Souichirou Yamamoto's Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru (When Will Ayumu Make His Move?) manga ended with chapter 225 in Weekly Shounen Magazine's 50th issue on Wednesday.

Yamamoto began serializing the romantic comedy manga in Weekly Shounen Magazine in March 2019. Kodansha shipped the 16th volume on October 17 and will release the 17th and final volume on December 15.

Kodansha USA licensed the manga in English in March 2021 and released the 13th volume on September 17. The 14th volume is scheduled to go on sale on November 21.

SILVER LINK. produced a 12-episode television anime series that aired in Summer 2022. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime and simulcasted it with English subtitles on HIDIVE.

Synopsis
On a whim, first-year Ayumu Tanaka quits the Kendo Club to join the illegitimate Shogi Club. Urushi Yaotome, the president of the club and a master of shogi, is thrilled to finally have a playing partner. As Ayumu's upperclassman, Urushi endeavors to be his shogi mentor and student role model. Too often, however, she finds herself blushing with embarrassment! Stone-faced and honest, Ayumu sees no issue with calling Urushi "cute." Although Ayumu likes her, he refrains from confessing and promises himself to first beat her in a game of shogi.

Through school life and shogi games, the two students have many hilarious and heart-warming adventures. Ayumu enjoys every second with Urushi, but he is still a long way from beating her in shogi. With the commitment he made to himself, will Ayumu ever get the chance to confess his feelings to Urushi? [Written by MAL Rewrite]

@Sigmar-Unberogen I don't know how Ayumu and Tsubaki's adaptations were received, but I noticed that many actually took Takagi's film as the implied ending to the story.

@RobertBobert Now that you mentioned it, it really looks odd how the author decided to end all 3 top works the same year. From the three, Tsubaki was the only one that ended way too suddenly IMO and was unsatisfying and rushed. Takagi was expected due to movie. Ayumu honestly is good that it didn't drag longer.
Hopefully everything is fine and the author simply wants to take a good long rest. This year was heavy with 3 anime adaptations from his work + the movie. Must've been exhausting and deserving of a vacation :)

Last of the foreheads, huh?
These series definitely had good runs, though.

@Yubisoft I'm not sure about Tsubaki's association with Kagura, but it still intrigues me why an author known for "endless" works would suddenly finish them all at once.

@Yubisoft Tsubaki also ended this year. I'm a little worried why he finished three of his main series in the space of a couple of months.

Personally I am sad to be honest(especially about takagi) , not worried because the conclusions felt (excluding the end of Tsubaki which was meh from the beginning in my humble opinion . Couldn't enjoy his attempt to create a loli version of Senran Kagura) natural aka not rushed for his manga. Can't wait for more.

I was almost sure that it would last a little more. Oh, I'm interested in his next project.

It was expected that the manga ending was close for those who read the manga . Takagi also ended recently so I can't wait for the author's new project when he feels ready!!!

Ah tought it was still going for like 3-4 chapters, I guess not, only one left. It's going to be the 1st manga I've followed on a regular basis to see ending.
Was a fluffy cute ride <3
