That's fair. So, as long as this doesn't turn into a debate, I'm fine with justifying my opinion a bit more.

⚠SPOILERS FOR Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann BELOW⚠

Most all of my complaints are focused at the second half of the series, yes. As I said both before, and above, I liked the first half. And that is part of the problem. The series went into its second half with a lot of positive momentum. And then, it shot itself in the foot. With a cannon. It spiraled out of control and slammed into the ground, totally burned out.

Hopefully, this has helped you understand my ultimate dissatisfaction. I'll admit, my fury with the ending may have negatively influenced my opinion by clouding my fonder remembrance of the better elements from earlier in the series, and I'm still thinking it over — there's no harm in changing it later, after all. But if I do, don't expect it to stray too far from its current position.

Also: I am very sorry for the Wall. Though, if you TL;DR (which is understandable, although irritating), you officially lose your right to complain — you can't protest my opinion if you don't read my defense.

P.S.: For this sort of thing, do you prefer responding on one another's Walls as a continuation of the back-and-forth, or using replies to anchor the discussion in a single place?

News: I just finished Gurren Lagann.

And, since I'm guessing you're about to go see what score I gave it and then rage, I feel the need to put up a preemptive defense:
• Firstly, I'd much rather have this debate in person, so please rein in your fury until later.
• Secondly, I want to point out that if this series had stopped at episode 15 with the conclusion of its first half, I would have ultimately rated it much more highly. With the exception of episodes 4, 5, and 6, I genuinely did like the first half — complete with true qualitative appreciation. However, the second half took all of that positive momentum, turned it on its head, and brutally beat it into the ground. I found episodes 21 through 27 actively exhausting, truly tiresome to sit through, and that whole mess just left me unsatisfied and disappointed.
I bring this up specifically so you know that I didn't just go into this series without giving it a fair chance, and hated it out of blind bias — in the possibly futile hope that this helps you resist the urge to yell into your comment box.
