oh my god hello!!
I am incredibly sorry I just logged into this Account after I do NOT know how many months! (too many) I've been in a bit of a Anime/Manga Slump....but recently coming back from it!

So First of All thank you so so much for the birthday wishes!! (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ God I feel so old.
And my god I completely forgot I wrote such a thorough Review! Haha! but you're welcome and I am glad you started and enjoyed it so far and I COMPLETELY understand what you're doing! ( ̄▽ ̄*)ゞ I do that sooo often as well, especially with ongoing stories
(currently also doing that with Yona, because some upcoming chapters are going to hurt I think and I just want to...ah.....not go there yet, I want to binge and end with some happy times ._. But I do want to catch up with it before because spoilers tend to get EVERYWHERE and I have *the worst* luck with these kind of things!)

I think the Author said sometime last Year she's 3/4 finished with it? So who knows maybe you don't have to wait too long for it.

Anyway other than that, thank you again! And I hope you're doing well! I'm currently easing in and catching up with some seasonal anime, and you?

This was really deep. I am sorry for your loss... Saya may be nothing be more than flesh but at least she is hot flesh. That's what counts.

i seee😆😆thank you so much for your opinion
i wanted to know what the show meant for people who take things seriously. I noticed the one you said about not firing the whole island but shrugged it off after they had an explanation.. but i can't remember the reason

and for the one Kyoya didnt test Nana's power, i just thought maybe he wanted to trust Nana so i just let it off too😅😅😅idk my mind was in a mess when i watched. But even if it isn't, i wouldnt think much about it. So i really like how you explained things i didnt think about

i read the manga but it also didnt interest me as much as the first few anime episodes, i liked it til thepart she had to kill the annoying guy, Tsunekichi. Considering I havent watched much anime, this was probably one of the series that i quite enjoy. cant say the same about the manga tho.

Wow okay I just saw that I wrote so much - this was more than what I wrote for my bioethical Essay lmao.
I apologise, I can get carried away while writing. Have fun reading it!😅
sirenix Feb 21, 2021 4:57 AM
Hey! First of all I apologise for taking so long to reply, my new Semester of University just started and everything got a bit busy, plus I managed to have a Concussion as well so yeee (─▽─)╭ fun times.
I am really glad you asked and are thinking of picking up the Series! It is a favourite of mine, and I think regarding Story, build up , world and Characters it does an exceptional Job - even when it comes to the Villains and side characters.

So for me, I started watching it when it was airing and while waiting for new Episodes I started the Manga because I got too impatient. I pretty much binged it till around Ch 60 or 70 and then finished the Anime with it as well. Which I personally preferred, because sometimes after finishing an Anime unless I am *very* invested it becomes hard to read the Manga and go over the same Plot I had just watched. I also often put the Manga on Pause because I do not like being caught up and waiting every month for the new Chapter- so I usually wait for a while and then consume like 30 Chapters/One Arc usually all in one which depending on the Arc I find it better as well as the Fighting scenes/battles can often go on for quite a few Chapters.

- the Anime is actually fairly true to the Manga (the first Episode completely covers JUST the first chapter, like often you can tell that it covers it panel by panel and even speechwise) so you could technically watch the Anime and then start in the Manga where it stopped (I can look it up but it stops somewhere around chapter 44 or 48? just when one last Character joins the main Group) but I’d still recommend reading from the beginning (only if you actually enjoy it, but I did as for me it was just that good)
It does skip a few things here and there and from the Second half they changed a few things as well (not too much) but other than that it is the first Anime I’ve seen which sticks sooooooo close to the Source Material which is a fresh breath of air.

Also while it is marked as Shoujo - it has quite a lot of fighting Scenes and Blood/etc. (especially in the Manga and during later Arcs) it doesn't beat around the Bush and while the Anime does a good job of covering the story I think it really downplays most of the Fights which is a bit sad since they're really well done and quite badass as well. I think they're often one of the best parts of the Arcs, and you can see Yona really shining in them as well. Which is why I recommend to not skip the Beginning of the Manga.

One of the reasons why I usually always recommend reading the Manga first (or switch between both) for this is because I know a lot of People who have dropped the Anime after Episode 3/4 because they got bored and didn't think it was good enough at the Beginning to keep going.
The Thing is, it starts out quiteeeeee slow - the main plot or basically Yona's "Goal" doesn't really start to stir up until Ep.8/9 (and a really badass scene where *chef's kiss* Yona's character development really starts to shine around Ep 5/6 - In the Manga it is also around Ch. 9/10+) However the Anime really does well with building everything up and doesn't skip on important backstories and Information before Yona starts her Journey which I appreciate - I'd rather have them cover more and have a slow start than it being rushed and you miss out on key parts of the story.

So I think overall it would be best to start with the Manga, you can maybe also start a few Episodes of the Anime and see how you like it and whether you mind the slow pacing or not (it has a really great OST, I often listen to it while reading - adds a lot more flavour to it) whether you binge it or not is for you to decide I think and how invested you are in the Series.
But I definitely recommend at least binging the first 6 Episodes when you start the Anime so you get at least till a small badass moment from Yona and then the
which is featured in Episode 7 or 8 I think.
As for the Manga it is quite easy to read it so I'd maybe recommend till Ch.27/28 for binging? Right around where the
appears, this characters appearance has a very good storyline attached to it and some nice fighting as well.

Maybe you can also binge Arc to Arc (which I def recommend because I've often had it where I stopped halfway and then when I picked it up again kind of forgot what was happening exactly - however that is not the Case for the Beginning - more for later Arcs beginning from Ch. 77 onward as they're longer than the previous ones.)
No matter what I definitely recommend making it at least to after Chapter 44 - from then on basically everyone is "assembled together" and that's when their Journey + Travels starts to happen. A lot of interesting Arcs come up later and they run into a lot of Conflicts (
for example - which is actually not bound to just one Arc but is something which goes on for some time) which have been going on in the Kingdom and they also cover very good fighting Scenes.

I also recommend watching the OVA - it covers a really really really important Past of one of the main Characters - but I wouldn't watch it till you've finished the Anime.
No - Actually I recommend reading it in the Manga first, as it is connected story wise to some REALLY good Chapters (the chapters I am talking about are the Kin province arc which is a v short Arc between Ch.94-100 - so the backstory follows it immediately and is around Ch. 101-105)
The way they added the backstory or "origin" in this exact moment just makes it so much better, it happens during a "hopeless" fight and also explains this specific Character's Action during all of this - while in the OVA it is kind of just randomly explained without the prior context -it's still well done but it doesn't the same kind of effect.
I usually don't easily cry while reading/watching something but I was sobbing during this.

I hope this has helped a little bit? Let me know if you have any other questions and also when you start the Series!! I enjoy talking about it a lot so tell me what you think of it and whether you started the Anime or Manga first :)

I don't understand your tags in animelist ... 90/10 means what?

Yeah, it really sucks that it had to end that way. It was so good until that last case. I'm glad someone else agrees with me about it!
