From the get go I was really turned off by the way they made this all bright and warm compared to the brooding original. The complex also seemed rather overplayed -- to be an almost turn off. I guess everyone has their reason to want a new self though--even if it's unintentionally catfishing. Still friends don't care about visuals as much.
Didn't realize until years later that this is kind of a doujin of sorts so decided to give it a try from a fresh glance. It was a rough start for sure (took 2 or 3 restarts to actually make it through it.), but I
...
heard even a lot of people who didn't even enjoy the original series rave about how much potential it had-- comparing to the Aincrad arc. After getting passed the 3rd episode though, I see what they meant. It's an easy watch.
Sure there wasn't a single surprising moment, and there were some horribly obvious plot armor that was cringey (even for me). But that said, between the contrast of real life to online life as well as "the friendships we made along the way" -- it's a show I'd probably rewatch atleast once. It was also fascinating to watch someone play the game with the game mechanic in mind as well as a technical noob's perspective. Like I said, the show definitely had its flaws..and then some. But it lives up to the original series in it's own crooked way. Had you asked me to rate this when I dropped it, I probably would have given it a one...maybe a two given that I thought it was written from the SAO author. But on second glance -- while watching I was constantly contemplating if it deserved a seven..or maybe a high six.
I think it would have been an easier watch had it not been associated to SAO officially, although I understand it's from the same universe. I'd argue it has further resemblance to other shows. But that aside -- trying to give this show the most objective score I can I'll give it an eight due to how fair paced this was. Also, between the last 4 episodes as well as just how beautiful the sound was for this, it does in some way carve out to be a really good watch. It gives me a newfound respect to ReOna and Aoi Eir. They really helped to capture the rollercoaster that this show should have been. To say the least, I was on the edge of my seat.
We get to meet Pit in real life too, which albeit cheesy and a bit generic -- was also really cool to see her in relation to her...personality.
All in all it's a C or D tier plot-- nothing new, but if you can actually watch your way through it-- it's a B tier production.
While I don't think the story writing can really hold a flame to the original creation of SAO (i.e. Aincrad SAO only), nor the darker more edgier concept -- I'd argue it's wayyyyyy better then GGO. It feels like a brighter version of what GGO SHOULD have been.
Honestly, I'd even contemplate it might be better then Ordinal Scale which as a whole I REALLY enjoyed. A bonus 10 points that they don't use rape or harrassment at all; additionally no truly shit villains -- just humans playing a game that reflect their real personality

I never thought I could enjoy a show that has a score of 0 for character (probably deserves less), but Mushoku Tensei somehow makes it possible. It's an isekai where a horny outcast gets transformed into the most OP kid ever, but still has the self esteem of his past self. To say the least, every character has some....atoning to consider. There are parts that seem a bit overdone, if not outright a turnoff; it almost seems like a rejected hentai plot.
That said if you can handle the random moans or suppressed virgin energy this show does have a plot and flawed, but realistic
...
characters. It's a coming of age show where you can rewrite your past...present..and future? Except sometimes, history rewrites itself for a reason. It might not be me, it's probably you Rudy. In most cases, this type of show would be a lost cause, but given the direction, the art, the music, and of course the talented seiyuus-- this is one of those shows that somehow keeps bringing you back. You can hate it, but you can't really say it wasn't well done given all the source it was provided; truthfully I'd argue the second season is even better then the first.
It's not quite the formula for your traditional isekai (although a lot of the Fall/Winter21 isekais seem to have reworked their formula from this show).

I'm typically not a fan of fast paced shows, but this hits exactly where it needs to.
The art, characters, sound, and overall enjoyment is 10/10. Seiyuus really are carrying the feelings really well. I'm glad this got reanimated (although the last one was equally enjoyable given the different animation); usually, I'm pretty conflicted about reboots, but they're really doing it justice. Maybe I've been starved for a good shoujo/romance lately, but this is definitely worth the watch.
Good fluff. Bad for the heart, but good fluff.
(Sidenote, trying to meet the required review length, but not sure what else to add. It's a good low priority
...
and also cliffhangerless show).

Kasel. Kasel. Kasel.
I watched this because I wanted to support Dreamcatcher- a K-pop group that made some of the soundtrack for the game. Deja Vu, the title track of the game is absolutely chilling (and the acting and planning in the m/v is absolutely amazing). I recommend watching all the music versions on YouTube. That said, after briefly trying the game-- it's quickly apparent that this is your run of the mill hero's journey. Everything is a bit bland, and that translates to the anime as well. It's not super thrilling, but it's not a bad watch. It gets better--at the very least, but it's
...
pretty low priority with minimal cliffhangers.
I'd recommend it to pass the time, as it does feature some nice voice actors. The music is pretty good as well (although not nearly as powerful as the game's soundtrack). It translate the game pretty well as far as I can tell; (although I dropped the game immediately). However, I'll thoroughly just be disappointed because it doesn't live up to the hype that Dreamcatcher set for them. Characters, Art, Enjoyment are on the lower end. The show itself isn't bad, it's just a flat and predictable storyline. Even the romance and comedy falls flat.

I'm really split on what score to give this. If you had asked me in the first 3 episodes, I'd say drop immediately. I think this is the first time where the "hareming"/notice me senpai (rival?) is actually a little too overbearing. Even until the last episode, I was ready to drop for that alone. It gives Mahouka Koukou Rettousei S2 a run for its money as far as drinking every time the tsundere female lead is jealously or angrily breathing main characters name when their personality literally becomes about waiting for the mc.
The pacing for the story is a bit...rushed? (Maybe not rushed in
...
the traditional sense, but flat.) It's just battle, "oh you're alive!", battle. It's difficult to get closer with any of the characters.
The fillers albeit-- small bits -- are pretty skippable. It does get better though. The fighting scenes are nice and satisfying to watch (although you might notice they skimp on the animation for the occasional "normal" scene). The pacing is acceptable. (Again I wish that they would toss in a few "non-plot" character development, but it seems like all they do is jump into a battles after again and again attempting to distract themselves.)
That said, I'm really looking forward to season 2 though if they have it. They seem to tone down a bit on the annoying few catchphrases, and instead focus on the storyline and. It's not a high priority watch by any means. It seems a bit like a b-rated magic harem anime at first glance, but it's watchable. There are predictable moments, but it's not an identical cut from another anime so it's still fun to watch. Honestly, the directing and music is awesome; it carries the show.
4 seems a bit low as a number, but it is decent. Somewhere between a 4 and an 7.

A crappy adaption (of a potentially amazing storyline)-- that while it gets painful near the end, you should watch anyways especially for the shounen and adventure lovers. It has a great blend of soundtrack (which in general seem to be a pretty unique sound/set of songs compared to most ED/OPs that are out right now.)
Fight scenes are pretty good, albeit generic. Art style isn't my style, but pretty unique with their curled (boxer?) ears and red noses. Characters are flat, but the seiyuus are pretty great at giving each character some life. Pacing probably would feel smoother if you read the original material (note

I haven't read it, so trying to enjoy the series while figuring out why the hell everything is unfolding as it is--- is exhausting. You can put the pieces together by the last episode, but honestly the fact they don't pace well makes this show drop from a 10 to a 7, with a barely meeting "Good" enjoyment.

If you watched the first episode, and felt that the plot may be a little flat...don't get you're hopes up. It's definitely the case. It's a very overplayed plot, of the OP outcast who has a harem due to how OP it is. If you're here for originality, you're kind of out of luck. That said, if you're here for a light time, and don't mind the absence of going in depth with a plot... it's a pretty light, comedic show. It's so bad that it's good.
Bonus points for beautifully coloured art as well as talented seiyuus. I expect there will be a bit
...
of character development, but the key to enjoying this show is accepting to not expect anything. Very Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi-esque. Nothing fancy, nothing absolutely terrible.. and nothing new. But for a theme that's pretty popular (i.e. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei vibes without the 'incest'), it ain't bad. Give it a shot.

If dense MCs and stories where the focus is more on the harem rather then the story itself don't bother you -- then this is a great show. It was definitely my favourite show of the season. It focuses around a girl who falls into her otome game as the villain with s a death flag over her head. As the villain she's never supposed to get the man, even her fated husband. However, even though she is not the MC of the game this time, her personality really shines through as she finds a way to make everyone else fall for her anyways (both
...
platonically and romantically); she really has no concept/compass/suspicion the type of spell she's casting on her friends. (... to this second I can't decide if it's more endearing or more annoying).
I think the story -- although not completely original -- is refreshing. It's not your traditional isekai -- yet it definitely isn't real life. I would have loved to have experienced a bit more world building, or one on one relationship scenes but it seems it's not fated in the works. (Unfortunately for her friends who are desperate for her love...senpai has not noticed.) It may be due to the genre, but I definitely got the vibes that this was a B-grade anime. That said, it has pretty great animation/seiyuus and comedy. It gets a tad bit exhausting near the end as it seems like there reaches a certain point where they just give up on the story line of the world itself and just poke fun at how the MC is a Bakarina, but overall it's endearing and well paced.

I really had some trouble trying to figure out how to score this. Overall I give it a 8/10. It's not glamourous or fastpaced to say the least. It's not action packed or emotional-- there's no real romance, however it's a great "slow" anime to watch when you just need a palette cleanser. It shows a story of growth, and personality-- as Arte fills her community with her unique colour. It's a bit annoying at first, but you'll realize it really resembles real life in the sense that a lot of people may act with prejudice or treat you differently for how you look. Arte
...
-- in an almost fictional way really learns to first ignore, then accept it. It's an inspirational journey of hardwork, failure, and faith. While I can see why people would be against it-- heck it's not what I'd call my cup of tea the pacing is exceptional. The characters are drawn and expressed super well. I could feel hate, or confusion from certain characters but grew to understand and appreciate their existence.
Each episode barely feels like it's 5 minutes. Even if there are no cliffhangers it leaves you pleasantly ready for the next episode. It really is a 10/10 adaption which I'm not sure if I should give a higher overall score. The production is through the roof with a good mix of comedic frames and also high quality. A lot of my critique revolves around what could be better as a story: i.e. I wish other characters had a more interesting sidestory-- that makes you wish you saw them again soon. I wish that it had another element that could also play along with the art focus (i.e. romance, or maybe a better focus on like what struggles Arte faced minus her career/brief feels, maybe another journey); that said I know this was not the intended genre of the manga hence I can't really critique the anime itself. It really is a good show. Although the plot is pretty subpar, I think that the production makes it worth it. -- You definitely would not think it's a B-grade production. It is however -- a very low priority show unless you have a love for character development or art/animation.

I typically don't write reviews, but for an average plot-line and somewhat abrupt ending this anime is somewhat intriguing. Never having read the manga, nor being a religious expert, the idea was pretty interesting, yet unoriginal. I have to say though overall the art is stellar; you can tell it deteriorated at points, but generally it was fine. It's plot line might be sub-par, but it was still enticing. Every episode had me on the edge of my seat for the next one, and every episode had a good mix of comedy and serious content (Thought the filler episodes
...
were a bit much.) I feel like some of the slow filler time could have been spent on the ending, but I guess without the filler the audience would have gotten less backstory on the side characters, and also the mandatory anime clichés.
The OP and ED are pretty catchy, and definitely fits the storyline, but I wouldn't call it amazing.
It should be noted that it's easy to get irritated with William Twinning, yet I suppose that's how he's supposed to be. The hilarious personalities of the demons made up for it though.
I'd recommend it because it's a light and quick anime. However, I would easily say that it doesn't need a second season;there is enough plotline to make a spinoff/sequel though. Those who might enjoy Devils and Realist probably enjoyed Kuroshitsuji, or other supernaturalesque or man and servant type animes.
(P.S. It is noted, that while I didn't read it, I guess for those who decide to read the manga first be prepared to get some adaption changes, because that's something a lot people were having meltdowns about.)
Also a sidenote, it should be known to prospective watchers there's also an excessive amount of cross dressers if that bothers you. You have been warned.
