They aren't exactly familiar with eachother, they both have different distinct atmospheres but they do share similarities in that we have two contrasting male protagonists who travel together because of a heroine. One thing is for sure though, both of these shows have some of the best art/animation I've ever seen, seriously. Quality stuff here, at least in terms of art & animation.

Both have that 90s atmosphere of anime, and both deal with a group traveling space doing various tasks. It's like a weird but quirky fantasy/space slice of life kind of? Both deal with group of characters/friends traveling space doing spontaneous but adventurous things.

Both deal with mecha and have huge world scale of impact throughout the show. Rahxephon came out after Evangelion but the two are similar.

-Similar themes aka group of teens in special school/society fighting various evil entities (spirits, demons, humans, etc.) all with special powers. -Both typical shounen but both are a little bit more mature than expected tropes, can be considered borderline seinen IMO which is nice. -Special protagonist, really good equal character development, different but distinct character models. -Mainly focused on story telling elements. -Very little cheap fan service gimmicks, Exorcist has some mild nudity but not really perverted, especially in comparison with several other manga abundance within the genre.. -Verbose with lore and story progression can be a little slow.

Magi: The Kingdom of Magic

The correlation between these two shows is that there are different nations trying to prosper within both shows. This is done with the help of individuals who have supernatural capabilities. Think magi, without the comedy & light-heartedness. It's just as complex if not more so.
