I LOVE anime that gradually develop their setting. Made in Abyss and Land of the Lustrous are my favorites, they both have mysterious worlds. The reason why they work is that they're character-focused, their premises don't rely on the setting. ToG is all exposition. It references the bigger fantasy setting without giving us the context. There are plenty of stories with similar problems as ToG.
Yep that might be dangerous, it's better not to try this xD I'm not a driver myself but when I travel by car with others I love listening to those songs, haha. Some songs even have versions sung by seiyuus from the show and it's hilarious. Like the opening by Takumi and Mogi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrrO7FQtDgM or the ending by Takahashi brothers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAjf0Gb6vDE lmao
I meant anime watching challenge, the yearly one. Yeah I wish I had more free time to be able to finish Initial D faster too, but the 4th season will have to wait. But I listen to the music from the series all the time, it's really addictive.
Yeah, Initial D is super fun, I also watched it this year (3 seasons so far) but it was after I completed the awc. The 1st season instantly made it into my favs.
Out of the ones I watched this year? There was Jin-Rou, Macross Plus, Macross: DYRL, Akage no Anne, all these are my favs now. This year I watched 70s anime for the first time and got more into 80s anime (before this year I only saw one 80s show). Thanks to the fact I watched and liked 70s Akage no Anne I also watched Ashita no Joe this year. This is why I like those MAL challenges, I end up watching a bunch of stuff I might have skipped otherwise, and while some are bad there's also lots of good ones. It's the 3rd time I participated. Good luck with your challenge, I hope you were also able to find some new favs thanks to it!
PS Sorry for slow answers like this, for the last few days I've been mostly hanging out on AniList and only came here to update the list.
Most of them were good or at least entertaining, I remember giving very few scores below 5 and I also discovered some of my current favs. So yeah I'm pretty satisfied.
