No worries, these days are quite busy for pretty much everyone in the world hahaha. That's cool, I'm not familiar with Turkish literature at all but I'm pretty sire it must be pretty good. I've never heard about Usogui, the last manga I read was ACCA 13. I watched the anime a few years ago and really liked it.

I've read great things about Brave New World but haven't seen it printed in any library or bookstore close to me, I've been trying to get accustomed to ebooks but they hurt my eyes lol. I've read both The Invisible Man and Island of Doctor Moreau, I got obsessed with Island of Doctor Moreau when I was younger. I love the themes of the ethics of science and humanity it explores. I don't really like philosophy that much, maybe because I haven't read much about it but I struggle to understand the deeper themes.

(Sorry for the late reply, I was very busy these last few days)

No worries! I'm not too much of a reader, besides mostly classic books can't say I've read much, good books aren't too easy to get where I live (I prefer paperback books)

If I had to pick a favorite book I would say 1984 by George Orwell. I also like the stories of HG Wells and Edgar Allan Poe. I love how older authors portrayed scifi and the future. How about you, what books do you like?

Lol yeah, maybe someday. No, I don't have discord

Hahahaha, yeah, can't say I tried it for a long time (played it for literally 10 minutes or so) and got bored. I mean, it has received world wide praise but maybe it's just not for me lol. Hope you enjoy the rest of Twin Peaks S2, they are some prettt boring storylines but the ending, Fire Walk With Me and S3 are worth it.

I actually didn’t hear about Jacob's Ladder until this year, it is indeed a very grotesque and visceral movie. The creature design is brilliant and they way they're presented is also pretty unnerving. I've seen Fear and Hunger somewhere around but I'm not too much of a fan of RPGMaker games, I only played Yume Nikki (got bored and didn't finish) and like 20 minutes of Undertale (didn’t like it at all).

I watched Twin Peaks S3 when it was airing and every week was an experience. Lynch definitely had full creative control during the season and it shows, the first few episodes are pretty polarizing (can't say much without spoiling you) but if you manage to get till the end, it is one of the most unique TV shows I've ever seen. Episode 8 was especially memorable and shocking, and it's definitely the highlight of the show. The themes are extremely vague and even I felt at a loss during the beginning but I think it is definitely worth it, especially if you already enjoy other Lynch movies.

Thanks for the rec! I haven't heard of that movie but looks pretty cool, might warch it soon, I'm always watching older horror movies because the newer ones such as The Conjuring and V/H/S are kind of underwhelming. And yes, I watched the Rabbits videos many years ago but I noticed a vague plot line but was too scared to rewatch Inland Empire again lol, watching that movie definitely requires some guts. Have you watched Jacob's Ladder by any chance? It's a horror movie that inspired some of the Silent Hill creature designs, I thought it was cool.

I actually loved Eraserhead, it´s a crazy movie and can be so scary at times. The Rabbits videos can be found on Lynch´s Youtube channel alongside some of his other works, I personally liked how the Rabbits plot was basically out of order and made Inland Empire even more confusing. I read somewhere that the conversations the rabbits are having are actually connected to the plot of Inland Empire but can´t say I caught that when watching the movie, I was just too unnerved by the whole chaotic atmosphere.

I haven´t heard much about Godfather 3 so I assumed it just wasn´t as popular as the others, didn´t know Michael was still the protagonist in that one.
Galletita Nov 22, 2023 3:44 PM
I have to rewatch it first but yeah, it just wasn't as interesting as Blue Velvet or Mulholland Drive. Have you watched Eraserhead and the Rabbits videos by any chance? Those are also amazing.

Actually I haven't watched the other Godfather movies, 2 is very long and I would need to make time to sit down and watch it properly. For me, Michael's evolution as a character is perfectly portrayed in the movie and one of the best written ever, I can't quite think how the sequels can add more to his character.

I also want to rewatch some Lynch movies soon, especially Lost Highway now that I've finally played Silent Hill 2, the first time I watched it I was terribly exhausted and couldn't focus on it. And yes, I'm so glad Wes Anderson manages to get his movies funded, one of the most daring directors in current days. I haven't read the Benicio del Toro thing but lmao he's totally capable of that, especially after making Asteroid City. From your list I've watched The Godfather I (loved it, could also say it's one of my favorites) and The Shining (thought it was pretty good but didn't feel too impressed, loved Shelley Duval's acting tho). I want to watch Once Upon a Time in America, the others also look pretty good.

I don't have a Letterboxd account, I just keep mental track of the movies I've watched lol.

The thing with Twin Peaks S2 is that it was mostly written by the co creator Mark Frost, Lynch's participation was far less during this season. Still, the most Lynchian season in my opinion is season 3. I watched it when it was airing and it was some the weirdest television I've ever watched. As for Inland Empire, it's an extremely terrifying experience (can't imagine watching it at the cinema), I also don't quite get the themes besides something about the film industry and the explotation of actors and actresses but just the experience of watching it made it my favorite, there's nothing quite like it.

And Asteroid City is very weird but in a good way, I've watched almost all Wes Anderson movies so I'm pretty used to his signature style.

I don't have a top ten lol, I always struggle to pick my favorite things, there are just so many that I love. Do you have one?
Galletita Nov 19, 2023 12:17 PM
I love Twin Peaks, it's actually the first Lynch work I've watched, my favorite movie of his is Inland Empire, but I love all of his works. Twin Peaks can also come around as a satire of sorts of older soap operas and older television shows so the jokes feel appropriate, season 2 is not as strong as season 1 in my opinion but the movie Fire Walk With Me is definitely worth a watch after finishing the series. About Star Wars, yeah, it's such a pity what Disney has done to the franchise, the new movies were extremely poorly planned and bad, the TV shows are so dull and even the new videogames look unappealing. And I haven't watched French Dispatch yet but love Anderson's style so much, his movies are so fun and vibrant, also so different from each other. I loved his latest movie Asteroid City so much. I'm not a big fan of Kubrick but haven't watched movies by the others directors you mentioned yet, though I know they're very praised.

Yeah, I've read great things about Baldur's Gate but I suck at that kind of games, my laptop might also be unable to run it without exploding lol. As for movies, yeah, I like Star Wars (first 6 movies), David Lynch movies, Wes Anderson movies and others, lately I've also been watching horror movies. Most aren't as scary as Silent Hill as such but still fun nevertheless, my favorite is The Exorcist. What movies do you like? Any favorite genres or directors?
Galletita Nov 17, 2023 3:06 PM
Haven't played Drakengard but according to a friend the second Devil Summoner game is far better than the first, my experience with the first game was miserable so can't say I'm too eager to try the other lol. I guess Atlus was still experimenting with the SMT franchise. For example, Persona 3 is also far clunkier and less dynamic than 4 and 5 in terms of gameplay. It's nice to see that they actually care for the feedback and try to implement new features to new releases.
Galletita Nov 17, 2023 2:01 PM
Yeah, SMT fans are always praising the franchise so it's easy to get attracted by it. I played the first Raidou Kuzunoha: Devil Summoner game and wasn't impressed at all, the gameplay was extremely repetitive and the story wasn't that good. I don't listen to a lot of music actually, besides some anime and game music. I liked mainstream rock bands when I was younger but that's it.
