I mean its been a while since you hv written your bakuman review but i generally found most of the points you made true but the overall score was a little harsh
I wrote that when I was like 13/14 lol. I know my reviews are terrible - it's only in the past few months that it got more than like 4 helpfuls. I actually feel kinda bad that it's on the main page for Bakuman.
A big L on your Bakuman review. Should've reviewed it fairly. Just because you didn't liked the romance aspect you directly gave it a 3? What? That doesn't make any sense.
Your interpretation of reviewing is skewed. It's good that you re-evaluated your own ratings and reviews because your review of Bakuman fails to give credit where credit is due and instead degrades enjoyable aspects of the show. It's overtly critical to undermine an anime off popularity and success in it's reviews with disproportionate evidence as to why the problems are actually problems. (one example of this is "Mashiro decides his entire future based off of a promise." This comment entirely ignores Mashiro passionate past with manga, his practice and upkeep of the craft, and his biggest inspiration but also his bane- his diseased uncle. Mashiro doesn't comprehend his uncle's reason of death, but is only more motivated when he learns the truth and receives support from his family. Not only that, but as a teenager it is entirely reasonable to dream, especially when his crush agrees to marry him. To complete his reasoning, his friend is equally as passionate and convincing with his continuous attempts and appeals at becoming a manga creating team.) The characters are intentionally constructed with wrongs and rights so that they can improve and offer realistic personality traits, whether it be being smart or selfish. Romance is also implemented in a unique way that while you may not be able to relate, is a completely possible and sincere fantasy for viewers to relate to or enjoy; it is built on trust and genuine consideration and feelings for one another, admirable traits for a middle school romance. The structure to the anime is sound, the content is informative and creative, and the characters are realistic, relatable, and consistent. You neglect every upside to the show, only for the fact that these positives are bragged about, and for good reason.
If you are going to critique, then critique fairly and for the right reasons. Judging a show sorely off exaggerated, faux... ;) ...problems and its popularity is ignorant and a bad show of character. Consider these things in your future reviews so that you don't repeat mistakes and create realistic and beneficial reviews.
Same here man. I really think it should've cut out most of the romance and just focused solely on the manga writing, which is where it gets interesting. Also, Takagi is a fine character but Mashiro is so freaking bland; part of that comes from the show focusing on his boring love interest who has no personality aside from being a plot-device to spur Mashiro into action. Take her out of the story, take Takagi's girlfriend out and give us some legendary mangaka competition for a straight 25 episodes. The series could've easily been a 7+/10 if it focused on its strengths and didn't try to present a half-cooked romance that doesn't develop or have interesting characters.
I'm so surprised at the 8-10/10s being given for the show lol, I was glad to find someone who actually called out this major (and I mean MAJOR) flaw in the show.
Not sure if you're still on this site but I read your Bakuman review and agree 100%. The romance really brought down the show for me immensely. It might be the worst romance of any show I've ever seen, and that's counting Sword Art Online.

Hope that helped.
This makes much more sense.
