roselia's movie is.
Must watch for you. :)
