Hello out there! Nice of you to drop by my little slice of the internet. I guess you all want some info, huh? Well no problem, I'm happy to indulge (a little, at least).
I've been watching anime consistently since around 2000 (4th grade. Geez, I feel old), though I believe that my first two anime were Pokemon and Sailor Moon back in 1998. I tend to like the majority of genres in anime, though I think my favorite is a tie between Magical Girl, Sci-Fi, and Shonen, with my least favorites being Historical (Japanese historical, at least) and Sports.
I try to keep up with the anime seasons as best as I can, though more than likely I'll be 2+ seasons behind. Which season I'm on is usually obvious, since I have all the shows from that season on my Watching list.
(I'd also like to note that I don't accept random friend requests. I like getting to know people first, so that's that. ;D )
This is actually my first time writing reviews for...anything really. I have recently leaned towards elaborating on the Story/Sound/Art/Characters/Enjoyment sections, since I like lists and I have no excuse for that other than that I like lists. (Damn college OCD.) I know that I'm not the greatest writer in the world (believe me, I know), but I'll try my best and be clear with what I liked/disliked/sorta-liked/etc as honestly as possible.
I will also only write reviews of shows that I dropped if I honestly think that they need talking about, but it'll rarely happen. And if it does, it only warrants a review if I watched at least half of the show so as not to impair judgement.
EDIT: Due to workload at school and life and such, I've changed how I'm doing my reviews. (Meh, they're more for me anyways. XD) I'm only going to do a review for a show that is exceptional/rates an 8+ or really sucks/rates a 3-. Mostly because I've found that if a show was average, it's just hard to talk about, since all my points boil down to 'meh, it was pretty good'. I will write a review for any sequel shows or other franchise shows that I've already started. EDIT NEW: I deleted my 'review' (aka I just had a bitchy moment and shared it with MAL) of Under the Innocent Sky, mostly because I realized that I was slightly unfair in writing it. I took it down mostly because I feel like I was unfair to judge it based on the first episode and dropping it right after. (I will, though, still stand by that it is, by far, the worst first episode for an anime EVER, so don't think it was because of that.) (I actually did it mostly cause of two members leaving me nice comments, and no, I will never delete an actual review, I promise.)
I'll be the first to admit that I tend to score fairly high, but I'd like to think that it's my inner optimist trying to find a silver lining in most things. Below is how I tend to do my scoring.
As you can probably imagine, 1-4 are god awful shows that you shouldn't watch, with 1 being the worst of the worst through 4 being just below average. Generally these are shows that I dropped or that I just couldn't get through, or just made me so annoyed/mad that following it made me resent anime.
A 5 is a fairly weak, yet average show (I wasn't totally interested, it had it's ups and downs too often, a character made me almost punch my monitor, and many more reasons). (aka this is where I set the standard of watchable. It has some kind of redeemable quality to it, but it's still pretty fucking meh in the end.)
A 6 is an average show that I can comfortably give a recommendation to (I thought that it was OK, I wasn't bored, wanted to see the next episode).
7 will tend to be better than average (I had fun with it, it looked good, I was into the plot, etc. more good things etc. ).
Finally, 8-10 are very good to amazing shows that you should watch at any chance that you can get.
What this all means is that anything that rates a 7+ is usually an automatic recommendation from me, since it was something that I generally liked. 6 is difficult to say: it's a good enough show to get a recommendation, but it's only just above a 5 for a reason. Average shows (aka 5) are very shaky recommendations, due to being the break off point.
(I'd like to note that some dropped shows that appear on my list are shows that I watch with an anime club, so if it has a tag next to it indicating 'anime club' in some kind of context, it's just a show that we watched that week and has no bearing on how god/bad the show itself is.)
