Guess who's back?! Hope you had good holidays, and your 2024 is going well so far!
I'll admit, I haven't had any chances to continue reading Index since my last reply. But I've heard that Genesis Testament's been getting wild as of late, and the 20th anniversary of the series is rapidly approaching. Still love the series, tho. And have a weird habit of crossing it over with other franchises... as you can see...
What are your thoughts on Accelerator's spin-off series?
I would always go to B&N for my physical media, but not anymore. Only rarely do I go in there if I happen to be shopping near it. Amazon's always been my go-to place for anime merch since RightStuf's closure. And yeah, I don't blame you. I remember ordering some figures on CR because I wanted them and were on clearance. While shipping was admittedly fast (took about 5 days, despite not being a member), their ship notification system was GARBAGE! They didn't send me an order/ship confirmation until the next day, and while I was doing yardwork, that's when I saw my package. And THEN they sent me a delivery notification... the day AFTER I retrieved my stuff... I'm lucky it was delivered on that day while the weather was clear, and no one saw it on my porch. Maybe they improved since absorbing RightStuf, but I ain't gonna find out. I'm not even into anime anymore these days.
However, I may actually buy another product from CR because it's the only place to get it...
If you compare Kanzaki to Akeno Himejima,
you can see what I mean. Obviously, they're far from identical, but Kanzaki does have that High School DxD vibe going on in her design.
(If the image doesn't show up, let me know. It's been an issue as of late...)
I don't mind fanservice as long as it's done sparingly, or for laughs (Raildex certainly accomplished that). If it's all that a show is, I'm not into it.
Which installments of Transformers have you seen? Do you read comics as well?
Can't say I blame you there. Western games tend to have pretty unappealing character designs these days (looking at you, Mortal Kombat). I'm pissed at how companies are trying to purge physical media these days...
To me, horror took some time to get into. I would usually avoid anything scary growing up, and sometimes I still avoid very scary things. However, I have developed quite a preference for certain types of horror. Be it films or books. In particular, I enjoy slasher films (Friday the 13th is my poison), creature-features, cosmic horror, and creepypastas (I avoid the likes of Slenderman because creepypasta OCs are neither scary nor relevant). One of my most recent horror favorites is The Silence of the Lambs.
Hello friend, my deepest apologies for my absence. I know you know I'm in school, but really, I'm very sorry for taking so long to get back to you. School's gotten very hectic since my last reply, and I'm afraid it'll get more so for the rest of the year. So I'm dropping by to inform you that I'll get to your reply eventually, and in advance, have yourself a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!
Heyyy! It's cool. I'm in school, so I understand. Take as much time as you need when you form replies. Also, in case either of us aren't around, Happy Halloween!!!
Wait, what?! You're kidding me! I knew Mugino was a crazy bitch, but I didn't think she was THAT crazy. Damn, now I really need to read through OT to see what crazy shit was cut out. That's true, and considering how more polished the Sisters arc is in Railgun S in comparison to Index S1, I believe it's possible Kamachi added more in the Railgun manga. I'll have to wait and see once I cross that bridge.
Are you talking about RightStuf? Yeah, such a shame it's gone now. I wasn't even a customer for a year on there (I joined back in December 2022). But at least I had a good start, and ended my shopping on there with a bang. Have you considered ordering on Amazon?
It does take good novel series to get into another good novel series. Other authors like C.S. Lewis and H.P. Lovecraft further increased my interest in novels as well.
She certainly has a better design than most other anime girls with that simple aesthetic. Hell, I think she looks like a Bleach character with how J.C. Staff designed her for the anime. Also, is it just me, or does Kanzaki's design give off High School DxD vibes? (Aside from her provocative outfit, that is.)
That entirely depends. I haven't really found any other light novels I'd like to read after Index. Honestly, I can't really get into other anime titles these days. I'm at a point in my life where I'm content with the anime titles I'm into. As well as non-anime titles that mostly consist of fantasy and horror.
What non-anime media are you into?
Same. I avoid anything on his channel that goes past OT and Railgun T. He's pretty passionate about the series, and his channel was another reason I checked out the series after the Death Battle episode. Agreed. YouTube is too controlling, sensitive, and hypocritical for its own good these days. That's not mentioning the idiotic decision to block the video player if you so much as have an adblocker because adblockers "violate" TOS.
Another example of cutting/modifying content in Index III
would be Accelerator's fight with Kakine. From what I know, Accel didn't clobber him like in the anime, he mutilates the dude. Reducing him to nothing but a pile of organs that had to be preserved. And later, Kakine comes back with a new body he made himself with his ability since he can technically create matter. It's an unfortunate example of censorship in adaptations. If I had to make a guess, I bet Accelerator killing the Misaka clones is far more brutal in the novels than it is in the anime.
So I've heard. But I'll see for myself when I cross that bridge. BTW, NT's first volume in English comes out December 12.
Heh, you certainly got into it far earlier than I did. As for me, it all goes a few years back. You see, while I have seen some anime (some as in like a few movies and TV episodes) in my earlier years, I didn't get into the medium until around 2019. Between 2019 and 2022, I was only finding my place in the medium. Now, I'd like to say around, 2021/2022, I kept noticing Misaka on various social media platforms. Something about her design was just very cute, especially when she'd smile.
However, when I was going to look into Raildex, I found out it was a light novel, and at the time, I was a noob who avoided novels. Plus, the watch order was confusing at the time, and I avoided any big series with a confusing watch order (I'm looking at you Fate). Sooo, needless to say, I avoided the series altogether.
That was, until after reading the LOTR Trilogy this year, that I finally got into novels more than ever, and a certain webseries called Death Battle released this episode after the long-awaited Chosen Undead vs Dragonborn episode:
So I found a watch order here on the site, started off with Railgun S1, and the rest, they say, is history.
Yeah, I heard the novels are very good, and have more in the story than what the anime presented. Especially with how rushed Index III was. I plan to read through to the end with this series. While Index III was pretty rushed, that didn't mean it lacked such memorable moments.
Like Accelerator saving Last Order and gaining angel wings.
Off topic but… do you happen to have discord :)))))
Understandable on the misaka thing, my favorite character in the anime was probably accelerator especially with how he was in sisters arc for railgun S
A couple of my favorites so far have been NT9, NT 18, NT 22 (which I just finished hehe), OT 22, NT 10, OT 15, OT 18, and lastly OT 1
all of those volumes were so good imo especially the first 3 I put I would def reread all of those volumes
^^ I also really liked sisters arc even tho I may not be the biggest misaka fan out there and OT 8 does not get enough appreciation honestly
Yeah I think it would be hard to reread NT 9 emotionally speaking I read that volume in 1 day and the next day I was just so :( but at the same time it gave our boy touma needed character progression and the volume following it was also fire Magic God Othinus arc and the whole build up of Norse Gremlin was amazing may end up rereading but idk like I said NT 9 will be emotionally painful to reread if I do
I quite enjoyed the mental out arc but I understand why one would think it is the weakest part of the series it hasn’t really added much to the series following reading it but yk kazuma kamachi it might have importance 10-20 volumes down the line lol he probably has it thought out how he will use it too but we will see also when you finish volume 18 tell me how it goes
I think while it did have some inconsistencies the ideas kazuma Kamachi introduced were really cool which kept me reading I thought it would take me awhile to get through that volume but I read it in only 2 days (while still having classes too)
Overall I think kamisato arc is a bit overhated by the fandom but it is the weakest part of New Testament but the other parts are just so amazing that imo it being the worst is not that bad
