「ABOUT ME」
Veteran anime enthusiast fueled by junk food and retro-anime.
With an fascination for the anime industry as a whole, I'm always looking for old and new anime to watch and analyze, although I spend most of my time reading about anime rather than actually watching them.
Interests: Mecha, anime history, character design, mecha design, 80s-90s and early-2000 anime.
「ABOUT SCORES」
HOW DO I SCORE
I score anime based on its
「overall perceived quality」 and
「how much I enjoyed it」 rather than any objective standard or method.
I value enjoyment over quality, sometimes anime that are "technically superior" will have lower scores than "worse" anime, deal with it. In the end, scores are just an approximation of my tastes and are subject to change over time, don't pay too much mind to them.
- 10 (A Tier) - Anime that excels in quality and entertainment value. All time favorites and animes I won't shut up about.
- 9~8 (B Tier) - Anime that were worth the watch and I would strongly recommend.
- 7~5 (C Tier) - Anime I enjoyed watching but didn't really stood out in any particular way. Would recommend them in some occasions.
- 4~1 (E Tier) - Anime I didn't enjoy, struggles to keep me interested, lacks in quality or are a waste of time. Wouldn't recommend save for very specific reasons (e.g. "So bad it's good").
- Not Scored - Anything that scoring is either redundant (compilations, sumaries, recaps) or scoring is meaningless (too short, extra episodes, specials, music videos, ads, etc).
WHAT I JUDGE TO SCORE AN ANIME
Atmosphere: Tone and setting the mood, creating the proper atmosphere can really enhance the viewing experience
Art: Overall art quality, background art, animation, consistency, etc.
Character Design: Interesting character design, use of colors, clothes design, overall artstyle.
Direction: Pacing, direction of scenes, use of music.
Sound: Soundtrack quality and its memorability.
Story: If it's engaging and can hold my attention.
Themes: Exploration of interesting themes.
Impact: If the show can leave a lasting impression on me, making me think about it even after I watched it.
Overall Enjoyment: Personal enjoyment I got out of the watching experience.
「ABOUT ON-HOLD AND DROPPED LIST」
Anime that I, for whatever reason, stopped watching and don't have a real incentive go back watching. Basically, different kinds of limbos. Have in mind
I rather start a new anime than get back watching an show that was put on hold or dropped
- On-Hold: Have interest in watching and will pick up again, eventually.
- Dropped: Lost interest for the moment. May or may not pick up again later but chances are low.
- Dropped and Scored: Complete loss of interest. Final opinion, will not give a second chance.
