"I relied on God. Even though I knew the only one who could save me, was myself." -Kaiji Itou
While the story and the context are extremely thought provoking and entertaining, the pacing, mediocre characters, and lack of consistency prevent Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor from being a great experience. However, because of its excellent ability to make the viewer feel the severity of the situation and reflect on the various moral questions, Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor is definately worth a watch.
I have nothing against slow shows, but when a concept or strategy that a character uses is over explained it really grinds my gears, and there is
...
a substantial amount of overly long explanations in this anime. Probably 1/6th of the shows runtime is devoted to explaining Kaiji's reasoning
Besides the pacing, my biggest gripe is with the characters. There are only five or six characters that have any substance at all, most characters are complete idiots that don't show any evidence of human reason. Kaiji himself was an enjoyable character with an interesting internal dialogue, but was inconsistent at times. At the beginning of every arc he was a complete idiot, but then he becomes the smartest guy in the room.
You have to get used to the art, but I actually really growing to like the unique style, it really fits the tone of the show. The animation is pretty mediocre, but Kaiji isn't exactly action packed s so it doesn't need anything too elaborate.
The story and the situation it takes place in are fantastic. The writer created a scenario that is perfect for analyzing human nature as it relates to desperation and greed. The anime transported me to the world and really led me to question what I would do in these extreme situations. One of the main themes is the idea that the only person who can save you is yourself. It displays this well with Kaiji being constantly betrayed and the characters taking responsibility for their actions despite them being morally questionable.

"Look how they massacred my boy!:(" -Anyone who watched the first season of The Promised Neverland
This should have been a great anime. The animation is still top notch (except for that cgi monster in the beginning), the world is cool, the story is really interesting, and it has the benefit of a brilliant foundation, coming from the first season. However, someone somewhere decided that it should suck and they would make it that way by rushing the story at a speed comparable to 3x10^8 m/s^2.
This is how the plot should have been arranged, (Spoilers) The main group surviving in the forest and journey to the
...
bunker should have been spliced with Norman's experience at Lambda. That should have been enough for A WHOLE SEASON, ending with the Emma and Norman meeting again. The rest of the show could have been a banger third season. Lastly, the frickin' Powerpoint presentation in episode 11 should have been an epic season four where we get to see Emma reforming the demon world and the others learning to adjust to human society.
I don't know what was going on with everyone who worked on this anime and why they decided that it wasn't worth making right. Begrudgingly, I'm giving The Promised Neverland season two a 3/10. If you watched season 1 and are tempted to this... just don't.

I was honestly just expecting Jobless Reincarnation to be a mediocre isekai and was going to watch it just for that, but it actually wound up being a lot more disappointing than that.
In the beginning the plot and the main character is where Jobless Reincarnation really shines. Instead of the standard isekai that whisks someone away and gives them OP abilities, Jobless Reincarnation takes the opportunity to show Rudy's thought process and the method he uses to be successful in the fantasy world he was reincarnated into. Since he had already lived a life in our world, Rudy is able to take what he has
...
learned and apply it to a new life. He also brings with him his regrets and bad memories providing an intriguing way to get to know the character. Also, The animation is really nice at times and the soundtrack is pretty good.
Sadly, the show really falls off after the mc leaves his hometown. They stop focusing on the little details that made it interesting and doing the same old typical isekai stuff. Additionally, it is chocked full of gross sexual/pedophilic stuff. I was optimistic for what this show could do, but I only ended up underwhelmed.

I usually don't write reviews about my favorite anime but, after re-watching The Promised Neverland in preparation for the second season, I felt compelled to put my thoughts to word.
Overall The Promised Neverland presents a creative and unique world that examines difficult moral problems using relatable characters. The viewer will find themselves diving into the heads of the different characters and imagining what they would do in their positions and whether they would choose to live or die.
The thing that makes The Promised Neverland so compelling is its ability to place the viewer themself into the story. As I watched this anime I found
...
myself thinking about what I would do given the choices that Emma, Norman, and Ray had to discern. The Promised Neverland creates a world and situation that instills its characters with great depth and complex emotions. What makes the characters unique is that most of them are children between the ages of five and twelve. For this reason their idealism and adherence to stereotypes actually makes sense. In spite of their age, the characters make tough but believable decisions and compromises that you don't see very often in anime. Even though the adult characters, like Isabella, are the enemies they are easily sympathized with because the viewer learns the whole context of their lives.
At only twelve episodes The Promised Neverland is quick to watch, yet conveys a story at a pace that keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat. The plot is succinct and immensely entertaining. By having the story take place in a small and separated part of the overall world, the anime is able to convey the rules and truths of the story with ease.
The art is really good but there are some noticeable downgrades in certain scenes. The music and ambience are great and serve the suspenseful nature of the anime well. I watched parts of both the subbed and dubbed releases and I wound up sticking to the subbed. While both were well done, I found that the Japanese voice actors conveyed the serious emotions better making the characters more relatable.

Like most people I experienced the hype around The God of High School and therefore came in with high hopes and high expectations. While GOH wound up being an average anime that did not live up to the hype it created.
The passion that went into creating GOH is obvious and abundant. The animation and artistic style are fantastic, the fight scenes are fluid, the characters all look unique and interesting, the voice acting is stellar, and the ending song Win by Cix is SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOD (I added it to my workout playlist instantly) so I always stayed for the credits. Daewi is
...
my favorite character. He has the coolest fight scenes, the best fight scenes, and motivation.
I was excited to see a good looking anime focused on martial arts and enjoyed the first few episodes so much that I went ahead and read the first volume of the manhwa, but by the time I got halfway through GOH I realized... it sucks. The story is all over the place just a couple of episodes in and it doesn't get any better. This lack luster story telling is easily the worst aspect of the show. Also, the cool martial arts that the characters have spent their whole lives mastering are wasted, once they get to the tournament all that matters is the amount of magical affinity they were born with. Because of this, the world building and story seemed very rushed. There is seemingly little balance or rules to limit what the characters are able to do with their powers. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with focusing on magic instead of realism, but GOH missed a big opportunity to precisely build its world, set its rules, and develop its characters (for an example of an anime that does this well look at Hunter x Hunter). Additionally, while they are enjoyable, the characters can be pretty easily put into generic stereotypes.
GOH wound up being pretty a boring and nonsensical magical action/adventure anime that happened to have really good art and style and I can tell you from reading the source material that any future seasons won't get any better.

As soon as I saw the trailer for Deca-Dence I knew I was going to watch it; However, I did not expect it to be one of the most unique anime I have experienced recently. Over all this show was extremely enjoyable. While I don't think it is quite worthy of a perfect score, it was a one of a kind experience to watch. The interaction between the lead characters, the way the story is told, the art, and the world are some of the best I have seen in anime.
Deca-Dence transports the viewer into a new world, the likes of which
...
have not been seen before. The way it handles the world building and translates that information to the viewer is masterful. The viewer accompanies the lead character Natsume as she learns more about the world she was born into, never truly understanding reality until late in the show. Just like Natsume, I was surprised with new information about the world every episode, massive plot twists occurring throughout the show, even in the first episode. It was fun to speculate on the implications of every new idea and mechanic introduced, I wound up calling and talking to friends who haven't even seen it about the world.
The art is spectacular. The animation is fluid and clean. There were only a couple of times were I noticed a downgrade in quality, but that would amount to maybe a minute of the entire runtime. The show uses bright colors that make every scene interesting.
The sound did its job, but it was nothing out of the ordinary, but the voice actors were stupendous. The opening and endings were both bangers though.
The characters provide the perfect avenue to grow with and understand the world. The lead characters do not follow typical anime tropes, having a few quirks that make them stand out, and come across as real people that you get to know through dialogue and time. It helps that the show doesn't take itself too seriously and is full of humor. Natsume and Kabu have some crazy good growth and development and have one of the best relationships in anime. The side characters do not have much development but are easily recognizable by their different quirks. Of them my favorite was definitely Donatello.
Deca-Dence is awesome! Watch it, you won't regret it.

Pretty darn good anime and is definitely worth a watch.
I love boxing movies so when I heard about Megalo Box I was pretty hyped to begin with, and this anime lived up to my hype. The story was great, an underdog tale that tugs at my heartstrings and makes me want to restart my life and become a boxer. It is straight and to the point without any fillers. The art is pretty great though their is some pretty noticeable lazy animation in the boxing scenes that could have been a lot cooler and the backgrounds which seemed too still at points.
...
The score was good, it was simple but got the job done.
Most of the characters were awesome but a couple were my biggest grievance with the show and the only thing keeping MB below a 9. I really liked most of the characters Yuri, Mikio, Yukiko, Aragaki, etc... They all showed growth and had defining characteristics that made them original and interesting. The only ones that dragged the show down were Joe and Nanbu. I enjoyed Joe's tenacity and his backstory but he is one of those characters who always seems to be losing but then has an epiphany moment and then wins, a trait that is way too common in anime and is very lazy. My biggest qualm about Nanbu is that he seems to flip his perspective a couple times per episode between being self-centered or selfless. It felt lazy and plot serving to me and was very distracting.

I wanted to like Clannad, but I just didn't. It's the first anime that I have seen that I doubt that I will ever finish.
It was recommended to me by a few of my friends so I picked it up. The first thing that turned me off was the art. I know it's a style that some people like but I found it distracting. All of the female characters look exactly the same so the only way I could tell which character was which was the amount of awkwardness that they emit (which, believe me, is a lot). The characters are
...
one sided and their voice actors are cringey at best. The story moves at such a slow pace that six episodes seems like a lifetime.
Maybe someday I will pick it up and finish it, but not anytime in the foreseeable future.

I enjoy One Punch Man. Over the past two seasons I have learned to love Saitama and many of the other heroes in the show. That being said their is a noticeable downgrade in quality when moving from season one to season two.
I enjoy the hero hunter as a character and anything Saitama is involved in but when neither of them was the focal point I found myself becoming quite bored. The story isn't extraordinary and I am not really drawn into the monster association arc. The tournament arc is also surprisingly boring and I was disappointed in the lack of
...
animation and stakes.
Another disappointing thing about this season is the lack of both character and world building. I haven't learned anything new about the characters and the lot stagnates them.
I enjoyed it inasmuch as it is One Punch Man, but other then that it was just meh.

It is worth a watch if you really yearn for more SAO after the first season or if you just want a time waster. But as far as a good character driven story or interesting themes look somewhere else.
It has all the draw backs of SAO plus some. There is very little character development, the only thing that changes from the first season is Asuna's relationship with her family. The story is bland, it kind of started feeling like a soap opera when they start introducing a bunch of terminally ill characters and Asuna is not interesting enough to be the protagonist
...
of the sleeping knights arc. Even before that Kirito is a protagonist that is completely plot driven, and he is still too OP for there to be any weight to the goings ons. Nothing stands out in the score either.
I thought the Gun Gale Online story arc was more enjoyable then the latter probably because I enjoy first person shooters more than fantasy RPGs in real life. There did feel like there was a lot of filler though. As usual the art is really good as well as the action sequences.
