Well my story starts the same as most of ours. I was a little kid when I watched shows like Little Nemo, RainbowBright, Moomin and Voltron without realizing it was anime.
My „conscious” anime life started around 2006 by the influence of my exboyfriend who told me anime was really fashionable in France. My first anime was GITS which made a deep impact on me. That was when I realized that anime is much more than a cool trend. It has countless genres, sometimes it deals with serious issues but it can make me rofl, it’s art but it is free from kitsch and pretence and each show is unique and lovable in it’s own way. The world of anime sucked me in, it was completely natural, I didn’t protest. Ever since, my love for anime and manga is just growing. Thanks to my obsession I made both online and real life friends who I value and learned much about the Japanese culture, which I find beautiful.
As you see, I have a bad case of anime addiction but I don’t plan to recover. I’m open to any kind of discussion about anime and manga, anytime :)
