Ничего, просто поинтересовался. В своё время я тоже смотрел этот канал.

Привет, вы с Украины? Я заметил, что вы создавали тег по КуйТВ.

I think the best you can do is go to your anime list and where it says add notes, you write something there. You can write about each individually if you want. I think it will only appear in friends updates if you add a new completed episode though. Or when you first add it to PTW or something.
Gsarthotegga Feb 7, 2023 2:31 PM
Oh, hmm... on the MAL front page, it only shows 2 updates from friends by default. You can click on it to see a history. By clicking on settings, you have a few options. It just shows anime and manga updates and comments (list comments for manga and anime entries) from each friend. I think a lot of people probably expect it to be a little more in-depth than that. It would make sense if it showed reviews and blogs, for example, but it doesn't.

Like I just checked friend updates, and you're on there. It registered High Card with 1/12 episodes completed. That's pretty much all it does. It also shows ratings.

Look up Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Cradle Planet. It's a special.

There's also a thread on it.

It's pretty much a slideshow with narration, though. If you read that story, I doubt there's much extra to take from this, other than seeing what they choose to exclude.

I fished through it a bit, but the primary one seemed the most interesting. I'm always amused by these kind of psychological mechanisms employed in fiction. You'll probably write an analysis before S2? btw, the story you linked me, it looks like it was adapted as a special, but you probably already know that.

So that twitter side by side is from ep 11 and ep 12, respectively? Yeah, it seems with the whole of ep 11 she's actually just normal (I saw the effect on ep 12, but on ep 11 it's just eye closeups), then the rewrite happens with Lady Prospera in ep 12. There are probably some other subtle hints in other LP scenes. Honestly, I wouldn't have noticed this at all if you didn't bring it to my attention, and even the use of music kind of blunts the implications of the scene, while seemingly having symbolic meaning. Seems they're trying to be discreet while keeping it in plain sight, and then they'll have a big reveal in S2. It's a pretty interesting aspect of the series.

Yeah, I've seen CG. He can only use it once per person (at least to begin with), and he has to look them in the eye directly, and they are very explicitly under his control—it works on pretty much everyone. Suletta's case is a more subtle example of it. It's more psychological, and there was a root early in Suletta's life.

It's much different, but since he was a writer along with Goro Taniguchi for the manga... it was probably an influence or that concept has become an interest for him as a writer.

It was the "swirly" eye effect, right? I think I watched the Suletta/Miorine scene and didn't see it when she said "gain one, gain two". I'll try watching the whole scene later today.

I just watched the mom-Suletta scene in ep 12 again. Funny enough, I've seen effects that look similar to that for emotional moments in numerous series. But it's different here, and I honestly think you're onto something with the programming. The thing is, Suletta has her normative reaction to the soldiers being killed, and she's never seen anyone die before, nor is she a hardened soldier. I don't think a pep talk or inspirational quote on its own is going to lead to the large transition we see in the final scene of the season. The effect is weird and seems to be indicative of a "rewrite" of sorts. The "uplifting music" during the scene with Lady Prospera in ep 12 was an instrumental version of the OP, I believe, so it seems to have a special purpose. If you saw the same effect in both eps, then it has to be that. Where does it happen in ep 11? Is it when Miorine corners Suletta or during a call with her mom?

Right, so there are "programming phrases", or you could kind of say these are Pavlovian trigger words/phrases that result in a corresponding response that has been pre-determined. So there comes a point with Suletta/Miorine—to the extent that it is whatever it is—is programmed? Is that why you were waffling a bit on yuri or not yuri in your past edits? There definitely are a few points that probably warrant a rewatch, given the writer's in-between novel. There's no way LP could have predicted Suletta getting involved with Miorine (...right...?), but she was there at the dinner and could have worked some subtle manipulation. Maybe at other points as well, like in the numerous phone calls.

Yeah, with the killing of that man, I reckon she did what she had to do, but her actual response to it was almost as if it hadn't happened at all. Given her nature, I doubt she'd behave that way outside of some external manipulation.

Oh... I won't be surprised if that's the case. 1) this has precedents like Evangelion and others. 2) Elan and his clones are on display. 3) ideas of sentience plus this focus on human and technological integration. 4) the goofy idea of treating a mech as family becomes far less goofy if a relative/same genes in the case of a clone is part of the mech. 5) differences with Suletta compared to Elan and the Earth Witch (though I'm not sure how much of that is because of Suletta, Aerial, or a combination of the two). 6) there's an obvious practical reason for a different name for Suletta, but it could go deeper than that, and there's no real sense of her being "Eri". 7) references to Shakespeare and the darker turn of the last episode and elements of tragedy such as with the Jeturks and even Miorine's reaction kind of reminding me of another Shakespeare play—and I think Eri being used like that makes sense in this context. 8) two characters treating Aerial similarly rules out a silly character trait (like the way the female lead in Patlabor treats the mech and personifies it).

Frankly, while it's theoretical at the moment because the series isn't over, I think it's probably more than theory. :\
Gsarthotegga Jan 8, 2023 12:18 PM
Yeah, that's interesting. I wonder if the staff are viewing it as canon in connection to the anime, though. I guess maybe so based on what you said about the OP, or at least in spirit? Since Aerial does seem to have a kind of mystique that I wouldn't really associate with past Gundam (though I haven't seen a few notable entries), partly from the ban, but there's a bit more than that. Sort of surprised they'd be mixing sentience into this. Though it's in the spirit of the times.
Gsarthotegga Jan 8, 2023 11:24 AM
Oh, yeah, The Tempest references foreshadow a decent amount of the plot here and probably a fair bit of what is to come, especially seeing as Lady Prospera (I kind of prefer the Ariel/Aerial reference) is a Char clone, as quite a few Gundam series without Char have had.

I didn't know that about the OP. It's pretty common for them to reveal or foreshadow a lot of plot points and scenes in the OP, but I have to admit that I almost never read the lyrics... I'll have to pull up the translation later.

I don't remember other Gundam leading into what could be a huge transition like this. Though I haven't seen or know anything about IBO, so maybe that does as well.
Gsarthotegga Jan 8, 2023 8:35 AM
Were those various edits written during the episode or after it? kind of forgot this was airing today. Didn't expect the ending with its combination of gore and klutziness. XD

It's very funny because I don't think Suletta likely had a choice, but they tap into this kind of "psychopathic aura" they sometimes do in other series, partly by making the outcome look so extreme.

I guess they'll have them on separate sides after all? :\

They usually have them on separate sides in the first place when it comes to these kind of situations

DIY is 100% not yuri as a series and has 0 romance, but there are people saying Pudding has romantic feelings for Serufu (starting when, I don't know). Well, it's not my claim. I just noticed several discussions like that.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
