im waiting for lambda to show up tho
laughable visual direction for the horror elements too, only worth watching for the comedy scenes and the OST
I also gravitate towards 90's and 2000's anime more than anything. I try to watch everything from every decade. Including some 60's anime. I'm also very passionate about anime as a whole, and I deeply care for it. You're absolutely right. It's a pleasant thought knowing that a new and fresh anime could be a part of history one day. That's why I do occasionally peek my head in when it comes to new stuff. I don't do it often, but I'm trying. It's just that the craftsmanship of anime has noticeably declined, and it's hard for new anime to leave a strong impression on me.
Himiko is a pretty normal answer, yes XD.
Of course! You can ask me anything you want at anytime! I'm an open book. I'll try to think of some questions for you, as well. There's two answers to that question. I started watching anime in 2006 but I didn't become a real, devoted fan until about 2012.
Didn't take it all that seriously in the beginning, but over time I was learning. I was learning where anime originally came from and hearing other people talk about it in my social circles. My very first anime was Zatchbell. Around 2012, I watched Akira for the very first time and that's when I acknowledged myself as an anime fan. I would later consume series like Genshiken and Otaku no Video, and they would push me even further into anime and otaku culture.
And when it comes to discovering new anime that draw me in...honestly...it's the character designs. I can love an anime for many different reasons and for specific aspects of that anime. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei feels like my own personally made anime because I love every aspect of it. However, if you have visually appealing artstyle, regardless of the quality of your show, I will watch it. The perfect example of this is Nyan Koi. It's not a very good anime but the character designs carried me the entire way through. Crazy I know. I like attractive character designs. :^3
What about you? When and how did you get into anime? And what draws you into a series?
Mahoro is absolutely adorable and definitely my number 2 waifu from that anime. She's a sweetheart and I love her. <3
I don't actually care too much about seasonal anime and I try to give more love and attention to older and obscure shows that more people need to watch. The seasonals will always get attention regardless of quality. I try to give a few of them a chance, but I really don't care too much about the vast majority of new shows being made. I feel that the standard quality of modern anime has gone down quite a bit over the past decade. I might be in the minority when saying that. That's just me anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
How do you feel aboiut that?
For my favorite MHA characters. They're all girls XD
• Jiro (I'm a huge rock nerd just like her and I think she's cute.)
• Midnight (Very cute and like her for other personal reasons. :^3)
• Ryukyu (Also very cute. Soft spot for sharp teeth.)
• Tatami Nakagame (Another cutie with sharp teeth.)
There's more but I can't think of them at the moment!
Sailor Moon, I seeeeeeee. I didn't really grow up with it like most people did. I watched it years ago after highschool and I can definitely see why kids would like it. I prefer Cardcaptor Sakura anyway :^3
Yu yu Hakusho is pretty neat and you don't hear too many people talk about Mahoromatic. Very underrated and underappreciated Gainax/Shaft show. I forgot her name, but the teacher was my favorite lol.
The only seasonal I'm keeping up with is Iruma and that's it. I really needed something like MHA in my life. Something simple and fun to keep my spirits up. I am feeling a lot better and I'm now onto S4. It's been a while since I marathoned a series like this. I started last week. Hahaha.
That's good to hear that you're enjoying SZS. I would recommend that once you watch the entire anime, read the final volume of the manga because the anime has no ending. Just wanted to tell you that before you got too far. Chiri was always my favorite, but I'm slowly leaning towards Matoi as time goes on. Yes! Kogarashi Sentiment is my favorite Monogatari OP. Especially the duet version.
I hope you enjoy Zetsubou sensei. If you're a Monogatari fan, you'll definitely like it. Hitagi is best girl right next to Kaiki.
It took me a while to come up with that favorite OP's and ED's list. There are a few changes I would make but I'm too lazy to actually do it XD. I'm still cool with my rating system. Made this stuff a long time ago.
And yes, Chiri is an absolute cutie patootie :^3. Especially with that dress. I'm probably never going to change my pfp again. I've had it for about 2 years now.
You also have a neat little profile. Di Gi Charat is adorable and I have good memories watching it a few summers ago. Perfect Blue, Kaiba, and Haibane Renmei. Excellent favorites list. Voynich Hotel is also great. My memory on all of these shows are starting to get fuzzy now. I'm trying to get back into anime again. But it's hard. :(
