Hiya! My name is Randle and I have been otaku-brained since I was in early high school. I just finished a college degree in art administration, so when I am not busy being a girlboss I am consuming media that keeps my attention. Besides animanga, I am a huge film buff, music lover, avid reader, and recently have been getting more into Western television I missed out on for a bulk of my teen years. I am willing to check out anything that catches my eye, but am most drawn to coming of age stories, casts of lovable characters with good chemistry, meta comedies, and general experimentation.
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya has been my favorite piece of media for about six years now after revisiting the series and reading the novels over the quarantine. I am always eager to talk about Haruhism, its 2000s culture that I was not apart of but still try to uphold today, or really anything else. I still get a lot of comments from my Manabi Straight review!
My ratings work like- Anything rated an 8-10 is a favorite, if it is above a 6 I would recommend it (5s are often mixed feelings/sometimes even recommendable too). I tend to be pretty laid back with my scoring, ie- if I enjoyed watching it, it will rank highly. Obviously, there is a level of technical mastery to anime that I can appreciate, but I really see no point to scoring any media on a metric of "objectivity" or using external criteria to enhance a score (ie, "I liked this story more but that one was better written objectively" or some dumb shit). I can only consume a piece of art through my own eyes, so why would I use anything besides my own emotional reactions and connections to rank my experience?

Shuu and Hagu would never happen. Impossible. Although his confession didn't feel completely out of nowhere to me. He was always so overprotective of Hagu that it didn't seem so farfetched. Especially if she was getting close to a guy :O. However, they're family. I cannot see the two in that kind of romantic light. Morita and Hagu would definitely be the ideal coupling.
I remember Hagu's injury with the glass, but the details immediately after are fuzzy for me. I do remember the train scene with Takemoto eating the sandwich. He really loved her, but it was probably never meant to be. A reread is most certainly overdue for me. For context, I haven't done a full reading of the manga since 2018. I occasionally read the first volume every now and again. I also love the kissing scene between Hagu and Morita. He immediately freaks out and moves out of the country. Definitely in my top 3 favorite moments of the manga haha. But I need to do a thorough reread of Honey and Clover.
Glad you're also enjoying the OVA. Zan Bangaichi, I feel, is the very best the anime had to offer. The full four minute OP is one of my favorite OP's of all time. Which is funny because all of the OP's are excellent, just more competition. I want to write more about Zetsubou sensei, I just don't the time anymore. I'll also have to reread that manga, as well.
And sorry for the delayed response. I've been extremely busy these past few weeks.
Dokkan is by far the best season of Doremi imo. Not only is the overall quality of each episode higher than every other season but its peaks are as well. It genuinely feels like for every one amazing episode in other seasons there’s like three in Dokkan. Also there’s a couple episodes, particularly near the end, where it almost becomes an entirely different show because of how incredible the visual storytelling becomes and where it feels every frame was meticulously thought in order to express the absolute most from each scene. Also also there’s an extremely good episode involving both Yada-kun and Shiori (the two from the mothers day episode) and their relationship pretty early on into Dokkan so look forward to that. I look forward to hearing what you think about it!
Anyways, enough of me rambling. How do you like Doremi so far?
