Glad you liked it! I too hate female characters, since usually they are so poorly written, only work as love interests in the story, behave cliché-y and have no character development or whatsover... I've been looking for animes similar to AnY so thanks for your recommendations!
I know right, he was the greatest, it's a shame it ended the way it did for him ;_;. Even Gil despite his faggotry ended up yielding and admitting Rider was a cool guy.
I think it was the first 3 episodes, I stopped after the first one but they have uncensored versions out now so I started up again, im just behind on the most recent one, but yeah im loving the action so far... the show makes me have an unrational urge to kill a cockroach though lol
I have kingdom in my PTW list maybe I need to try it out already lol
I honestly prefer perversion for the sake of lust, and people just being absolute creeps, probably because I like edgy and darker things in general. (And honestly I've met some people in life whose fetishes were so weird and extreme it puts most hentai and porn to shame.)
I find most humor in anime to be way too lighthearted and usually filled with too many visual gags. I grew up loving witticisms for the most part, and that just doesn't happen in anime; not sure if it's just the translations, or what, but I've never seen really good observational humor done by Japs.
Hmm, okay, I guess I'll watch some Gintama after I finish Kuroko no Basket, since I like having a daily show. Initially I planned on watching one episode of Gintama a day, but I'm horrible and rebel against my own ideas, so that never happened. I guess if I liked the start I'm sure to like it later on.
Also I don't know if you noticed, but I dropped Monster at some point due to real life problems and ever since then I haven't gone back. And it's this weird situation where, on one hand I remember too much to rewatch it, but too little to just pick up from where I think I left off. I hope to forget it all someday...
Do you have any thoughts on Legend of the Galactic Heroes? I found it really overrated. Not bad by any means, but not the masterpiece I was expecting.
I love ecchi too, but I wish they'd diversify it a bit, maybe spice up the protagonists with some really unlikable pervs or total psychos. I find it way more enjoyable when the characters are cool and when there's an actual story. I think the hottest thing I've seen so far has been Gatari, not because there's a ton of ecchi, but because the characters seem so real which makes the perverse moments that much better.
And really, you liked Samurai Champloo that much? I guess I'll try to go back to it. The reason I stopped was because it was episodic, and because people said Bebop is better so I just thought "fuck it, might as well watch CB then." I enjoyed Bebop but not nearly as much as others led me to believe I would. Never got attached to any of the characters; no feels, no tears.
I actually tried Trigun a while ago and thought it was silly but if it gets serious I'm willing to reconsider it. I mean, the first episodes of HxH are godawful. I never would've imagined something so terrible as that boatride could evolve into the glorious Yorknew and Chimera arcs. If not for Hisoka appearing I would've stopped, but all I could think was "Damn, you're cool, I need you in my life."
And bro, my reviews all get downvoted too. This website is useful, but it's filled with fucking retards, honestly. I mean even the recommendations I see sometimes just blow my mind. Instead of recommending something that's similar in terms of themes or atmosphere, they're just like "THIS ALSO HAS A MAIN CHARACTER WITH RED HAIR AND A SWORD."
How do you feel about Gintama? Obviously it's in your favorites so you must love it, but would you recommend it to me? I've been watching some of it, I think 4-5 eps so far, and rather enjoyed it, though I didn't get too attached. I heard it gets much better later, but I'm not sure what people mean by that. Does it ever get more serious?
Yeah man, me too. I mean it's fine if a romance develops eventually, like after 50-100 eps of growing to like the characters (and only if it's a subplot that drives the main story forward and makes it deper), but when they try to shove it down your throat it's painfully bad.
That's why I really don't like romance as a genre. I'd have to like the characters to begin with, which is pretty fucking hard considering most romances have cookie-cutter cardboard cutouts, and then it'd have to be a good story in and of itself, which again is really unlikely.
Also, nice avatar. That screencap is from the exact scene during which I realized I'd love Hunter from that point onward.

Are you being sarcastic?, Because the dark continent arc has an incredible start, and the drawing is excellent
Good, I'm glad you enjoyed it. How did you feel about Sheele's death? There were some people that didn't like that she didn't didn't kill Seryu straight up, but I personally believe that a lot of it had to do with:
1) 50 seconds in the in our time isn't necessarily 50 seconds in the anime, everything was moving pretty fast so she had to make a quick decision and saving her friend was the top priority
2) Humans make a lot of mistakes. Ya, she's professional killer, but when emotions get in the way of logic bad things can happen. And I think that's happened with Sheele. She didn't think about killing Seryu right way because saving her friend was the bigger problem. If she didn't go save Mine, Mine would have died. Though in the manga, they were battling side by side and made more sense why Sheele saved Mine because she was right there and then Seryu shot her when she wasn't paying attention. I don't know why they had them go fight in the woods because I think everything would have been cleared up if they kept them fighting right next to each like in the manga. But oh well.
I'm just trying to be honest with people that are expecting something else from this anime. I personally enjoyed the manga, and I think the anime is pretty good when it comes to adaptations. That said I'm not going to pretend like it's some existential piece of work, like a lot of the fans of this manga are acting.
I'm glad I was able to help clear that up for some people, though I'll be ducking for cover from the pissed off fans for a while for saying the truth haha.
Just came to say sorry if I sounded rude or something. I know I can sound like an arrogant and judgmental person sometimes, but I don't really mean it.
"Sure some would still not have a problem if it became romance as time went on. But some would and that does not necessarily make them a homophobe."
-That was a bit confusing, though. Glad you clarified what it meant! : P
Anyway, I'm really sorry if I offended you or anything.
I am gonna copy paste my old comment, sorry but kinda tired of writing all over again :P
Ok I'll be honest. I cried and it is the 4th time I ever cry in an anime, certainly didn't expect it to happen in a shounen. That was one of the best depiction of pure love I've seen and it was a love not (only) a man has for a woman but a human has for life.
The dialogues were superb, the themes and symbolism were amazing and everything tied well together at the end. Dat character Meruem!!! OMG.
First I'll mention that Meruem finally understood what really matters and what brings happiness. He was willing to bow (O.O) before Palm just to see Komugi, there you have the most powerful being and he cares nothing about his pride, power, money, world domination or evolution of his species he cares only about playing Gungi with Komugi ...the simple things in life. When he was playing the game someone mentioned about this in the forums how at episode 104 the move kokoriko (or sth) meant King and how the next move is called Shiro(road to death). This is amazing because here we have Komugi finding a way of no way and "saving" the King (telling he doesn't need to die) but Meruem then plays a move a reversal basically saying that he will need to die (by poison) and then Komugi does a reversal of reversal saying that it doesn't have to be the case and she will go with him.... O.O Here we actually have a spiritual message that might mean that death is not the end and that true death is being alone, Komugi at the end follows the King and she actually asked him "I may not be worthy but will you please take me with you" something like that. I think around here tears started falling.... And the final sequence just made it even worse. Where Meruem had lost almost all his senses, at least the sense of sight for sure. To think that he was the light (brought happiness) to Komugi, what his name actually means what his mother actually named him and that's what he was born for, for that one moment O.O. I am speechless by the level of the writing and the complexity of the characters and the story.... So I continued crying.
But another amazing thing that actually ties incredibly well with the themes of this arc and specifically with Meruem's development was that Real Diego (which at the beginning I didn't get at all). His monologue (this poem) shows us exactly where Meruem transcended. Real Diego too having probably understood what really matters in life just resigned 30 years ago and let others rule the country. He talks about our desires and that humans are here for a limited time and life goes by quickly and we don't understand the meaning of life and waht truly matters, cause if we did we wouldn't have wars, what truly matters the poem says "...life is complete with the sun, the land and....". Did I say how great the writing is???
Except for that we had an amazing scene with Palm and Meruem too. Her internal conflict was so great to witness and her tears was really sad to witness. Pouf lied there dead. Alone. Surprisingly that was sad to watch. The depth of Meruem char and his enlightenment made him realize how loyal RG were "I am not worthy of such loyal guards...." HOLY.... Overall this episode and this whole arc is probably one of the best shit I have watched in anime ad not only in this media.
Sorry mate but I deleted your post cause there were so many spoilers :(.... Just put a spoiler box next time..
Yea I actually am somehow ok with Togashi taking long breaks.... cause he has time to think things over in details and come back with a masterpiece level content!!!
Did you watch ep126???? OH MY GOD!!! I AM SPEECHLESS STILL....
Everythig was beautiful but the most awesome part was the inner thoughts of Netero and Meruem and lots of metaphors and parallelisms!!! I have to rewatch it to catch everything that happened in depth...
Also if I take only 1 episode like 116... It provided with such an intense emotion of shock and awe that I rewatched it like 10 times and still can feel the same feeling.... Oly this episode alone is soooo much better than the hundreds of stupid anime out there...
HxH BACK IN JUNE!!!! DID YOU HEAR THE NEWS????? HOLYYYYYYYYYYY SHIIIIEEEEEEET!!!!
Chimera Ants is officially my favorite arc!!! So much thought was put into it..... I love the motifs(human identity...pscyhological and ethical development.... and the character developments and the overall theme... I like the parts with the psychological mind games more than the actual fights :P LOL
I like the details and parallelisms Togashi draws.... I love everything about it except for episodes 113,115,99 which ruined somehow the pace and momentum of the series but overall it's my favorite...
