We hope to hear the wackiest and craziest captions/titles from you all ^♥^... keep the creative juices coming!!! P.S. – Do not forget to request your Miyano Mamoru SOM cards & claim the new Member Badges.
No need to apologize, I'm not exactly timely with my responses either :p.
I personally enjoy series that really seem to rack your brain, so long as there is something you can put together to understand it in the end otherwise it's just failure. At the same time I realize people don't want to be straining to understand certain works of art, it is something we do for our entertainment and we do it sometimes to chill out, not exert ourselves after all.
Bake is a series that's definitely not something you appreciate 100% unless you speak Japanese because the word play is not something English speakers will catch onto. We still can enjoy a good amount of the dialogue nonetheless, but there is definitely something lost in translation regardless.
You also have to keep in mind that sometimes there really is nothing to get. For example Bake likes to throw tons at typography at your screen, but this is a fairly pointless aspect of it since there's no way to catch what's really going on at all.
In any case its sequel airing right Nisemonogatari just does not seem to match up to Bake in any way, it's become obsessed with fanservice and lacks the succinctness and punch of Bake. It's not bad, just not as good.
Takoyaki is my favorite Japanese street food! And okonomiyaki are great, too. Now I'm really hungry, lol.
I really recommend Madoka Magica. It's only thirteen episodes, is fast-paced and very visually stunning. Fruits Basket is also great -- I remember sobbing like a baby towards the end. The story is incomplete, though. You'd have to read the manga for the rest and the mood in the manga is a bit darker than the anime. My favourite Ghibli movies are Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neighbour Totoro. Grave of the Fireflies also counts as a favourite, but it's really one of those things you have to be emotionally prepared to watch. I suggest you start with Kiki, if you haven't seen it yet. It's light and fun.
Hello! No worries, I'm not around much myself. Life gets in the way, LOL. But I travel often because my work sends me off in random places for a variety of reasons. It sounds like your cousins are freelance? Or consulting? It's probably pretty different from mine (I work for the government).
I'm afraid that if I were to go to Japan, I'd spend all my money on the first day, and I'll end up stalking idols in Tokyo or something (kidding). I'll probably just eat everything in sight. I love Japanese food.
I wouldn't worry about ratings too much, everyone has their own scale and metric for series. I'm often criticized for having a metric that's skewed too high (I grade things like tests pretty much, though I have to use a different scale for the Nihon Review). So when people see a 7 on my list they must think I really like it or something, but really, that's like if I gave a C to someone on a test and I don't think they'd be happy with that haha.
I'm not the biggest katy perry fan but it was a nice AMV nonethless :p. It's strange to hear about somebody on the fence of bake, from my experience it seems like a love or hate show for most people.
I'm definitely hoping Yoko Kanno busts out another masterful OST to show why she's the best in the anime industry right now. Watanabe is a perfect combination for her.
Sorry for the late reply I just been ultra busy and haven't been able to check in much. I'm actually done posting random MAL reviews as I just became a staff member of the Nihon Review, www.nihonreview.com if you care to ever check it out :).
But hey, I'm down to ever talk if you want to share any opinions on anime. I see that you tend to rate things more critically than most. A big Watanabe fan eh? Excited for his return to directing this spring with Apollon? I know I am ^^.
Anyways, thanks for the comments, and I added you too.

I watched it on a whim when it was 13 episodes in.
I flew threw those episodes in 1 day, and it was awesome.
Love the setting.

Which anime are you planning on checking out?
