The song you're hearing is actually a bossa nova cover of a touhou track!
There are many, many, many, many covers of touhou music and there are as many circles (which means bands) that make only Touhou arrangements!
My favorites are Shinra-Banho and Akatsuki Records, but if you look for them, you'll be able to find much more!
Yeah they are really tough games, but really fun and satisfying!
For the order, almost all stories aren't connected one with the other. Of course, the newer the work, the newer are the characters you're supposed to know about!
Ibara Kasen is one of my favorite series, so I think you'll have fun with it!
Also yeah, at first glance Touhou seems like your typical cutesy series, but then you realize how weird and huge it really is hahaha!
Also after starting this series, you'll notice how much touhou content was hiding under your nose (bad apple, night of nights, Japanese goblin, fumos, that one "omaewa mou shindeiru" song, the list goes on...)
Yo!
Touhou is a great series of games and manga, but maybe starting from its written works cold be a bit weird for a newcomer, since it's more of a slice of life experience rather than fast paced battle series like the games.
If you want, Remilia and Flandre Scarlet, the two vampires of the series, are found in Touhou 6 as final bosses. But if you don't wanna game, I'll suggest you to watch this video first, so that you get an idea on the series as a whole! https://youtu.be/livReBXdiek
As a side note, Ibara Kasen doesn't focus much on them, but instead it focuses on Onis (Japanese ogres), and the one that focuses more on them, Silent Sinner in Blue, has some of the most polarizing characters on the entire franchise.
Either way, I think you could read the mangas if you want, but maybe keep the wiki of the series on another tab while reading any written works!
I hope I answered your question, and if you have any questions about the series, I'll be more than happy to help!
It's always great seeing people interested in this massive series! ^^
I came here from animixplay from episode 1 of Saiki k.'s comment section and I wanna say can I get (*silent chuckling*) all the images and gifs you got, they seems too precious for me to download it myself with lower resolution.
Well I've only really watched/read a handful of harem series after TWGOK, the 2 that stand out being Nisekoi and Rent a Girlfriend. TWGOK is definitely better than those two.
It can be funny and cartoony but also dramatic and sometimes even philosophical. The underworld/magic stuff is the story's weakest element and it's the reason why the climax at the end felt kinda meh imo. However, its ending is still something that gets brought up whenever me and my friend would talk about harem or romcom anime/manga. Granted, we don't really keep up with most of the recent stuff anymore but I think that's worth mentioning.
TL;DR: Yes, it's still 9/10. And if you've read my review, it's also a breeze to read through. Do message me again, I'd love to know what your thoughts are after reading it.
Nothing really comes to mind when it comes to survival manga, as I'm not a really a fan of the genre. "Gantz" & "Battle Royale" are just exceptions to the rules.
As for fantasy manga, I also can't think of any. I usually only read novels like "The Legend of the Sun Knight" or watch anime like "Kemono no Souja Erin". Not really manga.
