Both the art of Hairy Tale and Mononoke are inspired of traditionnal Ukiyo-e and they're both great tale of samurai, trust and betrayal, love and hatred.... well, not quite Hairy Tale is about shampoo, but whatever, if you forget about the two last seconds it looks great and all.

Both show a conflectual and distant relation between an aunt and her niece. The settings are completely differents and Air has supernatural elements, but they have themes in common: death at a young age, loss of one loved and the the heavy responsability that is taking of one relative, whether you're an aunt or a big brother. However Air doesn't try to degrade one part to make us pity the other, it shows the best side of each characters. And a mother that looked immature at first may carry for her daughter more that it seemed, an absent father may be concerned for his daughter and make decisions for her sake. Unlike Grave of the Fireflies which has villains characters that are just villains and miserable characters that are just miserable. Also in Grave of the Fireflies the characters don't try to think of their situations to make things better, they are just passive, while in Air the characters try to repair what has been broken and this till the very end. In this point of view, Air is more complete and honest than Grave of the Fireflies.

Colourful and brightful animation, lot of flashes and explosions, lot of Monsters, a save the world type plot with a kickass scene at the end and a sort of rivalry/comradery relation between the two female lead. Also both Sheryl Nome and Cutey Honey have an obscur an tragic. They probably don't have the same kind of personnality but they fall into the same category.

Action oriented movies with a lot of sword fights. Both of the main characters from those movies are tortured lone wolf with an obscur past, and they both feel guilty for something that happened in their pasts. Also they love kid and they both have a particular relation with an orphan. And both movies are freakin' stereotypical, boring, substanceless and irritating.

Same type of animation with a lot of extremely over the top action scenes and flashes. A stupid, mysterious, gentle, childish and cute female lead who has some super power. Lot of nudity and fanservice. A save the world type plot. And a sort of comradship/brotherly atmosphere. Actually the relation between Natsuko and Honey relation looks a lot like the relation between Nono and Lark.

Both anime involve magic in a somewhat realistic setting. Sakura and Kiki experience a lot of things through the story that make them growing up and accept their role. It's like a growing up of age story, and in both anime the main character learn how to take their responsabilities and to become more adult. Also there's a romance that is involved in both anime. There's a sweet, cute and kind of childish atmosphere in both anime. Kiki and Sakura are adorable characters who are very kind and sensitive.

Both of those manga talk about a particular relationship between a student and his teacher :) They're just opposite in the way the story is treated because B Reaction is turned to be a shonen-like manga while Chocolate Cosmos is turned to be a shojo-like manga but if you're searching for a shonen-like manga with the same story, you should try B Reaction.
