I have extremely sparse free time these days and have actually am forcing myself to take a step back for the holidays soon, so just to be completely honest I don't think it's likely that I'll have the time. I could've just remembered this wrong, but both main characters had the same love interest and were caught up on opposing fronts from the conflict caused by the incoming changes. The samurai character was having the more interesting development imho, due to how defending his friend and love interest was akin to testing his conviction as to whether or not to stick to the old ways. The carefree doctor guy was under pressure a lot due to western medicine being frowned upon a lot by many of those not willing to give up the old ways, either.

I completely agree with the points you are making with Rebelpanda mate but it would be better if you just gave up cause he has no intention of trying to understand since his hate for Rudy clouds his judgement imo.

IIRC it was following two main characters with two different backgrounds and personalities, one a carefree young doctor, the other an uptight and righteous young samurai, and how they both were trying to adjust the times of change (hence coming-of-age) where Japan was going through a phase of political and social changes, from the Edo period to the Meiji period.

It was telling a lot of the historical events fairly accurately which was quite impressive on its own, and the relationship between the two main leads. I just wasn't into the aged tropes that usually accompany the typical style of Tezuka's writing, personally.

I know you really love the series and good for you that you do. I just personally didn't find the story or characters particularly interesting, though in retrospect I don't think it's that bad. Just wasn't something I found of high value on a personal level, even with the coming-of-age stories during that series' time period and the nice throwback art. I adjusted it to around 6/10 for now. I personally don't find it an objectively impeccable masterpiece, but again, good for everyone who did otherwise despite the strangely low avg rating for it.

Unfortunately I'm not Teeaboo Reacts whom I know is open to reacting to retro series, so unfortunately I cannot fulfill that request, sir. Just because I have more time doesn't mean I'm simply open to react to anything especially when I always fear for my PC hiccuping mid-recording.

I don't think you understand hyperbole. That was one disgusting interview, but a lot of it was about how he feels rather than how he believes things are. Emotional arguments mean nothing to me.

Deus ex-machinas can be used to the advantage of the story. It doesn't matter that it gets explained later. My point in the review is that the god removed the tension from the scene. I don't care what explanation he has for it.

I still don't immediately remember every single series I've watched prior to joining this site in 2016, so it can be anything at this point. There's been a bunch of times where I start watching a show only to realize and remember a couple of episodes in that I've watched before in the past.

That, sometimes using multiple devices (just 2), and sleep deprivation via the bad habit of being an anime watching addict, which I've had no success in managing.

That's the best way I can explain this, but if you're still skeptical, then I dunno what to say unless you want me to delete my entire listings which I don't remember every single entry from, anyways. 😕

Yes I read that interview in preparation for my review. I disagree with pretty much everything he said. I think he is a very disturbed individual and should not be writing, but my opinion on that doesn't really matter.

I agree the eye thing should be commended to a point. Self-awareness means nothing if it is not acted upon. He continues to benefit from the power that he gained so easily.

How is it an error? It is an unsolved mystery that the show gradually will reveal over time. That's just what it is and I think you know that.

You'd be surprised by how much time I get especially as of recently. Also, I don't remember logging 100 days within 2 months, unless it's due to odd long entries like Doraemon and Hamtaro.
